How to unlock the Crysis, What Crysis? achievement in Crysis 2 - Definitive Guide

Update 8-23-17 CTR Is currently unavailable. Please reffer to other solutions for fastest method. Will update if CTR returnes
Update 2-24-14 CTR is back... Take a break from 24 kill boosting. Also you don't have to clear your systems cache..

Capture the relay game type is back for some people who have deleted the cache.. i don't know if it has to do with the recent xbox update. but i won't be 24 kill boosting anymore...

Edit: its just like cod 3 flag tossing, one person from each team goes to the other teams relay and picks it up and drops it while the other team stands around the relay pad to return it. 100xp per person per drop. also 1 thing we found when i did this was that the person with the best connection should be tossing for one team. they seem to be able to go much faster. the host can get up 80,000xp a round for him and the other team returning for him. the non host tosser can make about 60,000 a round for himself and the enemy team that is returning. either way that is way faster then 24 kill boosting...

This is also a great way to get Modern art, Dressed to kill and Tooled up

If neg feedback please explain so i can make changes

its just like cod3 boosting.. you need at least six people.. one per on from each team goes to enemy relay and you pick up and drop the relay while they other team returns it.. about 100xp every sec..

This is way better than getting 24 kills on instant action. You can level your armour, power and stealth all at the same time doing this. To do this you must either use your shield or cloak whether you're the tossing or defending. I went from rank 21 to 41 in 3 hours.

Dumb question, but do you need to do anything to get this to work? I saw a reference to deleting your cache... do you need to do this before trying it? Or does it just work without doing anything special (other than doing the boost, of course)? Thanks

no that was all we did.. delete the cache and then start the game and the capture the relay game type should be there..if noticed may have been patched.. i know when i found it it only stayed unpatched for about 3 days...

EDIT: Got this today, felt really good :D
Just want to say you get 5k exp for collecting 1k Dog tags, skill kills 1k cloaked kills and other things, which aren't that hard to get.
Hope this helps.
-----

Hey guys, Capture the Relay has been patched you can only get this legit and i just wanted to share a few tips on how to do that..

I got rank 45 yesterday and im almost rank 46, playing a few hours a day im getting around 50k or so experience a day.. Im not the best of players; or the worst, but i just thought i'd offer some tips and advice for everyone trying to get this achievement..

Firstly, dont focus too much on the "getting kills with weapons challenges", it gives bad experience for what you have to do (e.g. 1k exp for getting like 350kills), and you will get more experience sticking to guns that you are skilled with, rather than using guns in which aren't too great trying to get the challenge done..
Example being im not too bad with the Scarab, but im horrible with the Grendel, if i get 15 kills 4 deaths with the scarab thats better than 10 kills 7 deaths with the Grendel even leading to that extra experience..

Secondly, Attachment challenges: Suppressor & the 3 sights (Reflex, Assault & Laser) will net you 5k exp when you get to 100 kills, with a bit of exp on other milestones e.g. when you get 20 and 50 kills you'll get some experience also..
Other challenges are skill kills..once you get a certain amount of double kills e.g. 10 double kills will net you a lump sum of 1000xp, most skill kills you wont aim to do, but they will provide you with some extra experience..

Thirdly, Other Challenges: Every 5 matches or so just go on Operative status and then go on skill assessments, try and go for some of the things listed under "Challenge" as they are one time experience mines, and also under Alternative kills you have Kill 50 enemies whilst crouched which will net you some experience also..

Next is Modules, There are two "Levels" for each module, i --:_ALWAYS_:-- select modules which are just 'Kill x amount of people with x module equipped', this way you can work on three modules at once. You will get 2500 exp for getting the kills for the first level of it, and 5000exp for the second level, which is normally 350 kills, once you have maxed a module, just select different perks and start again.. One tip i'll give you guys is not to select "Nano Recharge" as whilst it is NOT selected as a perk every time you are damaged and recover health, it'll still go up in number, i have never selected it since i started Crysis 2 and im currently on 438/500 (at 500 i get 2500exp and a module upgrade).

I know its tempting to keep the best modules as you might play better with them, but its not too hard to adjust with different modules & i had 2 max modules pop in one match meaning i got 16k exp in one match.

Edit:
SuddenThunder has suggested using retriever as once at level two it reduces kills needed for kill streaks by one, and the killstreaks themselves give experience, plus having radar up all the time will help you with your kills, thats for sure. Its up to you guys whether you think this will be more experience than getting it to level 3 and selecting another for the 7.5k Lump involved in getting level 3 in another module; Thanks SuddenThunder!

Finally, i'd just like to suggest some equipment to use..

I only really use 4 different 'Classes'
I will list these as A/B/C/D.
This is only to try help people, if you do not want to read this, then you are at the end of the solution.

Secondary weapons are of preference, i prefer the AY69 to the Majestic because it has a rapid rate of fire and packs a punch in close encounter situations and there is no pause between shots unlike the Majestic.
Grenades, i think Frags are a no brainer simply because you can throw randomly or whilst allies are fighting enemies and mostly get a kill, i probably would be awful at the game if not for Frag kills helpin' my K/D :P

A -
Primary Weapon: Scarab w/ Reflex Sight/Extended Magz/Suppressor.
Secondary Weapon: AY69
Grenade: Frag Grenade.
Purpose: This is my most used class, the suppressor allows you to sneak behind and pick off enemies without being noticed.

B-
Primary Weapon: K-volt
Secondary Weapon: AY69
Grenade: Frag Grenade.
Purpose: More for maps which require running without much cover, The K-volt drains nanosuit energy and so fights with other armoured nanosuits you are given the advantage.

C- Primary Weapon: Scar w/ Assault Scope & Extended Magz
Secondary Weapon: AY69
Grenade: Frag Grenades.
Purpose: More for maps which are larger, the assault scopes gives extra range and once your used to it is quite a good attachment to be fair.

D-
Primary Weapon: Jackal with Extended Magz.
Secondary Weapon: Majestic
Grenade: Frag Grenade.
Purpose: Only really use this on really small maps like Terminal and also Impact, i use the Majestic as its very powerful and one shot from it normally finished them off if shot at with Shotgun.

If anyone is using the above, but is struggling with which class to use on each map, then i've wrote what i prefer down:
Skyline: C Pier 17: C Impact: D/B
Wall Street: A/C Terminal: D/B
Parking Deck: A/C Statue: A/C
Liberty Island: A/C Evac Zone: A/C
City Hall: A/C Lighthouse: C
Sanctuary: A/B/C Downed Bird: C

The reason A/C are used a lot as it depends on playstyle, sometimes i prefer Assault scope and sometimes Reflex/Suppressor, just depends on mood etc..

I hope this solution helps and please comment with constructive criticism rather than vote negatively and help me make this guide better.

Thanks! ^^

Hmm, thats interesting that Thunder, i'll edit it onto my solution, thanks, although i wonder if its worth it instead of the 7.5k exp you'd get from using another perk once your done with it..

Sorry, yeap def best to max out the other power ones first. Save retreiver for last. Thats what I did. I also agree that using the ones that require being within a certain distance are useless for leveling up quickly. Except for the extended cloak, because thats one the better stealth ablities. Put over two days of game time into this rubbish laggy game. Its being a real grind playing with constant red bar connections, now at 47. The end is in sight....

Yeah, ive maxed out all wins on TIA and crashsite, as well as those mvps. prob bout 8 or 9 of each module power, stealth etc Got most of the challenges done, but cos of the lag can only use fast firing guns such as feline, and scarab and scar. Nearly maxxed out those weapons, but will have to stick with them. Crash site is prob most enjoyable to play, easier to get a lot of xp for sitting near the site, plus offensive/defensive kills. Leveled up to 48 in one session last night, lol.

Awesome bro, that sounds good, i'd really try change weapon if you reach 1k kills, though if your 48, 3 weapons at 1k should get you to 50 im sure, K-volt isn't bad too!

I've actually found another useful tip to gain xp more quickly is to keep retreiver as your power perk. When you get to level two with it, it reduces the number of tags you need for a support bonus by one. So by getting two kills, you get radar, which gives 100xp, the same as killing someone in TIA. Those 100xp bonus soon start adding up quckly, as well as making the game easier by having a lot of radar going during your game time. That and one of the challenges requires you to collect 1000 dog tags for 5000xp.

I have found another good boosting method in capture the relay. Set up two parties of 6 and search for each other in the onslaught game type. Vote for City Hall and when the match starts have coordinated groups of two and take turns through rounds. one person from each team stays at their own relay and the rest of the team goes to the opposite. take turns picking up the relay... when you pick up the relay the person on the other team staying behind kills you with a headshot... make sure when you grab the relay that you are cloaked so the person will get 400-450 points a kill, this will also count towards headshot challenges and others that you want to go for. my record in one match is 20,000 and that is pretty good without the other capture the relay method,
If you have any questions comments or concerns please PM or comment down below, And Positive or Negative feedback please comment explaining your reason, Thank you EDIT: refer to the comments by G2 Covers for a better explained version of this

Here's the method.
Play capture the relay. If everyone in the session is a high enough level play classic to avoid randoms.

Have the person with the best connection on each team run to the enemy relay. If you don't have the best connection the lag massively slow you down.

Everyone else bunches around the relay. Make sure to activate an armor ability or slightly move every minute to avoid being kicked.

This is the important part!
The person throwing switches to their pistol.
Have that person hold X to pick up the relay. The second you pick up the relay press "Y" to drop it. The quicker you press "Y" after you pick it up the more points you get. Immediately after pressing "Y" hold "X". Than press "Y", hold "X" ECT.

The time between picking up the relay, pressing "Y" holding "X" should be quick. Like under a half of a second quick. YholdX YholdX YholdX

There's a rhythm.

This is the newest boosting method. Previously, the killer would just do the killing at their respective relay, as the continual “drop-pickup” method is no longer in effect.

As always, you’ll be using the game mode Capture the Relay on the map City Hall, which is accessed through Onslaught. I’ll be referring to the sides as Side A and Side B. Side B is the side with the raised platform. Side A would then be the side parallel, respectively.

The main idea here is as the killer you want to be on the side the enemy spawns. This way you can get kills/XP much quicker as the enemy has less distance to travel to get killed. On Side A you’ll be doing the killing in the far back, usually underneath or around the large alien tentacle. On Side B the killing is done in the walkway underneath the overhang.

You must have a minimum of six to start a match. Two people will be killing for a full match, which consists of two rounds, then you rotate. Depending on how long you’re willing to boost will determine how many rotations you get in. Once the match starts, the people killing will run to the opposite sides (to the locations stated above) and one of the people getting killed will run and grab the enemy relay and carry it to their side to get killed.

Sometimes the relay will fall through the map, when this happens, simply continue running to get killed. As soon as the relay returns to its post, one of the kill-ees must retrieve it and bring it back. You can only retrieve the dog tags when someone is holding the relay, otherwise you’ll return it. You also can’t get too close when killing (so melee kills are out of the question), otherwise you’ll return it as well, upon their death.

To speed up the leveling process, always be working on various skill assessments when killing. This method is the newest boosting method and has a far greater XP outcome than the previous killing method. Hope this is useful in aiding you fellow achievement hunters to level 50. It’s a decent grind but this method definitely decreases it.

Requirements:

- 2 people since you will be using the "drop-pickup" method in Capture the Relay
- Atleast one level 12 player since Capture the Relay is available at level 12

Trying to gather atleast 6 people to start a boosting session can be tedious nowadays. Plus not everyone can do the "drop-pickup" method at the same time in a Capture the Relay match. However, it is now faster than ever to get rank 50 thanks to the glitch discovered by the TA user Sudden Fall.

The glitch allows you to start a public match by yourself. Yes, you heard it right. No more 6 people needed, yay! headspin You can even customize the match settings if you are fast enough. You can for example increase/decrease match duration, change the amount of kills required to win an Instant Action match, etc.

So how does the glitch work? Well, Sudden Fall made a great YouTube video that you can check out here. I sometimes managed to get the glitch to work in my first try while sometimes I kept struggling for a few minutes. But believe me, it's worth the try as it will save you a LOT of time in your road to rank 50.

For those having a hard time to pull of the glitch: the key is to keep switching between public and private modes fairly quickly until the game gives you the option to start a public match by yourself. I recorded this clip to show you how it's done. I hope it will help.

Now that you know how the glitch works, here's the quickest way to level up ("drop-pickup" method).
  1. Start a public Capture the Relay match by using the glitch.
  2. Invite the other person once the game has started. The other person isn't level 12 yet? No worries. Here's something I discovered: since the match is glitched, you can invite anyone no matter their level.
  3. Meet at one of the two relays.
  4. Make sure you are standing close enough to each other, next to the relay.
  5. Have someone keep picking up and dropping the relay until the match ends. Make sure that the other player doesn't sit idle for too long otherwise they will get kicked and the game will end.
  6. Repeat the steps above until level 50.
Both players should earn the same amount of points: +100 for the player picking up the relay / +100 for the player bringing the relay back.

I personally managed to reach level 50 in 7.5 hours by double boxing.

Bonus: you can also work on the Dressed to Kill achievement by activating an armor ability while doing the "drop-pickup" method.

One of the long haul achievements. Play any gametype you enjoy and just work your way up to level 50. It'll take around 1.4 million worth of XP to reach the top.

For a good boosting method, please go HERE. Please be warned Crytek now know the game is being abused like this are in the process of fixing it and dealing with people that maybe using it. So boost at your own risk!

guys, everything is very simple, go into repeater mode, one person from the team goes to the enemy’s repeater, do the same from the opposite group, approach the repeater, take it and throw it away, square-triangle, in your hands a pistol to speed up the process, the main thing is don’t shoot, friend at each other, with proper skill, for a game of 8 minutes (30,000 xp), in the end you will reach level 50 in 15-20 hours, the main thing is to agree not to shoot at each other.

The fastest way to upgrade for January 2018.
We assemble a team of 6 people, select the Capture Repeaters mode, the very first map.
In order not to get confused, we set a clan mark for everyone from 1st to 6th, respectively.
The host creates a game and resets it until, for example, the 1st and 2nd numbers are in different teams (who is boosting, meaning 2 people).
Those who are boosted during respawn run to the opposite edge of the map, where the enemies have respawned and standing here, enemies appear and he kills them. One of the team brings the enemy's relay to his respawn. The booster kills the one who has the repeater in his hands, but DOES NOT PICK IT UP, but constantly kills those who are with him. Don’t forget to constantly use radar, orbital strike and nanosuit when picking up tokens from dead people. These are extra points.
In this way you can dial from 16 to 30 thousand in 10 minutes.

If you have a permanent team. and people won’t be stupid, then raise your level more or less quickly.
Constantly change weapons, kill with grenades and so on (complete exams).

In theory, it’s not particularly difficult to get to lvl 50 and honestly in the Team Deathmatch mode (nowadays this mode is played by the most people).

1. Before Custom Class 1 opens, we play for the preset “Attack” class (the very first one, has a SCAR prong and a couple of good perks).

2. Once we opened Custom Class 1, we upgrade the same SCAR and an automatic shotgun, and various other weapons as desired - a machine gun, Feline (I don’t particularly recommend it, it’s a crappy submachine gun). You don't have to take the rest of the weapons. Additional weapon - Uzi'shka.

3. On narrow maps it is advantageous to use shotguns. The rest have assault rifles. Your goal is rank 27 (Operative III). It unlocks the best SCARAB assault rifle in the game. Once we opened the SCARAB, we installed a red dot sight and a silencer on it. We get a tough-kill assault rifle with a high rate of fire and not much spread and weight!

4. Regarding perks, I recommend using “Phantom” (camouflage turns on faster), “Increased energy” (reduces energy costs when jumping and running by 50%) and Marauder (tokens from killed enemies are automatically collected and you don’t need to run up to the corpses, you can constantly receive additional points for enabling special features).
