How to unlock the Legend of the Wastes achievement in Fallout Shelter - Definitive Guide

This is going to take some time, but can be shortened immensely by changing your system clock. (Settings > System > Time) Once you reach the +14 time zone, quit the game, turn it back to -12 and reload the game. You do NOT need to reload if you're moving time forward. However, when moving time back without quitting, the game's audio will cut out. Anyway, there's no one solution because every quest is a tad different, but here are some tips to make your questing quicker and smoother:

Obviously first you're going to need an overseer's office. Upgrade this when you have the funds. Faster you get 3 questing teams out, faster you get this finished.

The quests you get at the start of the game should be quite easy. Send whoever you like on them. While doing that, pick out 9 dwellers who you'd like to be your A, B, and C teams. Your job with them will be to send them out in the wasteland to level up and get their special stats as high as possible in the training rooms. (My A team are all level 50 with maxed out special stats.) You can again abuse the system clock to speed up their training times. Certain special stats will really help you out on quests. Agility determines how often your character will shoot. If you notice your dweller getting hit 2 or 3 times before firing back it's because their agility is low. Endurance deals with total health. Higher endurance = less stimpaks needing to be used. Charisma may help with speech checks that pop up on certain missions, but I cannot confirm that.

As your vault gets bigger and gains more dwellers, the quests will start getting harder. You'll start receiving multi-part quests which get increasingly difficult. With that difficulty increase, the loot will also get better. Some quests have up to 15 parts. Other quests require certain weapons or outfits. You'll also notice that the time it takes to reach each location increases with each successive part. This is where moving your clock forward really cuts down on time.

Another "trick" to cut down on time is to equip any animals to your questing dwellers that decrease travel time. I have a cat that decreases return time by 4x. Turns a 4 hour return trip into 1 hour. There are also a few pets (including legendary Dogmeat) that give you an objective multiplier. Dogmeat is x3 objective completion, so if you take him on a mission, it will count as 3 completed. (Thanks Simm)

Always make sure your questing teams have the best weapons. One weapon that really cleans house is the mini-nuke launcher. Not only does it do massive damage to a single target, it also does splash damage to all other targets in the room. Great one to have along on any quest. If you have no legendary weapons, the plasma rifles are probably your best bet. You'll start receiving legendary items from quests once you reach the higher level ones.

Once you have 3 teams out at once, and you're controlling time within settings, the achievement goes much faster. I'd recommend building an extra Hospital and Science Center so that you can have 60+ Stimpaks and Radaways on hand at any given time. That way you can send out your quest teams with max items. That being said, there really weren't a whole lot of quests (even the 15th part) where my team was in real danger of dying. The main issue is when you face irradiated enemies in every single room...the radiation damage really adds up fast. Some missions will have stims/radaway in the plenty. Others will have barely any, so it's better to pack as many as you can when you leave the vault.

One last item. Those little map popups that appear when you have dwellers out in the wasteland...complete those. They count as a completed quest and are often times super short. (Red Rocket is 1 room, Abandoned shack 2 rooms, etc.)

If you have any further questions or have any tips you think I should add, please comment below. Good luck and have fun!

If you manage to get dogmeat as a pet from either a lunch box or a pet box, he gives you a 3X objective bonus. If you take him on missions it will count as 3 missions instead of 1 which makes unlocking this achievement WAY faster. The only problem is Dogmeat is extremely rare, I got him after opening around 700 lunch boxes.. seriously.

Thanks Simm. I have an X2 pet and didn't realize it did that! I thought it somehow counted for the in-vault objectives. I did take him on some missions but didn't realize it bumped up my quest count.

It counts for the in-vault objectives too, I think that's what its really meant for but for some reason it doubles up quests as well. Could be an oversight by the devs.

Odd. They were definitely counting for me. Unless for some reason they patched those from counting last week when the update came.

Most importantly, is this 100 quests cumulatively or for a single vault/save?

Odd. Could be a server side glitch?

Each individual quest counted for me. So a 15 part quest counted for 15. I've run out of quests and now only have daily/weekly quests to do.

Can you do this over multiple vaults? I woke up to a disaster zone with everyone dead and beetles everywhere

My achievements are also not progressing at all. Does changing the clock disable achievements somehow because they only stopped progressing when I started boosting the time

I took two of the German shepherds, and the bird that all have x2 objective and it still only counted as double mission…

Heads up for speeding this up. If you have a pet with X2 or X3 objectives completed, you can do this much faster. This works for some other achievements too but I am not sure if it stacks.

My quests are stuck at 85% and never moving up. One thing that confuses me: Does the 7 part quest count as 1 quest when 7/7 is finished or is it 7 quests? I tried most of the methods that were mentioned in the forums like restarting PC, moving time forward to save and then back the current time, loading up the game on X1 (I've been playing on PC) and doing a quest... none has worked so far.

This achievement should take you the most actual play time. You can use the method to move your clock forward to skip the waiting to start and to return. Or if you want to do it all as it's intended prepare to spend a lot of time waiting.

Get you Overseer's Office up to lvl 3 so you can have 3 quests going at once.
Requirements: Space for 2 rooms.
lvl 1 1000 Caps and 18 Dwellers
lvl 2 3500 Caps and 30 Dwellers
lvl 3 15000 Caps and 55 Dwellers

I would also recommend train up all the SPECIAL stats on 3 dwellers or even 9 once you get a bigger vault going. Then trow them out in to the wasteland to level them up. This will take between 2-3 trips off multiple days to reach lvl 50. But this will allow you to plow trough quests like it's nothing. Give them your best weapons, take a few stim packs and rad aways just in case and you should have never trouble finishing a quest or taking a long time.

Then for the quests them self.
If you're are all ready done with:
Fallout ShelterEnemy of the WastesThe Enemy of the Wastes achievement in Fallout Shelter worth 49 pointsKill 500 enemies on Quests

Fallout ShelterBig PharmaThe Big Pharma achievement in Fallout Shelter worth 55 pointsCollect 100 Stimpaks and 100 RadAway on Quests

You can cut down a lot of encounters buy skipping obvious side rooms.

If you have played a couple already you may have noticed that the dwellers tell you if you go in the right direction. Take this with a grain off salt since they are not always right.

I also found that a lot of the time the main objective is on a specific floor in relation to the type off building. I'll try and explain some of them. Keep in mind that sometimes this my not be the case and you end up doing the whole building anyway. But most of the times that I used my guide lines I skipped a lot off rooms.

Vaults

Long Office Buildings

High Office Buildings

For all of these I have notice that the higher quests lvls the objective is always far away. With maybe a few exceptions. But then you normally don't get multiple floors and you just walk in to it earlier then you expected. The lower lvls you sometimes go fast to the top to find the objective on the 3 floor. But that is just my experience.

Save your critical hit for hard enemies and bosses. This way you don't have to deal with reinforcements witch should save you some time and make these encounters a walk in the park. Examples for hard enemies Deathclaws,Radscopions and sometimes Raiders.
Bosses have a red Skull next to there health bar. They can be 3x times as strong so kill them quickly since they can do massive damage and even insta kill your lvl 50 max SPECIAL dwellers if you don't look out.

The final objective is 98/100 in a 2 or 3 sized room. The only two where the final objective was in a 1 sized room. There could be more, maybe but this is the only two I have encountered out of the 100 I have done. And there both related to this series of quests. I have noted them down below.

The search for Jobinson’s Jersey 8/15
Getcha’ Peanuts Here
The search for Jobinson’s Jersey 10/15
There’s No Crying in Baseball

So if you're browsing in a elevator it's worth it to just go in a big room instead off a 1 sized room.

So I hope that this will help somebody and if you have experienced something that I haven't mentioned let me know and I'll add it in.

Happy Hunting

Quests in this game are any instance where you turn your attention away from the interior of the vault to manage another group of dwellers who are out in the field. Whether it be a group you sent out specifically to go to a quest or 1 who happened to find something interesting while exploring. To send a quest out you first have to build the Overseer’s office, which requires 18 dwellers to build. After you build that, just select a quests, build your team and outfit them with some good gear, medicine and pets. The other type of quest will happen randomly when you are inside the vault managing the day to day. You will hear a radio sound and be prompted to press to tell that dweller to enter. Just help your teams survive 100 quests and you will unlock this achievement.

You will first need to build the Overseer's Office to access quests. It costs 1000 Caps and require 18 Dwellers. If you upgrade it to level 2 and 3, you will be able to send Dwellers to 2 and 3 quests at the same time. After that, you will be able to access the Quest menu and will see a list of different quests along with a brief description of them, their rewards and any requirements, including weapon and armor type and dweller level. All the requirements must be met in order to begin the quest. Be sure to equip your Dwellers with good weapons and a lot of Stimpacks/RadAway.

Once you've sent some Dwellers on quests, they will leave the Vault and you will need to wait/skip a certain amount of time before playing the quest. Returning to the Vault will also take some time. You will then take controls of your Dweller(s) and will need to explore a new area until you complete the objective of the quest, such as finding an item, talking to someone or killing a certain enemy. Once you have completed the objective, you can finish the quest and return to your Vault but you should visit every room in order to find more loot.

Try to complete the quests that give pets as rewards, as there are chances to obtain a rare Parrot which will have a 3x objective bonus. This will allow you to save a lot of time if you equip it to one of your dweller.

Note than the Dwellers that you send on the Wasteland can also access random quests, you will hear a signal and see an icon on your screen and will need to press to access it. These will count for the trophy.

If you want quick and painless quests, feel free to skip time and change the date around Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas etc. There are special quests available for a limited time which are always low level and don't take long to complete, plus they give nice outfits for your Dwellers.

Note that having the Parrot with 3x objective bonus equipped to one of the dweller completing a quest, will count as 3 quests completed and save a lot of time.

If you are too lazy to complete the quests that are given to you during the story, you can fast forward one day and complete the Daily Quests (light orange card). These tasks are quite easy and not long.

I can talk about simplifying this trophy. Wind back the clock closer to the New Year. Around December 25th. New Year's events appear in missions. They are very quick to complete. Sometimes it's just talk, for which they can give you a legendary.

play fairly and take your time. Once you have three groups of strong fighters, you can start boosting time rewind so as not to wait 8-12-24 hours of running back and forth.
in any case, you will have to do the tasks , and the daily ones are not so shorter than the story ones, but in the latter you can still get legendary weapons and costumes, and everything else.

1:59 or 3:59 running around can often be skipped for bottles, there will be enough of them as you complete tasks + often collected from a walking bottle (after completing a task). and in the first couple, while you have one squad, you can essentially “play” the game, and not wait for timers.

An approximate algorithm for quickly and HONESTly obtaining this trophy is as follows: We build a caretaker’s room, build it up to the third level - this way we get the opportunity to send groups on three tasks at the same time.
In groups for tasks, we select residents with the maximum available indicators of endurance (E) and agility (A) - the first gives an increase in HP, the second allows you to deal damage to the enemy more often.
He gives them the best weapons available in stock, and we also don’t forget about a supply of stimulant and antiradin for the trip.
We speed it up if possible
transitions between points using Nuka-Cola - cola is spent at the rate of one bottle for two hours of travel.
