How to unlock the Open Saysamemiddlefinger achievement in Fable Anniversary - Definitive Guide

You can either quest across Albion to fulfil the needs of the doors, or just give any door the middle finger expression.

The Middle Finger Expression is acquired by being Moderately Evil - or for Good characters by completing the main story as you unlock ALL opposite alignment expressions at that point.

But if you prefer to quest, and get rewards, here's a compiled list and solutions to guide you, with the door quotes and solutions hidden in spoiler marks. I've completely hidden the Main Quest Door rewards just in case you don't want to know. To help you keep track, there is a GoogleDoc check list link in the comments below.

This achievement is almost "missable" if you play the game in a certain way drabik said:
Just a note, I believe this achievement is (nearly) missable. If you choose to expose Lady Grey's deeds instead of marrying her, the face on the Headsman's Hill door will disappear (or at least face inwards). If you then open all OTHER doors, you are left with a problem:
a) You can't open the last door.
b) You can't use the Middle Finger expression on the one remaining door, which now has no face
However, there is a glitch to get to this demon door, which is now facing inwards..."... go to Headman's Hill and stand next to the fence by the treasure chest and fast travel away. Then use the fast travel recall option and it will put you down there".
  • Achievement Doors

These are the doors that are required for the achievement

  • The Library Arcanum - Heroes' Guild

Your path is dark. Only a light will reveal it. And you are not bright enough.

  • The Arboretum - Greatwood Gorge

This is the deal. You perform an act of great evil in my sight, and I'll pop open.

  • Darkwood Sanctum - Darkwood Marshes

Beware, traveller - I block the way to all but the most combat-hardened. If you request, my Guardians will test your mettle in combat. Meet their challenge, and the reward I hide is yours

  • The Old Kingdom Spring - Barrow Fields

Oh no, not again. Another bony adventurer seeking to plunder my riches. I'm not interested in your meagre frame. Get some meat on you! I want beefy! Blubbery! Plump! Porcine! Stop being a slave to public perception, and treat yourself. Pies, meat, beer, anything; but lots of it! Eat yourself large, and you'll be welcome here!

  • The Secret Haven - Rose Cottage

I never open on a first date. My heart has been broken too many times before. I could only let someone who really loved me through.

  • The Butterfly House - Greatwood Caves

I need to see your Combat Multiplier get higher before I swing ajar.

  • Gibbet Woods - Headsman's Hill

Only by defeating another Hero in combat will I open for you. Got that? I mean, how simple are you?

  • The Hidden Copse - Knothole Glade

If you can hurt my face with an arrow, I'll crack wide open for you.

  • The Bitter Shrine - Abandoned Road

"What? Oh. You're not one of them, are you? My eyesight's not what it used to be. One was a gallant knight. His plate armour was so shiny. Probably what did my eyes in. Then there was an evil mage, wore the darkest magical robes you ever saw. The last was a rogue - a bandit, bit like the chaps here."

  • The Lost Garden - Grey House

Single men not allowed. You need a ball and chain. A posh one with a title.

  • The Desolate Abbey - Darkwood Bordello

It's a hard life being a stone door. You know when I last had a physical relationship? No? Try "never." So, I've decided to live vicariously. Now, I only open to "men of the world", and I'm afraid you haven't even left the house yet. Come back when you're a real stud.

  • Bleached Bone Island - The Necropolis

I never wanted to be a Demon Door. All this waiting around. All the riddles. It's no life. Oh, if only I'd been born a Silver Key chest. I just love those little Silver keys. So shiny...So silver...I'd do anything for some of my own. Give me yours, please? I'll let you through and everything.

  • Main Quest Doors

There are a total of 15 doors in Fable, and the Main Quest doors don't count towards the achievement total, as you MUST do them for the story. I'll leave them in the guide anyway, just in case you want them:

  • Prophets' Chamber - Lookout Point

You bear the mask of Jack of Blades. The Prophets had foreseen the coming of such a legend among Heroes. The rise of the summoners in the Northern Wastes marks the arrival of a new threat to all things living. We have long dreaded this portent. Behind my walls lies the Fire Heart. There you will speak to the Prophets who watch over it. You may enter now. But beware the beating of the Heart. It has burned many before you.

  • Old Graveyard Path - Lychfield Graveyard

Leave me alone, you organic pustule. I only open for Nostro, the ancient guardian of the door. Not for you. And not for that rancid gravekeeper.

  • Witchwood Cavern- Witchwood Stones

I only open to those who know my name. If you know it, find and hit the magic stones to spell it out. Only one person knows my name, but I doubt you'll find him. Even at the Temple of Avo.

It should be noted not all 15 count. If you want to open all 12 you'll need to marry Lady Grey. At least in my game they didn't all count.

I think the ones that are Main Quest related do not count towards the achievement, as you open them as a matter of course.

Just opened the Lychfield Graveyard one last night and it didn't count, so I can verify that.

Quickest way to Necropolis is to fast travel to The Lost Bay then head north.

Witchwood Stones, Lychfield Graveyard, and Lookout Point didn't count towards the achievement if I remember correctly.

You get most of the pieces from a shop - I think knothole glade - but the Chest Piece is only available from a Wandering Merchant. I always tend to find him at the Greatwood Cullis Gate, clear the area of enemies, check through each merchant to see if one is an armourer and if not, simply repeat until he appears.

I double checked - You can buy the boots and leggings in knothole glade and the Gloves and Chest Piece from the wandering merchant.

BUT you can buy the entire set from the smithy Snowspire Village for a base price of 18175g, but you're guile and alignment modifiers will change this price either higher or lower.

I'll add this to the guide.

Pro tip: If you've beat the game and chose to wore Jack's mask, you wont be able to open the door on Abandoned Road, because you cant put on the bandit mask.

For The Butterfly House - Greatwood Caves, there is often an earth troll in this area. Retreat to the edges of the site so that the troll goes back in to the ground, and start charging up your long-ranged Y attack. After a couple of minutes or so, go back towards the troll, and he should re-appear. Before he is ready to attack, unleash the arrow for a 20+ multiplier in one shot. Now talk to the door.

I always found that attacking the troll only ever gave me a 12x Combat Multiplier but that was through normal combat, never tried it that way before. I've added it as a tip mate cheers.

I've also added your warning about Lady Grey's problem to the guide, though the voice in the back of my head whispers to me that it was the Grey House Demon Door that vanished if you exposed her.

Yeah, given enough time the shop owners will respawn. If they do die you can always buy the shop before it happens.

When you say that all expressions unlock at the end of the game does that refer to the DLC tacked on the end? I beat Jack, threw the sword away as I sort of like my Hero having a Halo but can't use any of the rude expressions.

It has to be TLC stuff. Once you beat the "super secret final boss" all of the opposite alignment expression unlock.

For the silver keys one, couldn't you just save your game, give him the keys, achievement, and reload the game? Keeping all your keys?

By LucrativeGaming on 26 Mar 2014 12:07
Well I don't own the game any more, feel free to test if it you like and report back.

You might be able to copy the save file to cloud storage, give the keys for the achievement and then download the cloud file, but the legendary item "The Bereaver" is one of the strongest in the game.

As far as I know, if you sell the robes, it is gone for good.

In order to unlock the other alignment Expressions you have to beat the Very Last Boss:

to acquire them without the alignment.

I'm really screwed then, I guess. I already beat the main campaign and the 'DLC' potion of it too but I didn't get the extra expressions...Guess its off to make a seven just for my last few cheevos. Thanks for trying to help :D I appreciate it.

By DJH4311 on 21 Aug 2014 15:00
No, DJH4311, you MIGHT want to add in your solution that SOMETIMES in the "White Balverine" quest, the person that is getting eaten by the balverine in front of Knothole Glade is in fact the blackmith, so you WON'T be able to get the rest of the Bright Plate Outfit (until later in the story)....a good idea is to advise people to make a HARD SAVE before you take that "quest card" just in case you are one of the unlucky ones it happens to....... it happened to me "sad face".....but I will double check to see if he shows back up after I finish the arena.....

I found the best way for me to open the combat Multiplier door in Greatwood Caves was to go there first so you can recall back outside the door, then travel to Necropolis with a decent longbow and a High Multi Shot level. Shooting them slow moving ice creatures with Multishot got my multiplier up to 44 in 1 minute, then Recall Fast Travel back to Greatwood Caves. By the time you get back it will still be in the 20+. Simple

Just a note, I believe this achievement is (nearly) missable. If you choose to expose Lady Grey's deeds instead of marrying her, the face on the Headsman's Hill door will disappear (or at least face inwards). If you then open all OTHER doors, you are left with a problem:
a) You can't open the last door.
b) You can't use the Middle Finger expression on the one remaining door, which now has no face.

However, there is a glitch to get to this demon door, which is now facing inwards. Taken from a comment by TedyBearOfDeath on this solution...
"... go to Headman's Hill and stand next to the fence by the treasure chest and fast travel away. Then use the fast travel recall option and it will put you down there". There is a silver key in the water in this area too.

If this is the last door you have for the achievement, use the above 'glitch' and then use the Middle Finger expression on the remaining door.

I need to get into the Abandoned road Demon door for the weapon inside. I have all the outfit requirements EXCEPT for the bright plate leggings. I know they're sold in Knothold Glade but the merchant just isn't there. I believe he was killed during the Balverine attack. It says above that the Blacksmith in Snowspire sells the complete set. However when ever I got to him, he isn't selling any armour at all. Am I screwed?

By Kongo Dragon on 19 Feb 2014 17:55
For me, my save seems to be glitched...I can't open up the Abandoned Road door due to accidentally selling the Mage Robes. I went back to the stores I most likely sold it to and it wasn't there. So, I figured I may as well get the middle finger expression instead. Not even a few minutes ago, I got an in game notification saying I got an achievement for being 100% evil (But I had already gotten it for being 100% good). I look through my expressions, and I only have the Air Guitar expression as an evil expression.
What's going on? I believe I have 9/12 doors opened already but I was mainly going to open all of them for the legendary weapons to go towards the other cheevo as well.

For the Door which you need a Multiplier of 14 in Greatwood Caves. In front of the door (in the area) spawns a Troll. Take your Crossbow and hide behind a Stone so he can't hit you. Hold the Bow (Y) for 3 Minutes and then hit him with the crowwbow. You will get a Multiplicator of 25 and then run to the door to get in.

Anyone who has problems with the door where you need to get a combat booster, just simply take a thicker mercenary and learn healing. I think you already guessed what you need to do next to the door. You need to get a 14+ multiplier.

Heroes' Guild. “Your path is dark. Only light will dispel the darkness. And you’re not bright enough.” You might think that the door wants the hero to become famous for his kindness. In fact, everything is much simpler: after completing training in the guild, the hero will receive a lamp. Use it on the door. In the cave you will find books, an elixir of life and a tattoo.
Notes from a werewolf: “And then for some reason I flew. Probably the weather was good for flying.”

Greatwood Gorge. “Commit an act of great atrocity before me, and I will reveal myself.” The door will let the hero in if he is evil on his own or if he leads several NPCs to the door and kills them. There is, however, an easier way - you have to brazenly eat a dozen portions of chicken in front of the door. Leeroy's reward will be a good, sharp axe.

Greatwood Caves. The task is difficult - you need to be in front of a door with a combo multiplier of fourteen or higher. Use the Hobby Cave and the Troll to score a thirty-fold multiplier. Without an energy shield, this will be difficult to do. You can use the services of a troll next to the cave. The reward for your efforts is a cleaver with a built-in zipper.

Darkwood Marshes. "Let my guards test your strength." Defeat several groups of hobbs (five times four hobbs) and the door will let you through. This is very easy to do, and the hero’s reward will be a dark set of clothes.

Barrow Fields. The door only respects dense heroes. To get through it, you need to become “fat” - eat a lot of pies, fish or meat. In the cave the hero will find an elixir of will.

Witchwood Stones. “Only those who know my name will be able to pass. And only one person in the Avo temple knows him.” The door is connected to the story quest. The demon's name is HITS - the name must be “typed” on four columns. The hero will receive a ruby, a sapphire, meat, a vial of resurrection, books, a tattoo and chain mail pants.

Knothole Glade. A demon with a bias towards masochism. It will open only to those who hit the stone face well with an arrow. What you have on hand should be enough - the main thing is to tighten the bowstring well. Inside the cave is the elixir of life.

Gray House. The demon will not open the door until you marry Lady Gray. If you choose another option for completing the quest, the door will not open at all. However, who needs this axe, even if it’s silver and sharp...

Rose Cottage. The demon is in a romantic mood and asks the hero for a gift as a sign of serious intentions. There are only crazy people around... Give the demon a rose or a box of chocolates. In the cave there is a set of very elegant light armor that will help you break more than one female NPC heart in Albion.

Abandoned Road. A demon who has fallen into insanity wants to be visited by old acquaintances - a brave knight with sparkling armor, an evil magician in a dark robe and a robber. In order for the door to open, you need to talk to the demon first in the Bright Plate suit, then in the Dark Will User's Outfit and finally in the Bandit Outfit (you will receive it during the quest). Inside is a good mace for wizards. Look for costumes from merchants.

Lychfield Graveyard. Another plot door. To enter it, you need to find four things belonging to the dead Knight of Nostro. There is no reward.

Headsman's Hill. You will discover this door only during Lady Gray's quest - and only during the battle with the black Grom. It will open and release you into the big world when you defeat Thunder. There will be no reward.

The Darkwood Bordello. They won't let you in until you lie down ten times. Well, what can I recommend... Visit a brothel. Behind the door is a pimp's cap.

Lookout Point. Story door. Only unlocks after you defeat the Jack of Blades for the first time. Inside are four puzzles and the Fiery Heart artifact.

Necropolis. The schizophrenic demon wants to become a chest and will ask the hero for silver keys. All. You shouldn't go to her if you haven't opened all the chests in Albion. The reward for lost keys is a good fire sword.

Or just show the middle finger to any of the doors. Expression - the middle finger only has a negative character. But if you are a “good-natured” person, it’s okay, after going through the entire storyline, all the expressions will be revealed to you.
