How to unlock the Veteran achievement in Mass Effect 3 - Definitive Guide
You could prob stick an engineer out there with the turrets and just let that do the work also
FOLLOW strikers guide to get you to the area.
BUT FIRST .... You want to be an engineer to boost this so if you were not an engineer in me3 don't import a me3 character as it may not let you choose to be an engineer.
Instead import a me2 character and you WILL get the option to choose a class... Pick engineer and as soon as you can go to the squad screen. Spend points on sentry turret and level it up to six picking the following options ...
Rank 4 - shields and damage
Rank 5 - cryo ammo
Rank 6 - flamethrower
This will allow your sentry to last long and do major damage and also freeze the enemies quite often.
Now select tech mastery and level it to 6 picking the following ....
Rank 4 - power damage
Rank 5 - damage and capacity
Rank 6 - DRONE MASTERY
Rank 6 is super important it allows your drones to be super drones!
Now select combat drone and boost it to the highest level you can choosing the following....
Rank 4 - shields and damage
Rank 5 - shields and damage
Rank 6 - chain lightening
Now you can choose to be lazy and allow both the drones to kill for you which will take about 4 to 5 hours to obtain 5,000 kills OR you can use both drones and shoot enemies as well with the pistol which will take about 1 to 1.5 hours to obtain 5,000 kills. You will need to keep an eye on the drones either way because they will die sooner or later. It seems that the sentry drone lasts 3 to 5 times longer than the combat drone.
Or you could do a little of both like I did, it took me 3 hours and I only shot the enemies for about 30 minutes.
Also just stand to the far right where the ammo spawns and send your drones across from that spot.... It's the optimal spot to place them.
I suggest doing this all in one session as you don't want to risk being reset again as it has happened to many people multiple times!
Good luck! Any questions feel free to ask.
Update:
FYI you can also add that using a turbo controller then you can just let it run for you over night just turbo the combat drone button.

There's a mission not too far into the game where you have to rescue a Primarch from Paleven's moon. There's a place in this mission where you climb a ladder and take control of a mounted turret. At that point, two waves of Husks start approaching the barricade, and you pretty much just blast them away from a distance with the mounted gun.
If you have a save before this mission or somehwere near the beginning of it, find it and then make another save just before climbing up the ladder. That will give you a load point between rounds.
Load, climb the ladder, blast both waves of Husks, and then when the cutscene kicks in with the Brute knocking you off, just quickly skip through the cutscenes (takes about a second or two to skip) so that you see the "saving" message. Now just reload the save before the ladder, climb up, and repeat.
I seem to be getting 25 to 35 kills each round, and the round doesn't last long if you get into a good groove. I haven't timed it, but I seem to be getting about 500 kills in under half an hour using this method.
Maybe not the best, buf it might work for somebody close to the 5000 target and just needs a few hundred more.
(Update) Yeah, I timed it, and I got about 35 kills in less than 2 minutes. Factor in the loading time, and it should be possible to get somewhere around 500 kills every half hour. Gets boring after a while, of course.
So on the final mission, Priority Earth when you first land you are sent to take out a cannon using heavy weapons from a downed shuttle, once you destroy the cannon it shift to a sequence where you are waiting for extraction. You will know this started as a Banshee comes up over the edge.
So you kill the banshee them move over to where the enemies will endlessly re-spawn. The shuttle will arrive, DO NOT GET ON. Cannibals will spawn endlessly in fairly rapid succession here. Kill as many as you can as fast as you can until the shuttle explodes, game over screen, hit continue and you start right as the banshee comes up.
I was getting 30-50 kills, if you have the ability pickup Aria's Flare ability. Great AOE killer.
Good luck! and remember easier difficulty makes this quicker, you can even place a save right after Cortez goes down.

Pretty self-explanatory. The good thing here is that the kills that count towards this trophy are the totals over all playthroughs and in online play. You’ll easily get this over the course of the game. Also, any kills that you had before you died are not reset, they will count to your total. I ended up my first playthrough on Insanity with about 1800 kills, so there will be some grinding for this trophy.
Reapers
- Husk - Basic reaper enemy. Swarms you with melee attacks. Has a single health bar.
- Cannibal - The other basic reaper enemy. Hangs back, shoots, and attempts to flank from cover. Also uses grenades. Will consume fallen cannibals to restore health. Has a single health bar.
- Marauder - Frequently uses cover and shoots at you. Can restore health to husks and cannibals. Has a shield and health bar.
- Ravager - Mobile turret. Fires three shots before requiring a recharge. Releases swarmers from it's egg sac. Has a single armor bar.
- Banshee - Uses Biotic Charge to come straight at you. Will kill you instantly when it grabs you. Uses a Nova like power to stun you and drain your shields. Also uses a projectile attack that will wipeout your shields and wear down your health. Has a barrier and health bar.
- Brute - Very large enemy that charges enemies. Getting hit with a charge will wipe out your shields. Also has a powerful close range melee attack. Has a single armor bar.
- Harvester - Spawns other basic reaper enemies like husks, cannibals, and marauders. Has a powerful beam attack that will wipe out your shields. Has a single armor bar.
- Swarmers - Small insect like enemies that are released from ravagers. Extremely weak, but easy to miss on the battlefield. Will leap at you and and slowly drain your shields.
Cerberus
- Assault Trooper - The basic Cerberus enemy. Fires from range and utilizes grenades, but will use a melee attack if you get close. Has a single health bar.
- Centurion - The other most common Cerberus enemy. Uses smoke grenades to hide and move around. Will fire from cover and use grenades. Has a shield and health bar.
- Combat Engineer - Constructs turrets and can repair them. Has a shield and health bar.
- Nemesis - Cerberus sniper units. Stays in cover and fires at you. Targeting is indicated by the red laser. Has a shield and health bar.
- Phantom - Very fast moving enemy that can shoot lasers from their hands and has a powerful melee attack. Has a barrier and a health bar.
- Atlas - Extremely powerful enemy. Fires missiles and cannons at you. Has a shield and health bar that are both very strong and will take many hits to bring down.
- Guardian - Carries a shield in front and uses it as cover to shoot out from behind. Biotic powers can knock them back or take away the shields. Has a small opening in the shield to see through that can be used for a head shot. Has a single health bar.
Geth
- Trooper - The basic geth enemy. Like the Cerberus trooper and cannibal, it will shoot at you. Unlike those two, it will not use grenades. Has a single health bar.
- Rocket Trooper - Fires rockets at you from cover. A single rocket will knock you out of cover and drain your shields. Has shield and health bars.
- Hunter - Stays cloaked and attempts to flank you. Is slightly stronger than the regular troopers, but the cloaking makes them a bit tougher. Has shields and health bars.
- Prime - The toughest geth enemy. Has a powerful gun that will drop your shields quickly. Also deploys combat drones and turrets. Will continually move towards you. Has a powerful shield and strong armor bars.
- Pyro - The geth close range trooper. It will lessen the distance between you and attack with flamethrowers. Has shields and a health bar.
This is a lot of enemies to kill. If you die, the enemies you killed will have counted. Therefore, it is technically possible to get this in one playthrough of the campaign. If not, you may get the rest in another playthrough or within the multiplayer "wave" based gametype.
Note: Even after dying, the ones you have obtained count. They count across all playthroughs as well as multiplayer (which you can play by yourself).
During my run on madness, I shot about 1800 enemies. Knocking out 100% readiness - about a thousand more.
The single has a wonderful place where enemies respawn endlessly. Take an engineer, or any class with ignition , upgrade to level 4 and take area ignition, set the difficulty to “narrative”.
In the prologue, we go with Andersen until the moment where you meet two soldiers, you will be automatically put in a shelter and the prompt “press for guidance and for shooting", instead we get up from behind cover and begin to burn opponents. Opponents will appear until we shoot one while sitting in cover. With a cooldown on Ignition of 2.5s, we get about 50 enemies per minute( because it burns two at a time). As a result, about 500 opponents in 10 minutes.
So I went from 2800 to 5000 in less than an hour. This is clearly faster than multiplayer or replaying the game.
Here is a visual video (by the way, I didn’t know that there were endless cartridges, lol) of this moment.
I typed it on Earth, where the second rocket launcher needed to be launched. So, if you don’t start it, Banshees and Raiders will appear there endlessly . I played as an engineer, used a Combat Drone and a Defense Turret (so as not to waste ammo). It is better to take Garrus with Armor-Piercing and James with Incendiary cartridges on the team. The difficulty, of course, is Narrative.
