How to unlock the Valorous achievement in Eternal Card Game - Definitive Guide
The achievement can be earned in single player - Gauntlet. The achievement pops immediately when lethal damage is applied and the match ends.
Those familiar with the game will understand that you can create stalemate against the AI. There are multiple ways to do this, but ultimately you will want enough units with a strength/health that can prevent damage without dying. This will keep the AI from attacking and you can take as many turns as you need. Just control the board by removing its units.
The "Valor" ability is a battle skill available on multiple units. Any attacker that is blocked will get +1/+1 for each blocker - but the nature of blocking is all damage is prevented from passing through and therefore the AI will only sacrifice one unit.
The counter to that is the battle skill "Overwhelm" - which allows excess damage to go through.
So your deck will need to include any number of units with Valor and something that gives a unit Overwhelm - weapon attachment or spell. (There may eventually be a unit with both battle skills, but as of this guide - none exist)
I used these two cards, but there are so many options to choose from:
The key is that you must get the AI to low enough health that when you attack with your Valor unit with Overwhelm - the damage will be fully blocked by the opponent's two unit (or more units) without dying, but still ensuring that your unit will do enough damage to kill both blockers. (It is way more complicated to write - than actually do) - I recommend only attacking with the valor unit alone because it makes the math easier.
Example - Opponent has 5 health left with two creatures 2/3 & 2/2 - your attack will need to be 9 - which means a 7 strength with Valor & Overwhelm (because it will get +2 attack from Valor). In this scenario, you have created a situation where the opponent must block with two units to stay alive.
Here's why - 7 unblocked damage would kill them. If they only blocked with the 2/3 unit - you'd bump up to 8 attack (valor bonus) - with overwhelm - 5 damage would pass through (which would kill them) - by adding that second unit - the strength 9 (valor bonus) is reduce by 5 (the combined health of the blockers) leaving the opponent with 1 HP.
The AI is programmed to stay alive if at all possible - so use that knowledge to your advantage.
