How to unlock the Shenanigans! achievement in Cloudberry Kingdom - Definitive Guide

Shenanigans!

Complete Chapter 7 in Story Mode.

This is without a doubt got to be one of the top 10 hardest achievements on the site.

You play as Bob. A hero whose job is to make it through intense, almost impossible levels. The first 6 chapters of story mode pose no trouble for players but chapter 7 (Levels 241-320) is when people begin to give up.

The levels become longer, there are no checkpoints, and there's a lot more obstacles. Using slow motion and the orb path, you can make it through these levels pretty quickly up until level 319. The level is completely different from every other level in the game. Its 1 minute long and features about 800 obstacles. Also the orb path disappears about 70% through the level so you have to memorize the rest of the level by watching the AI. Its insanely tough but not impossible.

Level 320 is about 3x harder. The level is a minute and a half long, features about 1200 obstacles, and has a lot more harder jumps. The orb path disappears 33% through the level causing this to be much harder. The first 30 seconds of the level theres room for error, but right after the orb disappears, almost all jumps have to be perfect with no mistakes.

Here is what Pwnee has to say about the last 2 levels.

"As for creating those last two levels, there was a setting on our AI that basically altered the ways that levels were made – and the levels were created a whole lot more difficult that intended. We ended up removing that particular AI for most of the development until we decided to bring it back for the last two levels. We can’t really tell you the secret behind it, but the important thing to know is that it was used only for the final two levels."

There were a couple jumps that took me over 15 hours to figure out. Especially this one jump in the middle of the level. You have to jump at the perfect time to make it on that bug. Watch my video below to see what it looks like.

The only tip I can really give is to keep watching the AI do the levels and try to do exactly what he does. There are a few parts towards the end on 320 where doing something different than the AI will make it a lot easier. Watch what the AI does and then watch what I do in the video.

The entire story mode together took me about 100 hours to complete. Its not impossible, but just stupid hard. If you put in the time and effort, you will eventually get it. Its that simple!

First video is me completing 319 and second video is me completing 320 and the achievement unlocking.

Also when you get to the end of the level, don't forget to press X to finish it like I did in the third video shown.

Can you give more details on the difficulty curve of Chapter 7? I haven't gotten far into it yet, but levels 241 and 242 are much easier than the last 10 levels of Chapter 6. When does it start getting really hard?

I mean, I'll keep playing until I give up, and I haven't given up yet, but I wouldn't say chapter 6 "posed no trouble". So I'm wondering how much worse it's going to get before I even get to the dreaded penultimate level.

It is doable, me and my friends usually work together and pass at least 3-5 chapter 7 levels a day, though 319 and 320 are really hard, it is just practice.

Maybe it's not dead center, maybe it's from the ground up, idk. But a sawblade and firestick were both going through almost the whole top half of my wheelie and weren't killing me.

Just want to note after messing around on 313(save reset and had to start over) I realized that the actual wheelie hit marker is pretty close to the same size as the guide ball, dead center of the wheelie. Doesn't make 319 any easier, but it is useful to know what you can get away with.

This is not a guide, but a warning. Don't waste your time trying for this. You may think you know what's in store if you go through the first few levels of "Masochist", or play a Free Play level with all sliders maxed out, but you don't. There's a reason it's called "Shenanigans!" - I think it's a joke by the developer on us, and not a very funny one. angry The reason is simple: Level 319.

Some previous levels (like 310) are extremely tough (similar to a maxed-sliders Free Play level). But doing three 310s in a row would be trivial compared to level 319. Unlike the game's normally generated levels where the "path" involves running to the right at near full speed, 319 features the Wheelie hero bouncing unpredictably through the level, coming to a stop and accelerating, playing around on clouds, and just generally acting completely random. Naturally, the level is packed with obstacles such that the only way through is to match him precisely. The level's a minute long and features about 40 jumps. With a fair amount of effort, I've managed to survive the first *five*.

Perhaps with weeks of playing nothing but this level, somebody will manage it. I have my doubts; I don't think it's doable by a human.

EDIT: Fuzzy Gray Wolf filmed the AI playing through level 319 and put it on youtube. Thanks! I'm adding a link so you can see for yourself.

Yeah I saw that too but it doesn't matter if your going full speed running to the right. You always jump the same height. The highest bob can jump is exactly the height of the very first jump in the level. Watch here.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jG8aSdIOP7o

As you can see the jump is no where near the height of the insane jump the AI does on the swing. I have tried everything and there is no way to jump that high. It has to be a glitch. Its by far the hardest jump in the entire level and game!

Shouldn't be so quick to say impossible? Why not? If something is created merely to destroy your life and make you play it for days upon end just to try to get close to finishing this, you shouldn't be quick to say impossible? It took almost a year after the game's release for a player with video evidence to beat this. Not saying it took them that long, but regardless he has poured hours upon hours into this.

For the "average" joe and the above "average" joe, this is still rather impossible. I love platformers, always have and always will, but this game took the difficulty level way too far. They literally made it so you have to match a "near" perfect computer program and simulated level, just to complete it. As far as I know, only a few people in the world will be able to match that as we are only human.

As for comparing Shmups with Platformers, they're completely different. I find shmups a bit easier as you're not having to jump around with pinpoint accuracy while evading pre set patterns. Most of the time you can just slightly move and dodge bullets while shooting (memorization). Plus you normally have something to help remove bullets in your path if you get in a pinch (like in DS). As well as the fact that you have health in most shmups, and in most platformers you don't (When you do, it's like 3 lives just like shmups). Both do take extreme skills, and I will admit DS does take that to an extreme. This game is the DS to platformers.

Also, even if this game was region free, I do agree that even a small handful of japs would have completed this. I mean maybe 5-10 (+ 1 robot they create lulz), if even that. Regardless of that, I still believe a lot of them would even give up on this. Frankly, it's just not worth it.

Hey danpsfx, i noticed on the character selection screen that one of them is not available until player level 500. I'm really hoping that is NOT in story mode, as I'm stuck on a wheel level in the mid 220's.

So are the lasers in this randomized or does everything stay the same every time? I haven't played the game so I don't know how it controls or anything, but I'd say something like that would definitely make it practically impossible.

By Awoo on 04 Aug 2013 18:33
iv managed about 15 jumps in. just past the 6th cloud. but now i quit. to maintain the flow is just too hard. keeping with the line is not too bad, but to keep your jumps perfect is the hardest part imo. im gonna email them and thank them for fucking up my 100% completion.
0
0
By Warlord K1ng on 04 Aug 2013 18:44
That's the thing, it's not hard following the line, but the exact moments you need to jump/roll jump make this practically impossible. I say practically impossible because if someone can somehow mimic AI movements and has excellent timing, they'll be the only one's to beat this. You jump slightly off, and you're dead. Jump to high or low, you're dead. Be slightly off the line, you're dead. It's a joke. -_-

Also, sorry when I recorded that I had to use my phone, so it's kinda bad quality in the ability to see what has to be done exactly. If I had my DVR plugged in I would record it, but won't be able to do that for a little while (moving). Even still you can see the BS and how unnecessarily long that level is.

So I made it up to 319 this morning, spent several hours working on it, and I made better progress than I thought. I started out being unable to even get off the starting platform, but now I can make it to the first two bugs somewhat consistently. I've hit a brick wall, unfortunately, and my progress has stopped. Seriously, you are at the mercy of the game's hit box detection on this level and it's absurd how close to being hit you need to be to get around. If no one can beat this level after awhile, hopefully the devs will step in and tweak the difficulty down. I like a challenge, but this is just ridiculous.

Wow, um, ok. That was a lot of vitriol. I'm guessing you spent most of that mind-numbing 45 hours planning your big post for when you got through. wink And for the record, plenty of achievements have defeated me.

I'm sorry to hear 320 is even worse. I stand by my "solution". Those few gamers with enough patience/iron will/savant syndrome to pound their way through such an idiotic task won't be discouraged by a simple warning (and certainly don't need any help *I* can give). Everyone else can save their time and/or money.

Of course, you're free to write your own solution...

Muahaha, You sir are a fool! How dare you NOT give people false hope of getting this achievement! In all seriousness, the gamer that is so blatantly bragging that he beat this level has some solid completions. With that being said, it took him 45 hours to beat this level, which is less than a minute long!?! Yea, um....ok, I don't see how anyone could make a solution that would really help anybody. Your either gonna try level 319 and 320 for hundreds of hours or your not. So, I see this solution as a decent warning to the "casual" gamers. Only a few hardcore motherfuckers are even going to attempt this, so get off his dick, he is just trying to help the majority of gamers out.

I started level 102 and played it fir an hour before giving up and watch the ai play though it...the replay showed him jumping through every single obstacle as if they werent there so i looked it up online and it was a completely different level so i reloaded and it fixed the level back to normal

I'm at a loss as to why they would include an achievement like this. Do they not realise that they probably have lost a few sales over it? Needless to say at some point when I can muster the will power and strength I'll admirably try this. I'd call getting to 319 a personal achievement itself.

I praised all who got this. I'm not saying this is not difficult, but all 98 posts prior to my first post plus this guide are saying this is impossible and those without video proof cheated. I was merely saying there are much harder achievements and this is not that impossible. If it were available to all markets the ratio would most likely be lower and this whole thread would not exist. Again congrats to Gamer for pulling it off and you all should not be so quick so say somthing is impossible.

Another thing I noticed is that in the slo-mo part, you can see the AI turning left for just a split second (must be too fast to see at standard speed which is ridiculous in itself) before the jump. I don't know much about the game, but is it possible that that turnaround gives him a running jump instead of just a standing jump, and that gives him extra height?

I have some experience with tough shmups. It's certainly a hardcore genre, and yes, a few of the toughest shmup achievements are arguably harder than this one. However, they're also nowhere near as mind-numbing to get. There's a reason gamerboy is the only one with this achievement, and trying to act like it's nothing special just makes you look like an idiot.

I don't understand why this achievement is so hard. Is it because you have to do the level exactly the way the ai does it and if you don't, but still complete the level in any other way, it still won't count as a completion?

Or is just simply just completing level 319 & 320 by avoiding all the lasers/dying.

Please can someone enlighten me because I don't want to sound big headed or anything, it really doesn't look hard.

There is no other way but the way the AI does. The game also controls like absolute shit, making tiny precise movements like that much harder than they should be,

Fuzzy: Yeah, I was wondering why nobody had this achievement yet. Now we know! It's especially frustrating because even getting to 319 is no walk in the park.

danpsfx: It seems likely there are 320 levels, and I suspect level 320 will be some sort of joke level included in case the impossible happens and someone makes it through 319. We probably won't know until the PC version arrives and somebody cheats their way through.

Hairy Cabbage: Yeah, normally I'm up for a challenge, but everyone has a limit!

KJer25: Your "player level" increases when you finish Arcade levels, too. It doesn't mean there are 500 levels.

@ Aracane - I would never let an achievement dictate if I bought the game or not (although a lot of people will). However, this is a good warning on the level of difficulty for most gamers to take into account. It is pretty clear SnapDragon and yourself are great gamers and you both have solid completions. So, with that beings said, it just seemed that a few of your posts were a bit over the top. I mean the guy is just trying to help out and you jump down his throat. In the end it is just an achievement though, so maybe try to post the helpful tips like you did, but leave out the jabs you threw in a couple of posts up. On a positive note - congrats on beating the level, 45 hours is fucking nuts!

It appears theres a glitch on 320 making it nearly impossible. Watch this video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKbKkI0r1RY

Where I died at in the video is where the glitch is. Watching the AI do it, it shows him jumping right between the boulders and thats what I do. I jump at the exact same time as the AI does too. I come no where near landing on the bug. I have gotten to that same spot probably 60 times now and still come no where near landing on the bug.

It seems the AI gets some kind of super jump ability right there. Wonder if Arcane Insanity has gotten past that part.

Woohoo I finally completed this game :)

One Note about Level 319:
USE THE 3D-JOYSTICK. USE IT!
I personally prefer the D-Pad over the 3D-Stick too...
BUT i found out, that pointing into a direction with full range has more impact on the movement than doing the same with the D-Pad.
Therefore it's easier to control the Bouncy Wheel Bob with the 3D-Joystick.

I know there are already videos from the last level but here are my runs with hands visible:

Thanks for the reply. I'm a dpad guy too and a few tries in last night I quickly switched to the joystick too. Definitely has more getup and go for the wheelie. Already made it back to that jump several times. I just have so much trouble stopping on that platform, and then timing the 2 jumps after and the positioning. Hopefully with your advice and some persistence I'll get past it soon.

@DDShadow: Thank you too.
I even used the videos from you to learn level 319 and 320.
They were quite helpfull :)
I think you can learn more from real people doing this levels, rather than watching the Built-In AI.
The movements of real people are just more natural to press

I am so impressed!

I played this game now and I am at level 319. That level is just insane. I struggle at the very first cloud. Its just crazy!

I wonder how long time it took you to learn that part and also the rest for level 319 and also level 320.

I think level 319 is the toughest one because you are in that ball.

I did not struggle with any level prior this. Longest they took was about 30 min. I think level 318 was the third toughest one. level 310 I didn't struggle with so much but I enjoyed that level. I feel level 318 should have been the last one or two more that is just like that one with the same difficulty.

Cheers

Regarding losing your save!

I noticed that when I play on my us xbox the game tell me to sign in to live even if I am. For hybrid rush level 50 it wont unlock if I am signed in or so it seems. (But I am signed in) So I downloaded the game on my other xbox. When I transferred my save file it take away all my progress.

So I went back to my us xbox and copy back the save and then it was fine.

I tried again on my other xbox and I was set back to zero progress.

So it seems you have to play the game on the same xbox with the same save file in order to not get reset. Very weird!

And problem for me is that the hybrid rush achievement doesn't seem to unlock if I am on my American xbox. So I got no choice than to start over until I can reach hybrid rush. And do this on my other xbox.

Weirdest thing I have seen when it comes to save files!

@MattiasAnderson:
wow, that's crazy. I've had the same problem with my Cloudberry Kingdom Savegame.

One day i went to a friend with my profile, cloudberry kingdom game and save game on USB-Stick. I wanted to show him level 319 when i arrived there.

But when i tried to start the game on his xbox, it couldn't load the game progress on his xbox. I tried everything (Using xbox 360 cloud storage, redownloading profile on his xbox 360, and so on...) but nothing worked.

I know for some old xbox 360 arcade games, there is no actual "game save" file. I've heard that some arcade games save the progress in the "Gamer Profile".

However, it was impossible for me to play Cloudberry Kingdom on any other xbox360 than the one i used to get to level 319. Really annoying...

Just for the record my save reset on the same save on the same Xbox. No funny business. Almost reset again this morning. Turned it on and save was gone. Quickly dash boarded and tried again and it was back. Got lucky this time.

I haven't been able to view the leaderboards lately either. Says I need to be connected to live when I am.

319 took 60-70 hours and 320 took 25 hours. Without a doubt one of the hardest achievements ever.

Congrats vin. Excellent work. I'm almost back to 319 after my save reset. Hopefully one day I'll pull this off too. Just get sidetracked by so many other games. Any real tips for that stupid double jump on that tiny platform in 319? Got me so many times.

@Shadykilla420: Thx.
I know the jump you mean. It's at 0:43 in my video.
The secret about this jump is how you land on that platform, that moves you up there.
Make sure that you press left as soon as you are safe to land on the platform.
You should stand still a little bit before the platform reaches it's highest point.
At the highest point press jump without pressing any direction. (or sliiiiiightly pressing right)
It's okay if you jump a little bit higher than the ball from the guideline.
Then move to the right direction with full intensity, hold right until you do the jump to the lower platform.

Another important thing: USE THE 3D-JOYSTICK. I added the explaination above in the guide

Maybe the hands in my video can help you more :)
Good luck.

This achievement may or may not be obtainable. As of now, nobody has legitimately won this achievement or gotten past level 319 in story. While still theoretically possible since the AI can find a route through the level, it remains to be done by a human.

This is the one trophy that will really put you through the wringer. It is also the reason why the roadmap estimates such an expansive span of time, and why the difficulty is rated as 10/10. This chapter is no joke.

So what is so bad about this trophy you may ask? Well, Chapter 7 is entitled "The Masochist" and it consists of levels 241-320. With a name like "The Masochist" you would expect these levels to be very difficult, and you would be right. However, the difficulty gets a severe spike right at level 319 where you play as Wheelie Bob and are confronted by thousands of obstacles on one screen. Few people have made it past this level, nevermind 320. If you want to see level 319 in action, watch the following video of the A.I completing it provided by Synophis:

If you were lucky enough to surpass level 319, hold on! There's still one more trial of impending doom for you to conquer. The following video depicts level 320, as completed by the A.I, in all of its horrible glory. Credit to Synophis for the video:

It has also been brought to my attention by user Synophis that the final levels, 319 and 320, appear to be platform specific. That is, they are different on Xbox and PS3. Note that both of the above videos show level 319 and 320 as they appear on PS3.

Synophis also provided this tip for completing the final two levels:

You can get the pathfinder ball to be on top of your character, when you play with two players. The ball, however, disappears at around the halfway mark so you need to memorize the rest.

PST user ThanatosNinja2 pointed out another glitch that affects two levels in the last chapter, namely 284 and 301. When watching the A.I. replay, the A.I. may sometimes jump through obstacles without dying. This can usually be resolved by quitting to the XMB and reloading the game.

There is also a great thread you can view by clicking HERE, where users have been discussing this trophy and providing tips and additional advice.
