How to unlock the Messiah of Darkness achievement in Dark Messiah of Might and Magic Elements - Definitive Guide
Ok I think I'll throw my hat in the ring on this one as well. These are all great solutions in various forms, but I still think they lack a little clearity (no offense) Hopefully I will be able to put this all together for you and it will combine everything said thus far and become very clear.
Here are the essentials:
1. Only Ranked Matches count for kills!
2. 8 different gamertags are needed to start Ranked matches.
3. Only about 127 kills count, If you go over the kill counter resets to 0 and that includes any kills you have gotten.
4. A good sense of humor or conversation skills to keep everyone going!
Now to the difference (per se)
My groups method:
Game Type: Deathmatch (it's free for all)
MAP: Waylands Keep. (it's relatively small and provides a common kill gorund with benifits that I will explaine a little further down)
TIME LIMIT: 20 min.
2 gamers on Undead. (They will earn the kills for the match.)
6 gamers on Human side. (They will die horrible for the match.)
Undead gamers (Pick Mages, with turret ability)
Turrets will never deplete in magical energy and they will never get destroyed, UNLESS someone deals damage to them (shoot with arrow, hit with sword etc..) OR they get a richochet (Blow back damage) effect that is why it is unwise to use the Lighting turret. Instead use any other turret. and any other abilities you like. (Fireball and Firestorm so work wonders as well durring the match)
When the match begins, the two undead players will be earning the kills, head out and find the courtyard area (middle of the map) this courtyard has two sets of stairs. Both undead gamers will choose the same set of stairs (this is essential) One on one side the other on the opposite side.
Both undead gamers will set up thier turrets so that they can fire freely into the courtyard without hitting the others turret. (This is why you set up on opposites sides of the same set of stairs.)
Now for 20 minutes, the Humans, will charge recklessly into the turrets (if you want to do damage to yourselves then by all means pick mages and use the burnig finger or fireball directly at the ground or the wall to do damage to your self. (Just becareful not to over do it and kill yourself or someone nearby)
There is also a run spell that helps you move a lot faster for both mages and archers. STAY AWAY from being warriors as they are slow and harder to kill.
Using the B button the two undead gamers getting the kills will watch their scores, they should stay within 300 points of each other. Doing it this way, both undead gamers will net about between 100 - 120 kills each, keeping them both just under the reset limit, but netting them both the most kills.
This method will run 8 players thru, each netting around 120 kills and being just under 2 hours. Break it down in to mutliple sessions or just round robin till everyone is done in about 5 to 6 hours.
Sticking to the above 20 min. 300 score difference will usually keep you in check, but I'm obligated to tell you this:
WARNING!!!!:
20 min games can be a bit boring and It is possible that if you have a very good effective boosting group that you CAN BOTH go over the reset limit so KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR KILLS!!
****EDIT****
We have found that a group of 8 can get very efficient at this, getting kills up to the Kill count reset limit well before the 20 min match time limit. When (not if) you get your group this good, then it is suggested to rotate the gamers doing the killing and have 4 people killing per match. Each taking 10 minutes!
Thanks go out to all those brave souls before me and the great effort and experimentation it took to find all of this info out.

Wasn`t this Ellusions idea in the first place. He should have been credited fore the idea at least. Just wondering
By SnikeneUllteppe on 09 Nov 2012 11:33
Idk who Ellusion is, but this was something we had herd of and tweaked ourselves... So yes it should be credited to a group of gamers. If Elusion was the original gamer who thought of it then by all means be deserves most of the credit and should have put this up. I don't like to take credit for anyone else's solutions, but this was never put up so I can not honestly say who thought of it first. It's for everyone to use.
If anyone is offended then I'm sorry and will gladly give credit where credit is due. No one has approached me about this before. Also I'm also not going to just give credit because someone said so and his achievement was unlocked first. If he has a few friends willing to post that he did in fact come up with this first then that's good enough for me.
Again no hard feelings, I was just trying to get this info out as I have had a few people contact me about how to boost this quicker.

Just to to follow up on the advice above.
Within a single session, the game will only award 127 kills before rolling back to 0 (i.e., if you get 140 kills in a single session, you will only be credited with 12 toward your overall total.) At a rate of ~10 kills/minute, no one should kill for over ten minutes without risking wasting much of that time.
Additionally, I have been involved with seven people earning this achievement. It fired in-game four times and at the end of game status screen three times.
Hope this helps.

I've just recently finished this, and here's how we mostly did it (without repeating too much that has been said already ;) )
8 players are essential, 4 killers per round, 5 mins killing each as above, Deep Forest is good but we did it on Wayland Keep. Takes a little while to learn the layout, but the open area in the middle gives a nice big killing area with clear visibility.
Here's the trick: Have All players set up as a mage. Best setup is custom with three points on elemental (giving a turret) and one on the electric one (so 3 on top, one on bottom).
The killer sets up a turret a bit away from the kill zone (otherwise the bolts bounce to the turret and kill it too) and then plugs away at the others with lightening. You can use the meteor storm twice in a 5 min block too as long as it's cast at the start and end.
All players who are dying should have "Burning Finger" and on their way to the kill zone should fire at the floor (literally just hold RB). Just be careful to let go of RB when you are nearly dead, optimally 1 or 2 burning fingers from death. A single bolt from the killer or a couple from their turret should then be enough to kill you off.
Looking at the stats when I tried this, I upped my deaths per round (when I was not killing) from around 35 to around 50 so it gives a fairly big boost to the sessions overall.
Hope that helps whizz through it a bit quicker :)

Something to add about the 127 kill reset, that happened to me once and I ended up w/ the scoreboard saying 5 kills on one match and another guy got 22, the achievement still unlocked for me and him on time though so it seems the 127 roll over only really affects the leaderboard or possibly once you turn the xbox off you might lose those kills.
Map of choice.
Pick the map "Dark Forest" and have a list up with the names of everyone in the session. The first 4 on the list gets kills in the first match and the last 4 gets kills in the next one, swap player killing every 5 minutes. Just make sure that everyone gets to boost an equal amount of times.
The most effective way of boosting. (According to my knowledge.)
Everyone pick the mage class with the burning finger spell, that way you can drain your own health down to near minimum while running to the turret. Except the one doing the killing, he/she should pick the turret spell and put up your turret a couple of meters away from the bundle of mages wanting to die, since you can destroy your own turret with Friendly Fire. And just use the charge'able fireball spell and throw it down into the bundle of mages and use the Meteor ability on X when it's off the CD and you'll probably notice that you'll run out of mana all the time but just stand on the log with 2-3 mana potions spawning every so often and you'll have a great position to launch the fireballs at the others and refill your mana! I hope that helps.
Rinse and repeat and you'll have the achievement in no time.
Thanks to genericchicken8 for the tip about burning finger.

Note: As of 2022, the Online Game Mode for this game is still working. But I would suggest you get the Online Achievements done for this game, sooner than later.
The Online for this game is Dead, so your going to need to Boost It. It is highly suggested that if you have Dummy Accounts & Extra Copies of the Game and Consoles, to bring them in as well.
This game is Not Backward Compatible on the other XBox Consoles. And the game has a bad habit of Freezing your Consoles on regular occasions.
Finally, it is recommended to install the game to your Hard-Drive if you are playing the game with a Retail Disc. It takes 6.8GB's.
This Achievement has to be done in a Ranked Match.
You will need a minimum of 8 Players, to get the Achievement.
Just imagine if this Achievement required you to get 6,666 Kills Each. That's what I thought the Achievement was at first, until it said 666 Kills. Sigh of Relieve that's for sure.
So, you need to get a total of 666 Kills, and only Kills in Ranked Matches will count towards the Achievement. There's a possibility if you work on other Achievements first, before this one, then you will likely have some Kills towards this Achievement already.
Important: There is a Glitch in the game that Screw's around with the Scoreboard in the Game. What happens is, after you get a certain amount of Kills, the in-game scoreboard will reset and will go back to 0. It's unknown if the Kills you gain after this Glitch are counted, or if they are lost and you have to get them all over again. This is because the Leaderboards in the game, don't give you proper details on your Kills, and are very broken. I'm told the total amount of Kills you can get in a match is 127. But unless you have been counting how many Kills you have done in the match, you will have no idea how many you have done, as you don't see it on your screen, until the Match is complete.
The other problem is each time you attack an enemy, or get a Kill. You get Points. The amount of Points our Boosting Group estimated you can get which equals around 127 Kills is 19,000 Points. It is highly suggested, you get a total of 18,000 Points and the person who is getting the Kills to Stop, before they could possibly get their Score & Kills Reset, and all could be lost during the Match.
Alright. So the best Game Mode to get this Achievement is a Ranked Deathmatch. I would suggest one person doing the Kills is the Host. This is so that they can progress towards this achievement...
Now they need to Create a Ranked Match in Deathmatch...
The Map I highly recommend is Deep Forest. It's the best Map we used for Boosting...
Now once the Lobby is Created, everyone then needs to search for it and hope they can successfully join...
Now you all need to decide 2 people that wish to go for the Kills. Once that is decided, those 2 Players need to choose a Mage Class, and make sure they choose the Elemental as their Attack Formation. You do not have to worry about choosing to be on the Human or Undead. But the way we did it, which might make things easier is have the people doing the Kills play as Human's/Undead. And the people getting Killed can be the opposite of whatever they decide...
Once everyone has chosen their Teams & Characters & Ready Up. The Host can press the button to Launch The Match...
Now. The actual Boosting. Believe it or not, the person who is going for the Kills, will end up doing Nothing. It's everyone else that will be doing the hard work of running and getting Killed for the duration. I'll provide a Step-By-Step Guide for the people getting the Kills to help out...
Step 1: On the Map (Deep Forest), there are 2 Bases on each side of the Map. Easily noticeable. Circular Roundlike Locations. Where you would Spawn if you do Team Game Modes. Some of you possibly would have spawned in that location anyway. The 2 people getting Kills need to head to each of these Bases. 1 on each side.
Step 2: Now for the Killing Player, if you look around this location, there are 2 main directions you can originally run across that kind of resembles a Letter V. You should be standing at the bottom of this V Section, facing the Base itself. This is where you will want to plant a Turret.
Step 3: To plant a Turret, press down equip a Turret. Then press and hold the button. Your character should then be raising their Arms up and down, and will eventually summon the Turret. Once Planted, get out the way in case the Turret damages you too.
Step 4: Go and hide somewhere on the Map where you cannot be Killed and remain their until the rest of the Match, or until you reached the Score Limit. The reason is because if you get Killed, your Turret will be destroyed. If you have to remove the Turret, this can be done by pressing the button to re-plant it elsewhere or remove it.
Players Getting Killed: Pretty much, all you have to do is run to any Turret's that's closest to you and get yourselves Killed. It is like watching Paint Dry, because the Turret takes ages to drain your health, before you are Dead. In addition, you will have to move to get yourself Killed, because when you respawn, you will have Invulnerability, unless you Move or perform an Attack. So Yeah, a bit of Work to do in that area. But at least the Map is small and you haven't got to run too far for it anyway.
Keep on doing this until the Player getting the Kills reaches a Score Limit of 18,000 Points, or until the Time Runs out. When the Match is completed, make a Note of how many Kills you have, and get the Host to Re-Host on the same Map and Game Mode. Then rinse and repeat all of the above. Decide among yourselves if you want to just work on the 2 individual Players that need the Achievement. Or choose 2 different Players to take turns getting Kills to change the cycle until everyone has got the Achievement.
Warning: The Game has a bad habit of Freezing on your Consoles. Or it could possibly Disconnect you from the Match. If you are disconnected from the Match by either of these outcomes, you will not be able to get back into the Match, until the Host has Re-Hosted the Lobby. If this happens to the player getting Kills, anything achieved in the Match will be lost.
Side Notes
For the person that's getting the Kills as a Mage, they will likely get these Achievements, if they don't have them...
You can also work on some other Achievements related to the Classes if you wish. But bear in mind that if you do, you cannot use the Turret Method with the other Classes. Only a Mage has a Turret...
On the other hand. There are some other Achievements you will likely get if you manage to stay away from your Turret, and being Killed by anyone else that's getting Killed by the Turrets. Here are the Achievements...
This Achievement will not unlock until the Match you are playing through is Completed.
This Achievement will unlock as soon as you meet the requirement.
If you end up being the Winning Player for the Match with the Most Kills & Score Points, you will also progress towards this achievement...
Overall, this Achievement will take awhile for everyone to get. But at least it's 666 Kills, and not 6,666 Kills like I predicted.
Good Luck & Happy Turret Killing!
