How to unlock the Key to the City achievement in Cities: Skylines II - Definitive Guide

This achievement is for fulfilling the needs of each of the unlockable city tiles.

Unlock each building available in the base game.

To unlock this you must not only unlock all the different service buildings through the development tree but also unlock all signature buildings both from the European and the North American style. Luckily, industry and office signature buildings are shared between the two styles.

Many zone types have NA and EU variants that players can set as they fill in new areas. Signature buildings also have NA and EU versions, but players can place both types of zones in one city and thus earn and place every variant. In fact, players can replace an existing zone with NA or EU and quickly earn the other variant without changing the city's demographics. The big downside to this approach is that the replacement buildings start at level one.

How to get level 5 for High Density Housing Buildings? In my city all high density housing buildings stuck at level 3-4, but happiness is green and taxes are low. Is it a bug in simulation, I got relatively slow CPU (Ryzen 5 5600)?

It takes fucking hours. I mean serious hours.

I just maxed my high density out by basically deleting the rest of the city, I have 381k population atm. The trick to it is: Don't over Area everything. Make sure there's no 'unoccupied houses' anywhere.

Posted this in the thread too but here's some tips if you want to add them.

- Make sure you subsidize to the max. -10% taxes on commercials. 0% fees on water, electricity etcetera. This should be very easy later on. I still make $90m monthly.
- When leaving your PC running, go to some far corner of the map and look away from the map. Set your resolution lower and variable resolution to constant. Game will run like shit but it'll run much faster. Lock Windows afterwards. (Win key + L)
- In the General tab in Options, set Performance Preference to "Simulation speed". Not sure how much this speeds everything up but it can't hurt.
- Set autosaves to 30 min or longer. 5 minutes has started to crash the game for me much more often.

After 5 nights of leaving my PC on I've finally unlocked the first of the 3 High Residential buildings! It's painfully slow still and the game pauses when you unlock stuff so that likely cost me some time too.

The best way to get around the game pausing is to press the ` button. It disables the hud and therefore you can leave your PC on for as many hours as possible and the popup won't interrupt you!

I unlocked all NA stuff, only to now find out EU is seperate. Honestly fuck this game. I can't take another 2 weeks of letting my PC run.

I don't even see how I am going to do this in the same city. Demolishing all high residential makes everyone leave and there is zero demand for more.

Can it be done in a seperate city?

I genuinely don't see how people get this in 30 hours without using dev mode to make stuff level faster.

Fun fact, I messaged the entire top 15. The people that did reply all admitted to using the dev console lol.
No point in reporting it and last time I even insinuated this in a thread I got told off by staff. Goes to show you're better off just ignoring the rules and pretending you didn't...
I'll wait for an optimization patch or for mods to hopefully fix this once their mod store goes live. Can't be bothered running the game anymore.

Alright, finally just sat on it today. The best way to go about it, is after you complete the EU stuff is to get rid of all of your Zones that are already done, so you don't get the 'Empty Households' thing. That basically means you have Empty buildings (or half full residential lots.) Just deleting/Reputting down stuff, keeping your tax at minus numbers.

This can now be unlocked pretty much instantly by starting a new map with 'Unlock All' enabled whilst having downloaded the 'Achievement Enabler' mod from the in-game mod store.

Sure is a waste of the money I spent on power running this piece of shit...

It's through the in-game mod store, which is why I did it.
Surviving Mars has the exact same situation.

If the game didn't run like ass I would've played it for much longer but I lost all interest.
