How to unlock the Grand Slam achievement in F1 2015 - Definitive Guide

I had a bit of trouble unlocking this so I thought I would post my experience here.

EDIT: As observed by NellumNai in the comments, you cant let anyone even take the lead in the race AT ALL. So when attempting this do your best to stop those annoying Mercedes drivers from pulling past you at the start of the race. If they get in front, just do a quick restart.

Basically i'm playing my first playthrough on easy and short. So damage is off, 15min practice, one-shot qualifying and 25% race. Very easy to get pole this way. Default 1 stop race strategy always starts you on Options tyres, with an early pit about 35% into the race then Primes for the remainder.

What I found from this setup is that I would pit earlier than some of the AI thanks to my aggressive driving style due to neglect of the tyres, late breaking etc. So I would lose the lead when I pitted only to regain it when the remainder of the AI pitted.

So there are two ways to combat this:

Either drive a little less casual/aggressive, conserving your tyres, work your ass off to get a big enough lead that you pit later than everyone else and stay in first when you come back out on the track.

OR

Change your race strategy. Chuck the Primes on first, so that you pit later(60% into the race generally), changing to options so you have the extra grip and lighter car due to less fuel load later in the race. This will also help you have a better lap time than you would on the default race strategy. Guaranteeing the fastest lap.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As a side note. There seems to be a problem with the game when you change the race strategy. The first time I did this the pit team still tried to get me to pit early as if I was wearing options(so had to ignore them) and when I went into the pit finally they put a 2nd set of Prime boots on me. I had to restart that race because I forgot it was a rule you had to change boot compound or you get disqualified. So when you first start the race on Primes hit the D-pad right to go into tyres, then hit UP to tell the pit to put Options on next time you pit.

Hope this helps.

Baron.

I've done this every race for the first 3 races but still no sign of the achievement. Do you have to stay 1st for the entire race or just when you're going through the timing points each lap? Because the only time I'm not in 1st place is the start of the race when Lewis Hamilton fires up the side of me. The Mercs are stupidly quick off the line.

Now that you mention it I think that could be why it took until Austria to unlock because you are correct, Hamilton seems to fire up the inside of you almost every race. Let me know if it works the first time you manage to stop him and i'll add it in.

It seems that this achievement can be obtained now with the option of doing only 5 or 3 laps thus avoiding the pit stop. I got mine this way.

All of the above are great, but one thing that i found yesterday, that you cannot be overtaken, not even for a single second, which can be little tricky, when you are not driving Mercedes, because they are insanely fast at start and thanks to stupid AI, they will ram to you, when you are trying to block them.
So my advice is, either wait for Monaco GP, which have short straight at the start of race, or try little blocking maneuvers and then restart if you are not successful. Then drive fast to build up solid lead, so when you will pit, you won't loose your first place

My solution is detailed below and represents my way of achieving it.

I chose Lewis Hamilton as my driver for the season and on my first race around Melbourne in practise it was sunny and not a cloud in sight. After completion of practise moving onto qualy it was pouring rain I managed to get pole position by being roughly 5 seconds quicker. Lucky enough for me it was raining in race day and thankfully it rained throughout which means I didn't have to change for another set. Hence not requiring a pit stop.

I stayed in front and setting the fastest lap achievement popped on the second screen after the race.

Hopefully you guys can manage to get the achievement in a similar way there are a few tracks early on in a season that like the rain. China was the next one and Montreal and silverstone were others where I have encountered rain throughout the race.

This trophy appears difficult on first view, but is actually a relatively simple task. Firstly, go to Championship Season from the main menu, and select the Mercedes of either Hamilton or Rosberg. When given the options, set the weekend length to short weekend and then the AI difficulty to easy when prompted. You’ll be looking at gaining pole first off in Australia (any track will unlock this trophy but Australia is first on the calendar) – a short weekend defaults qualifying to one shot so you only have one lap to set a competitive lap. It’s less about speed (as you should be at least 5 seconds a lap quicker than the AI) but more about precision, as an invalidated lap will not count. Once you have pole, then you need to lead from the front. As a relative guide, you need a lead of about 25 seconds to pit, and keep the lead. For this trophy to unlock, you will have to lead the whole race without being overtaken, and then set the fastest lap as well. Once you have won the race, the trophy will pop when you advance to the drivers’ standings.

Below is a tip from hermskuk1 on how to get this trophy without having to build up a 25 second lead:

Just a quick tip on this to make it easier. No need to push hard to get a 25 second lead on the pit stop. You just need to be in position 1. Just make sure you are using the short race (25% race distance). You then wait for your pit window to open, but just stay out for an extra lap, wait for the first half of pits to happen. You then can pit on the next lap with the rest of the cars who haven't pitted. You will then exit the pit still in first place.
