How to unlock the Valorous Finned Hero achievement in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes - Definitive Guide

More of a tip than a full guide. If you are struggling because you keep getting turned around or turning the opposite direction, stop using the left stick to steer. Use the D-Pad. I was no where close and then started with the DPad and made it actually possible.

The controls for this are so terrible. I couldn't believe just changing from joystick to d pad took me from failing 2 attempts for the first required race to 2nd place.

There's a total of 4 races in this. To start a race, you'll need talk to the same character you spoke to start it in the story, in Impershi'arc

You'll first be able to race for Novice, Medium and Advanced, then you'll unlock Specialist.

Novice race : Below 9"96
Pretty straight forward (lol) as it only require to go forward. No turn, no really hard things
Just use your dash as soon as you have it and you should go through this round without too much trouble

Medium race : Below 27"06
A bit more complicated but nothing too fancy. You've got some room for error on this, every boost isn't mandatory to complete the race faster than the target time

Advanced race : Below 9"96
Harder than Medium race but still with a ton of room for errors, don't worry too much on this. A run with mistakes got me 10 seconds ahead of the time.

Specialist race : Below 1'19"60
This one is trickier as it barely leave any room for mistakes, a flawless run should get you somewhere around 3 or 4 secondes ahead (at least that's the best I could do) so simply do your best, practice, and don't forget to use every boosting pad possible. Missing one is killing your run. There's no shortcuts or anything, so you cannot go for anything than the standard route. Take time to learn the track, and don't turn too fast with your stick or your boat will stop. Try to anticipate every big turn in order to cut them short.

Good Luck & Happy Racing !

The desert boat races are introduced somewhat early in the story, and you'll quickly find the controls for this are completely broken. Using the left thumbstick as you'd assume, you'll quickly find your craft listing and falling over. However, if you switch to using the D-Pad for sterring instead, you'll be able to manage it. Each race is fairly straightforward, just be sure to collect the powerups and use the boost ability either on a straight section, or just after a large turn to get yourself back up to speed quickly. For the final race, you really need to hit every single boost pad and use your manual boosts at the proper time to win the race. There are only four races to complete, and the video below has the route you should take for all of them.

Tip 1: controls are bugged for left stick if you tilt it too far to the left or right causing your controls to reverse and instantly spin the f-out.

Tip 2: you must utilize both left stick and d-pad to turn for maximum effectiveness. Keep left stick tilted in the upper diagonal area and use your right finger to press the d-pad at the same time to turn without wiping the f-out

Tip 4: utilize boosts to the max. Use between gaps from boost pads and only save for an imminent tight turn to regain lost speed.

Tip 5: If none of this helped you then you gotta "GET GUD"
