How to unlock the World Champion - Expert achievement in F1 2010 - Definitive Guide
Ok guys, get ready for the ratio to drop on this one. I will show you how to get the expert achievement by winning ONE race on EASY, then skipping the rest of the season. It should take around 2 hours from start to finish.
*** The one catch with this is you either need a friend with a copy on hand or 2 copies, consoles & gold accounts yourself to send the invites (I did it with 2 consoles) ***
After searching for additional info on the expert 'assist' exploit i came across a different method on the ps3 trophy forum called the 'expired invite' method (credit to matlock49g over there).
Here is a brief description of matlock49g's expired invite method, skip to the numbered points below for my improved method.
+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-
Basically it is called the 'expired invite glitch/exploit' where once you finish the race click 'A' twice and DON'T go past the constructors championship page, this locks in your points eg 25 for the win, press the PS button and select one of the expired multiplayer invites. It will then try to connect but dump you back in the paddock as there is no match to join. You can then go do the exact same race again that you just raced but this time crash out/get disqualified. If you then press 'A' once and you will see that your points along with the points of the AI have added again from the previous result even though you crashed out. Go to the constructors championship screen and hit the PS button, select an expired invite etc etc. Then simply rinse and repeat by starting the race again and crash out as many times as you want/need to guarantee the World Drivers Championship. Then continue with the career crashing out until the end and the season.
The problem is that you have to find race where you can qualify and win agains the legendary AI with no flashbacks etc. So even using the exploit where you turn on the assists during the race it can still be somewhat difficult and you can make the mistake of not turning the assists back off.
+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-
I have modified the method & came up with an even EASIER way than this & the beauty of it is you can even do it in the starting cars (HRT/Lotus/Virgin) in your first season because you will be winning ONE race on the EASY setting.
1) Turn OFF autosave
2) Start career
3) Select expert difficulty
I still recommend crashing until you get to your best track eg Montreal, so,
4) Skip to race day & crash out until your preferred race
You have the option to try qualify but if in the starting cars you won't be able to on expert. (I was in a ferrari so I qualified on pole)
NOW IS THE INTERESTING PART
5) Go back to the paddock and SAVE, keeping autosave off
6) Select EASY difficulty
7) Go to the race and win while taking out the main rivals if you can
***Edit: There is a possible issue that if you turn off the braking assist (or anything else) resulting in the difficulty switching to custom it will invalidate the achievement, so to be safe make sure you enter the assist menu BEFORE crossing the finish line and switch back to easy. Credit to Morbsta & AHs Chaozz in the comments for the info.***
NOW BE CAREFUL
8) After the race click 'A' TWICE & stop at the constructors screen
9) Either have a friend send you an invite to a quick match or use the second copy/console/account
10) Press the guide button and accept the invite
11) As soon as you accept, have your friend leave the lobby mening there is no lobby to join. This will then put you back in the paddock with a message saying 'connection lost'
12) Go back to your career race and select EXPERT
13) This will put you back to the previous race on RACE DAY
14) Crash straight away
15) Press 'A' twice to the constructors page and accept a new invite
16) Again have your friend leave straight away putting you back in the paddock
17) Rinse and repeat until you have enough points to guarantee the championship. REMEMBER THE ACHIEVEMENT DOESN'T POP UNTIL AFTER THE VERY LAST RACE
And there you go, the proud owner of the Expert World Championship achievement
The way this works is it is registering every race on expert not counting the one on easy because we went back and did the race again on expert, I got the achievement today using this method so it 100% works.
If you have any questions/problems post a comment and I will clarify as best I can.
Would start career on Expert and skip to race day for race 1 and crash out.
race two (Australia) would skip straight to the race, and once in the garage would quit to paddock (main game screen) and save.
Would then go back into career and change the setting to Easy and win the race. I switched brake assist off and on again before race end.
While on constructor points listing would send invite from 2nd account on 2nd xbox and join lobby, would quit 2nd account out and 1st account would be booted back to main screen saying no connection.
Once I had approx 200+ point lead would then just carry on through season skipping to race and crashing out or getting DQd. No achievement popped after the last race, but had the engineer saying I had wrapped up the championship a few times.
I must be doing something wrong here.... Does it matter if I crash out or get disqualified?
Got me stumped and no idea why it isn't unlocking.
So fyi
Hey,
First of all thanks for your fantastic guide.
I am talking about the Expired Invite Method.
For me it worked the 2nd time I used it, but I have to make two very important notes:
1. I had to do it without saving in step 5
2. I had to do the race on the EXPERT difficulty instead of the EASY difficulty.
During the race I took EVERY single drive off, but the last nine drivers I took off finished on place 2 to 10 and were awarded points despite their DNF status. So you have to be very careful to take the main rivals out first.
I did start the Qualifiying and the Race and then I changed the DRIVING ASSISTS, just before getting back to the garage and finishing the race i changed the DRIVING ASSISTS back so it says difficulty EXPERT.
Maybe you have to include these notes into your guide for players who would like to use your guide in the future.
Thanks a lot,

"I can confirm this does work, I have been trying this since the weekend and unlocked the expert achievement this morning.
The way I was doing it was as follows:
Start the race weekend with the difficulty set to Expert (obviously)!
Now once I was in a session (Practice, Qualifying & Race) I would go to the track and once I was in control of the car I would pause the game and turn on the assists I wanted. Then before returning to the pits or finishing the race I would turn all the assists off again so it said Expert again at the top. Also if I needed to restart the session/race I would turn the assists off before doing so and then on again after restarting.
I don't know if you need to turn the assists off when restarting but I didn't want to risk it.
This way when you return to the paddock after the race it still says Expert on the difficulty when starting the next race.
Doing this I won the Championship after Singapore, crashed out of the rest of the races and the achievement unlocked on the Championship Standings screen after the last race.
Hope this helps."
I could crash out my last 5 races, because I had enough points and my lead was big enough. I got the achievement after the last race, when you finish the championship.
I also many times crashed out myself and the number 2 and 3 in the championship, try doing that many times and the gap between you and the number 2 and 3 in the championship will grow.
Try to win as many races in the start, I couldn't win Catalunya for example. Many times I had pole position and didn't win, but at least 2nd or 3rd place. So getting a good qualification is a must.
I just was warning players that if you go for a "kamikaze" or "crashing/destroying" your car, that the game ends. And if the game ends and you continue, you can start all over again.
Always be sure that whatever you do, change the settings back to expert.
It is racing on expert with just a little help. Because AI is still racing on expert and you cannot change it.
Some tips
Do not attempt this ur first season,or probably second it third for that matter,u will get crucified and disheartened,it is an actually easy enuff cheev under right conditions
Practise practise practise practise,u have to know every track down to a tee, knowing all the sweet spots and the hell spots is essential,I attempted this cheev on 5th season n still got caught out every now n then on some tracks,
Turn off autosave, imperative as mentioned before, U CAN save car set ups even when u might have some aids on,but like others have said, its essential you turn all aids off before crossing the finish line of a race so expert pops back up
Typically,I started a weekend on expert, obviously, did practise, went straight to qualy, aids off, back out to paddock n then save,it helps with those really frustrating races
I personally leave TC and ABS on,but honestly, the AI is so tough and each race is so unforgiving that leaving aids on is no big deal
Ideally, start the season as number one driver, you need to get upgrades ASAP,The car kinda sucks at start of season, but once upgrades come it'll become much easier, well, kinda!
Write off Spanish gp and Monaco, there seems to b glitches best q I could manage was 12th and 19th respectively,
Stick at it at the start even if ur not finishing very high, from memory I think my start was 3rd Bahrain,1st oz,6th KL,5th China, n bad results Monaco n spain, once u get to turkey it gets lot easier,ur car will have developed a lot, much quicker, poles will come and ull do alright
Around monza I think the pressure came off,for me neway,u can start selectively taking out opponents all throughout season, but here at the business end u really c the dividends,a quick.nudge or soon of certain cars into barriers, done carefully of course, and ur lead will grow n grow,
By taking out specific drivers throughout season I was actually able to just crash out from Singapore onwards n still win championship, but know your math! And it should go without saying,SIGN A CONTRACT BEFORE STARTING TO DELIBERATLY CRASH OUT, u will get sacked otherwise!
All in all this is a bloody hard achievement but very do'able,it requires time to.learn n patience, plenty of it, incur a penalty,ur better off restarting race TBH, same with bad spins cause its neigh impossible to catch cars once they have empty track ahead
Don't try to use set ups found on the net, everybodys style is different,ur just going to have to learn what yours is!
It's some feeling when u do get this cheev, cause even though wit aids on its cheating, its still one of the hardest cheevs I've ever done! Stick at it,
Any q's feel free to ask,I just tried to give my opinions back to community, any errors are mine!good luck
This is a clean-up of his solution, using my own experience.
I was myself confused when I read his solution and the comments.
- The "expired invite" exploit works a treat, is SUPER easy,
but requires 2 boxes and 2 gold accounts.
- Autosave ON or OFF:
It works with Autosave off, but it means you do the whole season in one sitting.
- The EASY race is very important:
It will set all the points you will make in the season,
if you chose to only actually race the one track you prefer.
It is better if you try and push the drivers of the top teams in walls,
to make them loose time and score less points during that one race.
It would save you time, BUT this is not NECESSARY.
So the process is:
1 - Set Autosave OFF
2 - Start season on EXPERT
3 - Race or crash the tracks until you get to your chosen track
- if you race, make sure the settings are on EXPERT when you pass the finish line
- if you crash, make sure the setting are on EXPERT when you do
((make sure to change the assists settings until the first line says "EXPERT"))
ON YOUR CHOSEN TRACK
4 - Start the weekend on EASY
5 - Qualify or not (no bearing)
6 - Race, win, and if possible take out the main rivals
(taking out rivals would only help you get to the end quicker)
NOTE:
I personally forgot to reset the braking assist prior to finishing the EASY race,
it did NOT stop me from getting the achievement at my first try.
(only observation from my own experience run)
LOOP LOOP (don't worry, just read on)
7 - At the end, do not get finger jittery, and stop AT the CONSTRUCTORS screen
8 - use the "Expired Invite" glitch
- receive an invite (from other box other account)
- accept the invite and have the second account quit the lobby straight after
(pretty much at the same time)
(I was pressing the accept on my main,
then pressing yes to quit on the other box,
so a portion of a second gap was working for me.)
- Accept the comment of "Connection Failure", Exit the Multiplayer mode.
9 - Back to Career
10 - Start same weekend again, on EXPERT
(you will have to change the setting the first time,
then it should be set by default for the next ones)
This will take you straight to RACE day now.
11 - Crash or get Disqualified
(I used both with no problem)
12 - If you crash, accept the crash with "Y", then Retire.
13 - NO finger jitters !!
THIS IS WHERE YOU USE THE LOOP. (back to number 7)
YOU DO THE LOOP OVER AND OVER AGAIN UNTIL YOU HAVE ENOUGH POINTS.
Once you have enough points:
(25 * number of tracks left) +1 more than the second in the leader-board at least.
14 - Keep Racing or Crashing for the rest of the season.
15 - The achievement will POP once you get out of the last race weekend.
16 - SAVE
i took off the auto-save feature so that i would have more control on when/if i wanted a save to take place.
my method was as follows; get into the track session using expert difficulty, then if R&D was required in Practice session do this on the first timed lap (usually very easy to beat the target time). but instead of turning the assists back off before going back to the pits/garage i would leave them on throughout the whole practice (if done), qualifying and race, but just before finishing the race i turned all the assists back off so that expert was shown at top of menu. then when back in the main menu/paddock before going to the next track i would save the game. i was even able to quit to paddock from the race (without first putting all assists off) then go back to race day and change my engineer setup once back in the garage and still get the achievement.
weather can be crucial at some races; if i was finding it difficult to qualify in a useful position, then i would reload my save, get to the track, check the weather forecast and if there was heavy rain forecast for qualifying i would continue and usually get a pole, otherwise if no rain was due i would quit and re-load the save until i did get a qualifying day with rain.
Well, here it is, the hardest achievement in the game. Let me break down for you what the expert difficulty entails.
- All assists off--This includes traction control, automatic gears, ABS, racing line, and brake assist (which is useless, so no big deal losing that).
- Simulation options set to full--This includes realistic rules and flags, tyre simulation, fuel simulation and full damage.
- The AI is set to legendary difficulty.
The biggest hurdle for most will be the lack of traction control and the use of manual gears. Without traction control, spinning becomes a common occurrence. Even the slightest mistake and you will be punished. My advice, never brake whilst turning. NEVER. It's just asking for trouble. Go wide, brake, then turn. Do not push full throttle when coming out of a corner. Ease back up to speed, or you will spin. Be very wary of the kerbs and do not go off road.
Learn the tracks in and out. You need to know the best lines. Also, opt for consistency. No point going flat out if you're going to spin and lose more positions than you gained. Your car setup is important too. This site has great setups for each track. For more hints, see here.
The achievement must be done in Career, so you are going to need to wait until you get contract offers from better teams, to have any chance of winning the Championship on expert. At the end of the day, nothing beats practice.
Alternative Method (Easier)
Start the season (first race, Bahrain) on expert. When you get on the track, enter the pause menu and change the assists to whatever is easiest for you. You're going to trick the game into thinking that you are playing on expert. Before ending the session, whether it be practice, qualifying, or the race, enter the pause menu again and set the assists back to what they originally were (outlined above). The game autosaves at the start and end of the session, so you can trick it in the middle. Continue to do this for the entire season, win, and the achievement will come. A few things to note:
- Do not save a setup whilst you have any assists on. This will cause the game to autosave, thus ruining the exploit.
- You can restart a race with assists set to on, same for qualifying.
- You can enter the garage with assists set to on.
As long as the game doesn't autosave when you have assists on, the exploit will work.
This will be difficult. You will have to wait until later in your career when you are at a top team before attempting this. You can't get this in Grand Prix mode. Also, unlike the other WDC trophies, this one pops at the end of the season even if you win it earlier than that.
Tips for playing on Expert:
- Remember you can restart any session to get more practice or take another attempt at qualifying or the race. You can also turn off auto save in the My F1 menu and only save after a race weekend you are satisfied with. Just make sure you remember to save when you have a good race.
- Practice, a lot. Nothing beats practice. Use the practice sessions and Time Trial mode to gain a good knowledge of the tracks. Though don't expect time trial times to be converted into career times. Your car in career is upgraded as the season progresses so won't be as good initially as the time trial car. Also time trial cars are always low fuel and unaffected by tyre ware
- Custom set-ups can help a lot. Shaving seconds off your lap times.
- Sometimes there are races that you just can't do well at. For me I suck at Catalunya, so if you're on a race like this and every time you try you are losing points you can opt to just take out your main rival Schumacher style. You won't score any points but at least your main rival wont either. If you can you could even take out to 2 closest drivers.
Alternate Method:
There is a way to make expert a lot easier on yourself. Basically when out on track you are able to pause, switch on assists and continue racing. Then before ending, switch the assists back off and it still counts for expert. The step by step guide is what I did and got the trophy with. I can't be sure if all the steps are necessary but I wanted to be safe and make sure it worked. So some of these may not be needed but if you do follow this exactly you will get the trophy. If you do deviate slightly It may still work but I can't guarantee it.
Step to follow:
- When you start a new season that you want to make your expert season, select expert difficulty in the pop-up menu when you are about to start a session. Make sure you do this for the first session of the season (Practice In Bahrain). You shouldn't change this throughout the season and it should always say expert when starting a session.
- For Practice and Qualifying turn the assists on once you are out on track. I also switched them off before returning to the garage and restarting. If you are out on track right at the end of the session make sure you pause and turn them off before you cross the line and the session ends.
- For Racing I turned the assists on when I was sitting on the grid waiting for the lights, I turned them back off if I was restarting the race and I paused before crossing the finish line and turned them off at the end of the race.
- This isn't necessary but I would recommend it. Back up your save game regularly. You can back up to USB at any time and reload to your console if things go badly wrong. If you get a string of bad results of forget to turn off the assists before it auto-saves. I'd say do it after every race result you are happy with. Alternatively you could turn auto save off in the MyF1 menu and save manually. I'd be in favour of creating backups though since It's very easy to forget to save before quitting.
This exploit still works on version 1.01 of the game.

We participate in test sessions for the subsequent modernization of the machine.
We participate in all Qualifications and try to qualify in the first 6-8 places.
Next, we do everything point by point.
1. How you left the pits (qualifying, practice or race). Click start and enable the necessary assistants.
Include the bare minimum, because... The more assistants, the slower your car.
2. We go through the race/qualification or practice.
3. And before the end of the race/qualifying or practice, before crossing the finish line or heading back to the pits, turn off all the assistants so that the difficulty is again set to “Expert” in the menu.
4. If you forgot to do this, then it is better not to risk receiving the achievement and start the race again.
And 2 more tricks.
A. Vary the recommended pit stop circle, causing your teammate to make 2 pit stops frequently in a grand prix.
b. Perform all overtaking on the 1st lap, their tires are not warmed up and the easiest way to overtake them is during the 1st lap.
After the 1st lap, it will be possible to overtake them only in the last 2 laps, when their tires are worn out.
