How to unlock the Jack of all Trades achievement in Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord - Definitive Guide
Overall this is an easy and fast achievement. The description is accurate and straightforward, but the way the skirmish game mode and unit loadouts work it can get a bit complicated to figure out. That's why I've added this guide to help out for people trying to make smoothly running boosting sessions.
The biggest hurdle is that you will need 4 players to get a match of skirmish started. This game mode is only available through the matchmaking option in multiplayer and nobody in the Bannerlord community plays it. I imagine getting this through natural play would be extremely difficult too as this mode has limited spawns based on how much gold you get per round. With 4 players you will have exactly enough gold for the required 5 kills for one player. This means only one player will be able to get this achievement per round. Best done with a boosting session of 4 players or 2 players double-boxing.
To start up a game of skirmish open the multiplayer menu. Then navigate to the "Play" tab. Select "Matchmaking" on the left hand menu and choose a region in the small dropdown above this. Make sure all players choose the same region. Now in the main screen make sure to only have a checkmark on the "Skirmish" game mode. Then everyone should select "Play" to start matchmaking. Nobody plays this mode anymore so you should have no trouble getting an empty match to boost in. You need at least 4 players to get the match to begin. Otherwise you will be stuck waiting on matchmaking forever.
Now once you are in a game you should have a 5 minute warmup period. The time for this can vary from what we saw, but is generally 3-5 minutes. You need to use this time to plan which units you will spawn as. The spawn timer once the match begins is very short and you need to chose your units perfectly in order to have enough spawns to allow for 5 kills and the required weapons. You are at the mercy of what the random matchmaking gives you for cultures and not all cultures have access to the same units. In order for this achievement to be possible you need access to a horse (any mounted unit), a couch-able lance (Vlandian knight, Sturgian druzhinnik, Imperial Cataphract, etc), any melee weapon (sword, mace, spear), and a ranged weapon that can be used on horseback (recurve bow, javelins, etc). During warmup you should strategize which units you need to spawn so that their weapons are available to the player going for the 5 kills. Weapons can be dropped on the ground so you only need to spawn them in once. Then always spawn the cheapest unit for 100 gold. Each player get 300 gold per round to use. You can carry gold forward to later rounds if you need, but most matchups should allow you to get the achievement for one player per round. This mode is best of 3 so if you have 4 players this will take two matches.
Note: The menu to choose units is on the right hand side of the screen. After you choose a unit you can check their weapons on the left hand side of the screen. Under each unit there are two perks. You can click these to open the menu to choose from a list of perks for each unit. Units like the Imperial Cataphract require the Lancer perk in order to spawn with a couch-able lance. You will likely need to choose perks in order to spawn in your lance and ranged mounted weapons. Most of the default units do not have the required weapons.
What we found that we needed to do was spawn in one horseman on the team which was being used to farm. These units cost around 200 gold. The remaining 100 gold was used to spawn in one more basic unit. The other player feeding kills used their 300 gold to spawn 3 basic units. This gives 5 units to kill to the player going for the achievement. That player then spawns in with a ranged mounted weapon. Their partner spawns in with ranged ammo. Depending on the cultures you end up with you may need to swap these roles around. Just keep in mind that you need 5 units total spawned on the enemy team (from the player getting the achievement's perspective) so you can only spawn a single expensive unit (110 or more gold) and all other units need to be the basic 100 gold units.
Beyond that it is just a matter of picking up the right weapons off the ground and getting the kills. You will have plenty of time as this mode does not end rounds based on captured points like siege. Note that you do have a timer to spawn in though so all boosting partners need to be paying attention and not going AFK.
If you get unlucky with cultures and can't get the required weapons+kills to spawn with 600 gold, then you can spawn a single 100 gold unit and then opt not to respawn by waiting out your timer. This will carry forward the 200 gold to the next round to make things a bit easier.
