How to unlock the Gold Plated achievement in Need for Speed - Definitive Guide

I managed to find my solution on an old message since the previous solution was taken down with my credit, so here it is again:

I thought I would share some little tips that I hope will help you guys. Personally I agree with what you guys are saying about EA's decisions on this mode. I get the idea they got all their testers to race as fast as they could and then rounded up the score to the nearest 5 or 0. It spoils the enjoyment further and makes it a nuisance for completionists.

I play a lot of racing games competitively and getting gold was a big test of patience since every little thing makes a difference since its gone from 'Down to the second' to 'Down to the split-second'.

Cars I used
Racing/Time Attack = Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 2.8
Racing/Time Attack = Baek Kustoms Hot-Rod F132
Drifting = Lamborghini Hurican LP 610-4

Top 5 Hardest ones I thought to be:
1. Use it or Lose it (Touge) (Lamborghini Huracan)
2. Wide and Tight (Drift Trial) (Lamborghini Huracan)
3. On the Dream Team (Finale) (Porsche 911 Carrera RSR2.8)
4. Mental Block (Gymkhana) (Lamborghini Huracan)
5. Business or Pleasure (Sprint Race) (Porsche 911 Carrera RSR2.8)

Circuit/Sprint/Time Trial

- Use all the space available.
- Ignore the racing line. Aim to go as straight and smooth as possible.
- Save your boost for the exit of turns and don't turn while boosting.
- If you lightly and quickly tap the brake to initiate a slide while at speed you can control a very fast speed drift without losing speed, helpful for those turns that are too sharp for grip and not enough of an angle to properly drift round.
- Most these events you don't need to worry about AI since you should be super fast, so there is no need to play defensive on the inside of a turn. Start wide, enter sharp, end close to the outside to keep as much of your speed as possible.
- The more you race on a track the more you will know the true racing line. The videos provided are as close to a perfect line as described.

All Drift Events

- Use all the space available.
- Balance with high speed drifting and angle. Enter fast and sharp then finish making your slide as long as possible. Enough practice you will be able to drift close to a straight line.
- Manual Transmission is essential, I'm sorry for those who are used to automatic but what you don't want is for your car to shift up or down mid drift, it will throw you off your rhythm. I never did manual before starting this, eventually I got it nailed. Key tip is to drift in 3rd gear for the most part, 2nd gear for the super tight turns and 4th gear for high speed drift (on straight wide roads). Your rev should be on the limit while drifting so you have the right speed and control.
- Once you get the hang of manual, you will get into a rhythm and know when to drift and at what angle and speed. Who knows you may even drift where others don't or can't and get 20k more points in one section then anyone online, trust me it can happen.
- In Touge events aim to be speedy and drift to get ahead. Once ahead make as much of your advantage to drift some heavy points. If an AI is right behind on a turn you then you can effectively drift block them if you are ahead of them for a second. They will only bash you if you suddenly appear in front of them, give it a second and they should slightly slow down. At the straights make sure to make use of your 'Action Fill Boost' as 90% of the time it will be full, it is the best way to get as much ahead. If you have time, get in a cheeky small drift if you can.
- Try starting a drift by tapping the handbrake and the brake together. While in a drift make it slide longer by throttling, then tapping the brake and angle your car to make it slide tight when you can and long when the road straightens out.

General/Hidden Tricks

- Try racing in a solo game.
- Position your car to suit your starting point. Furtherest in front will take .5 to a second off your time while maybe furtherest behind may help with getting speed for a turn right in front of you.
- You can't control where the AI is at the start so on rolling starts make sure you pick the quickest and smoothest route past them.
- Gave it best acceleration you could put on the drifting Lamborghini. You need it for to get up to speed better in tighter spots.
- Be lucky. Its not a tip but you really do have to be. For the last race I spent 3 hours trying over and over and got 2 seconds off Gold, then tried it the next morning and with a relaxed head I managed 7:38.82.
- Be focused. This is not a joke, make sure you have had something to eat and mental energy of concentration as you have to race the perfect line and adjust depending on what obstacle is in your way. Drift events will take a lot of patience to get round and there is a lot more into them then racing events. If you are mentally drained then take a break.

Hope that helps, I'll try to help with any other questions if people have any other thoughts. Hope you guys can do it!
Rip up that road!

All these gamers saying that its possible and we should try it can all get their faces smashed in. This is the closest thing to impossible. The game is broken as it is with the controls and spawns. Why turn a reasonably ok game into a nightmare for completionists. The update is pointless. The times are ridiculous. The scores to get a stupid. I have yet to get one gold and I blitzed the other NFS games and enjoyed them in the process. I've put eight hours into one race and still can't get it. I've done this on a few of the first races and can't get any of them. EA and Ghost are a standing joke. Fix this and make it fair. Anyone who has done it and posts any comments after me saying it is fair and possible you can all get fucked. Where's the petition to sort this out? I will sign it 1000s of times to fix this shit. Completed every NFS to date I started and now these assholes had to go and do something like this. Stop making games cunts.

The glitch appears to be "random", as I noticed a couple months ago that the timer had disappeared and the NOS would refill almost instantly. It comes and goes. Still, most of the events don't have to do with acceleration that much, so if it does help, that's a little.

I just won this, so I'll throw in my two cents.

I used the F132 for all racing events, never touched the Porsche (your mileage may vary). I also kept auto transmission for the drift events and never had any trouble.

It's hard to describe the level of skill difference there is between completing the main game and going after the gold medals. There is a fine nuance to the driving and drifting. One of the biggest drifting components is learning to use the brake in tandem with the throttle and knowing how to extend a drift onto the straights (there are plenty of videos of gold runs to study), but it is so so crucial to understand that finesse. It will take hours and hours of practice just to get good enough to get a gold medal in each of the first events.

Comparing Dante's hardest events, I didn't find On the Dream Team (the finale) hard at all. There's plenty of time--the main thing is getting lucky traffic spawns, which is pretty damn important for all events. Same for Mental Block. I found Clamping Down to be really hard, and Torque of the Town (maybe a drawback of using the F132).

This is a controller-breaking achievement no doubt. Redoing some of the events over and over for hours (like Clamping Down) and crashing/being a few points short is how I imagine hell to be.

Thanks DanteDevilDan!

Now just got to learn how to drift again after just learning to hold the right trigger down as much as possible for 23 events straight for 8 days straight, spending 3-9 hours a day lol (although i think 1 day, maybe the 2nd day, I had enough and played on PC, i think it was when i was doing torque of the town lol).

I'm really struggling with keeping a drift going, like the little turns to do to keep a drift going especially for wide and tight drift event. Just don't quite understand the concept of how to do that type of drifting yet. But trying to beat time trials to drifting is a complete 180 on how to play lol. I did all the races first only so i could do the drifting events and would be more relaxing/enjoyable and hopefully less frustrating, I stuck to 1 event at a time until I got gold as eventually you memorise the track and know what corners are coming up and what line to take, you know exactly when to brake/hand brake turn 85% of the time and then you need luck on traffic AI and on some very sharp turns you try taking at high speed.

I'm sure i'll get there just unsure how long it'll take :D
I still think this is hard, the fact that I did 8 days straight spending at least 4 hours a day playing. On the 7th day I actually ended getting 7 gold medals (how ironic eh :D), so only had the "I am the Law" (which got a bit frustrating at time especially as didn't even know it was at least a 4 min race) and the final long race to do on the bank holiday Monday.
I'm currently sitting on 25/41 golds (23 race events gold / 2 drift events Gold):
8/8 - 3/8 - 5/8 - 2/8 - 6/8 - 1/1

I'll try keep plugging away at these drift events.

@Sky Maniac Good luck on your end, if you got past torque of the town, you'll be able to do all of them with time and patience. Don't forget to take breaks from it when you start getting frustrated :)

I finally got all gold on prestige events. Only took me 5 years, had it on my HD for a long time too. So glad to finally be done with this. I found Torque of the town the hardest race as spent about 8 hours trying to do it. Hardest drift i found was Mental Block, i think mainly cause it is so long meaning you have to be so perfect and consistent throughout, this also took about 4 hours of 2 evenings of mine to complete it. I had 1 attempt where i got 849,300 or something and was 600-700 score off a gold (850k) all cause a traffic car got in the way at the final corner which stopped me from drifting round properly.
I finished on Wide and tight, after learning how to drift properly as I skipped it as found it too hard at the start, it was the right move as i came back to it and found the tight areas much easier to handle after my drifting skills had improved a lot.

I want to thank DanteDevilDan for his videos which helped me as well as the messages of support form both in these comments and via Xbox live messaging. The videos of
Paragleiber (Gleiber) on YouTube also helped me as DanteDevilDan didn't have all the events on his channel up so had to find other videos to reference.

The setups that DanteDevilDan had listed on this guide are perfect although for 1 race event I found a different setup online which worked for me but then went back to the one on this guide.
In all I'd say this achievement took me 85-95 hours to complete. Might have been faster had i not got so frustrated at times and had more luck on my side. Also might have been tired after work which might have caused me to take longer on completing an event. All in all, by far the hardest achievement I've gone for in terms of skill required. The difficulty on some races and drifts are mental compared to some others which can be much easier and done much faster.

I don't think i'd offer to do this for anyone else not even if they paid me. Its just too frustrating of a game mode and one that was made way too difficult.

Well this can now be deleted off my HDD :)
Good luck whoever else goes for this. Persistence is key and your skill level will rise with time, especially as you learn the tracks, as it will become muscle memory where and when you need to brake etc. Drifting events were definitely more enjoyable except a couple, and with time your drifting skills will improve. Don't forget to take breaks. Enjoy :)

Hey buddy, nice to hear from someone who’s done it!
I don’t suppose you could write a list of the cars (and where applicable, the customisation) you used in each event at all?
And even better, maybe some videos of your golds, or EVEN better yet, videos with some overlap saying when you hit brake or nitrous etc.?

Hey man great guide the only thing I would change is that you definitely don't need to use a manual for either the speed or drift events. Its all personal preference of course but many people just can't master manual so for those there is still hope!

@RYN16
If you can get Golds on drift events on automatic then by all means go for it. Only trouble I had was when the car changed gear during a turn it would throw me off. I use Auto for the races since it gives me more concentration to focus on the racing line.

Disappointed that you haven't bothered to share what cars you used and any tuning setups you had at all. Was almost tempted to give a negative vote just for that, but I won't since other than that this is mostly solid advice overall.

So true. I only have a few golds but I feel that mastering the physics of this game is half the battle. The physics of this game feel so different and unconventional than any other racing game.

constructive criticism:

the + and - on some of these things are useless without a key. I have no idea what any of the suspension tunings are, nor half of the handling tunings, because they're not positive or negative. They're front / rear, higher/ lower, etc. and when the game does use less/ more, less is to the right, so I have no idea if you kept with that, or went with how number lines work where negative is on the left.

Recently unlocked this. Used the Huracan for the drift events and the F132 exclusively for the races. Used a combination of manual and auto transmission for the Drift events, depending on the course. Used the same tuning setup for the F132 as Dante. My Huracan was retuned constantly depending on the event.

Hardest Drifts

1. Wide and Tight: The first half of the course down the mountain is supremely tough, due to how cramped the twists and turns are. This event really forces you to master drifting, and manual transmission is essential here unless you hate yourself. The point requirement for Gold is also absurd, making it necessary to use the Wrong-Way trick to get thousands more points than you'd normally get just sticking to the driving line.

2. Clamping Down: Fuck this event. The course itself is easy to navigate and drift in, but the random traffic spawns are absolute ass and WILL fuck you over a thousand times. On one of my attempts, I had an amazing run with many tens of thousands of points in a drift combo that would have put me over the Gold requirement once they banked, but a random traffic spawn whacked me into a rail and lost me all those points and there was no time to recover. Maddening.

3. Use it or Lose it: You will come to despise the rubberbanding in this event. It's a Touge contest with a ridiculous Gold requirement, meaning you HAVE to stay in 1st place pretty much continuously to keep the maximum point multiplier. Unfortunately the second you take first place, the AI drivers will activate their rocket engines to catch up, which is infuriating. This is the case in all the Touge events, but there are several long straight sections in this particular course that give the AI the opportunity to blow past you and steal away the point multiplier.

4. Mental Block: Difficult because of it's length and the insane Gold requirement. If you can make it to the tunnel at the bottom of the mountain with 450-500K points, you're in pretty good shape heading into the city. Unfortunately it's so so easy to lose points (and time) in the city section bumping into things, and there are a few nasty random traffic spawns near the end of the course that can ruin you if you're low on time. Traffic spawns in the mountain section are very light and forgiving in comparison.

5. Nocturnable: Another Drift event where you need to use the Wrong-Way trick to reach the Gold target easier. Even with the trick it's not that much easier. You'll need to actually spend quite a bit of time between some of the checkpoints Wrong-Waying, but if you spend too much time between those checkpoints, the game will actually end the event, forcing you to start again.

Hardest Races

1. Maniac or Master?: This race has the absolute nastiest traffic spawns of any race in the Prestige events. Traffic spawns in the WORST places imaginable, my "favourite" being a random spawn that's right around a corner that you'll always be taking at high speed (if you're going for Gold) so there's no chance of avoiding it. If that particular spawn is there you'll crash into it guaranteed. Restart race. Oh, and it's a two lap event, so twice the chance for things to go wrong. Fun!

2. Torque of the Town: The Gold time is absolutely preposterous. You can't afford to slow down for even a moment, so your drifting and driving lines need to be perfect. A drift that's too prolonged or even just lightly scraping a rail can slow you down by a hundredth of a second and probably ruin your run unless you're flawless throughout the rest of the course. Oh, and there's a ton of awfully placed random traffic spawns, too.

3. Hungry as a Manticore: The course has some irritating sections, but the traffic spawns are what will ruin your Gold attempts so many times, especially the tunnel at the end of the course and the final stretch of road. Sometimes there's no traffic and you have a nice clear ride through the tunnel and then the sprint to the finish, and other times there's several cars in the tunnel and another two on the final stretch that force you to slow down or you'll crash. Total ass.

4. Skill or Eskil?: Insane Gold time. No room for error. Most of the course isn't too hard, but the final spiral off ramp is a total bitch. You have to hit it at full speed and pull off a perfect drift through it to have a chance at reaching the target Gold time. If you scrape any of the walls, you won't make it. There are random traffic spawns that can appear in this off ramp, too, and if they're there you'll probably crash into or be slowed down by them. Restart.

5. On The Dream Team: The final event. From a purely racing standpoint, this isn't the hardest course, but the traffic spawns are completely out of control. The absolute bullshit you go up against in this race really needs to be experienced to be believed. And it's long. Soooo long. It should also be mentioned that there are several points in this event where you can fall victim to invisible crash zones. These zones are flat areas of ground where if you drive over them at high speed, you can hit them in a certain bullshit way (beyond your control) that the game considers it a crash even though you didn't actually crash into anything. Awful.

Thank you for these suggested builds! I haven't started the prestige stuff yet, but I started working on these builds in the main game and this just makes things... Unfair for the AI. Huge thanks for this solution!

I rarely get really frustated with a game but these prestige races are the fking worst. If it were not enough that the time and score you have to achieve are so absolutly out of mind for any more "casual" player, i have the feeling that the AI enemies in these races are intentional crashing into you or try to push you out of the street. The amout of tries i have for the first 3 drift missions just because you can not drive in a normal fashion without someone ramming into you every 3 seconds.

Maybe one day I will try to do this (assuming the servers don't get shut off, if that's possible, as this title is online only after all :/). Just need the time and patience to go for this but much better games to play than this and waste 100 hours or more on it :/

On 24/08/2020 I decided to try go for this stupid achievement as I couldn't decide what game to play and thought why the heck not (for some odd reason). I also happened to have a week off work + the bank holiday Monday and weekend to play.
On 31/08/2020 at 23:00 i finished all the race events for prestige mode with a gold medal, that's 23/41 including the final big race. The race I had the most trouble with was Torque of the Town which took me between 7-9 hours over 2 days (afternoon/evening then the early afternoon the next day but only a couple of hours the next day i completed it).
On average it took me 2-3 hours to complete each race event, a few were even done in under an hour. I only had 1 which was way off which I have already spoken about.
I used DanteDevilDan setup for the porsche 911 RSR for all races except Torque of the Town which I found a slightly different setup for which was a bit more stable, although it likely took me so long cause I was still getting used to the game and how/when to drift and do handbrake turns properly without losing too much speed.
Slightly more stable setup, credit goes to "Blitz" for this setup(From top to bottom):
-3, -2, -1, +1, on, on, on, +1, 0, -1, -3, less, -2, -5, -1, -5, off

But DanteDevilDan's setup is awesome. I used the Porsche 911 RSR on all race events, it is way better than the Hotrod once used to the handling of it of the Porsche

I can tell you one thing for sure that the timer sucks, i have been done numerous times from 2/100th to 70/100th of a second because the timer doesn't stop instantly after crossing the finish line.
Do take breaks in between times maybe every few hours and eat/drink occasionally too like DanteDevilDan says in this guide as it does help to refocus. Also use videos on youtube by DanteDevilDan or Paragleiber (Gleiber) to see how they do it. I also took note of times in certain places so i can calculate how well I was doing on that run, and could restart if i was way behind etc to not waste my time.
There's no doubt, the more you do the track, the easier the track will be as you will slowly memorise the track and then comes down to some luck with the traffic which will undoubtedly get in your way a lot of the time as it has for me and even the AI racers on occasions.
I have beaten some tracks by 2-7 seconds on some and others by 100ths of a second but as long as you get the gold, who cares :D

I never thought I'd get this far. Now I only have drift events to go which should be much more enjoyable and hopefully easier once i get used to drifting properly again.

Hopefully won't take me too long to get all gold medals on drifting events (already done 2 from a few years back).
Good luck to all who attempt this and hope this helps people struggling on the races for prestige mode. :) dance

You’re both doing great!
You have completed some of the annoying ones and I’m curious to test out other setups to see how it goes. The game mechanics can’t change, but your driving skill can, and improve a lot. Take breaks and have patience and you will see some little patterns and take advantage for the win 👍👍

The drifting takes a little getting used to get the big points, but once you've done one you can do all of them smile

tbh I'm not finding this frustrating, the difficulty isn't as hard as I thought. I've only put in around 10-12 hours so far into prestige. I like a challenge though and I'm very determined not to be beaten by a challenge laugh
question is: Trackmania Turbo or Assetto Corsa next wink

@KillCrazyCarl
@Sky Maniac

You’re both doing great!
You have completed some of the annoying ones and I’m curious to test out other setups to see how it goes. The game mechanics can’t change, but your driving skill can, and improve a lot. Take breaks and have patience and you will see some little patterns and take advantage for the win 👍👍

Getting the hang of drifting now. Just 5 left to do now. 2 more drift events in crew (blue) and 3 more drift events in style (yellow). I'm on the home stretch :)

almost there KillCrazyKarl!
I managed to finish this last night, ended up quite enjoying it laugh
Took roughly 35-40 hours in total to get all the events gold - might have been less if I wasn't so tired on some of the evenings.

The two hardest events for me were Torque of the Town & Clamping Down.

Shame the difficulty seems to be so random - some events you can only just scrape by and others you can win by 5 seconds+

after almost 5 years of being on my hard drive, I'm glad to finally remove it laugh

I did Gold on all RACES without much problems. But the drift events... Man, it's just too hard to drift good in this game because of the physics when your car rams itself into the wall during a drift. I gave up on the drift events.

I managed the achievement after approximately 15 hours on these 41 races alone. Thank you for the various comments and the guide itself, definitely hard but not as bad as it everyone seems to make out in my opinion.

Lol yeah screw ghost and EA You’d have a easier time getting the LASO achievements on MCC than this horrific achievement. The psychics are horrible. I literally lost a race when my car wouldn’t turn and slammed into the wall

This achievement is simply about patience. I personally tried to do a daily race, in order to get gold in each test ... and it worked for me! It is not worth going from race to race as it is really stressful to watch your car crash every time you make a little mistake. I think that's what makes this achievement interesting, as not just any fan will get it; so whoever has this achievement, can boast of being a true lover of racing, and of the NFS saga! (I think it's an excellent achievement on EA part)

Okay, so I’ve completed story mode already but the game won’t let me access the prestige “app”. Has anyone had the same problem? According to the Wiki I’m supposed to get a text from Travis.

Edit: Wiped my progress and upon completing the campaign again, the app unlocked.

People claiming this is possible in a day probably used Steam Achievement Manager or something similar to get it. To everyone: just leave it be. Totally not worth the time and headache. It's flawed beyond repair and EA won't fix it.

Just 100%'d whole game in a week with really modest hours during holidays. Honestly if you don't let AI get in your head this is very doable.

I Don't Think It's To Hard Is Just Depends On Skills And Luck Sometimes
I Managed To Get Gold In All Races And The Drift Ones In Just 20 Hours
The Races Are Not So Difficult If You Love Racing Games Especially NFS Games The Controlling Is The Same.
But The Drift Ones They Gonna Make You Lose Your Mind Because The NPC Will Crash You Every Time You Be In 1ST Position

@KillCrazyCarl
I'd also agree that Torque of the town is the hardest I've done so far - took me about 3 hours of practice to shave 4 seconds before I got gold. Decided to stop the races and give the drift events a go for a break laugh

The difficulty seems to be very up and down - Spikes 2nd race I got gold on my second attempt (but it only really consisted of 2 corners laugh)

As for the drifting events, the hardest for me was the 5th one in Manu's list. (second set of events) The AI just constantly ram you if you get ahead and then traffic just seems to constantly spawn on the prime drifting lines laugh and probably with the hardest target score for gold (for me anyway - several attempts the time ended with me on 520/525k points)
The only issue with the drift events is the server connection - sometimes if you lose connection slightly it wont add up the drift points.

I'm currently sitting on 15/41 golds and it's not as hard as everyone made out.
5/8 - 8/8 - 0/8 - 2/8 - 0/8 - 0/1
I've only focused on one event at a time - getting gold then starting the next one.

anyway good luck with the drift events, you're almost there! toast

hi I just unlocked the achievement is thank you for all you video is setting which my a lot helped. I want to say that the game has problems on series X when the game is on the SSD when you start several times the races it has a problem the display of time no longer appears is we have nitro practically in unlimited that has not helped a lot for the times .

Yeeeeeah, it's safe to say that I won't ever be 2.2K'ing this game because of how fucking AWFUL the collision physics are with the walls. Like, I go a bit more than 100MPH and hit a wall when I'm not even directly facing it with the front of my car and I CRASH! This game seriously needed a lot more time in development, so fuck this decision and achievement.

Hey guys, I've been in contact with Ghost and EA several times regarding this game, in one correspondence I was told in order to get things changed it often requires a lot of community input, which is what happened in Battlefield when they changed those requirements.

Now Battlefield is more popular than this game, so this "solution" is part of an appeal I setup over on PST and XBA forums. EA need a good hounding on this, and chances are it will equate to nothing, but it's worth a shot.

For anyone coming here new to the Speedlists DLC...and wondering what the issue is....let's break it down:

Prestige Mode:

- Insane Gold Medals (people can barely get bronze)
- Only a select few cars can make the times (all in game vehicles should be able)
- Cops & Online are present during all this
- Worst vehicle handling in any NFS game to date
- Inconsistent wall collisions...sometimes you bounce, sometimes you crash out
- AI traffic seems to aim for you at times
- Sometimes you can't even go in a straight line, car has a mind of it's own

So yeah, while it has a small fanbase, and the core title for it's flaws was not so bad, this DLC has brought all the games weaknesses to the surface. This game wants the community following of Forza, and craves the coolness of Driveclub, and fails on all levels.

Many of us got the game based on the broken promise that after years of awful titles, this NFS would be the game NFS fans deserved, if this is what I deserve, I have to ask, what in life did I do wrong to EA? We researched the Achievements, it was a simple list, many of us completed it. Now for 95% of the community, we will never max this game.

What can we do? Not much, but I advise everyone who feels as strongly about EA's slap in the face as I do, to visit these links and voice your opinions.

HOnestly, I don't expect too much. They don't care about this game any longer. NFS Carbon, the first game on the 360 had a broken achievement at launch and they didn't do anything about it. Sure, the developer could fix it, but some moron executive over at EA has to approve the cost, and since they probably don't have a budget to fix stupid mistakes made by some program who had never played the game and made insane gold requirements, don't hold your breath.

These achievements are the reason I will not purchase this game, although i recently completed RIvals and enjoyed it. I don't care they are free, I don't care they are just updates and could be avoided.

Honestly, I am still sick of EA, all of their developers, titles and business practises.

My slogan for years has been 'EA burn'!

They bottom out the price of their games soon after release.
They drop support for online far too quickly.
All the mistakes they made on the 360... online passes and shit
Bioware should PART WAYS with them.... if they could, but i think they cannot.

The rant is over.... for now.

I'm tired of ya peoples acting like "Since it's an achievement, achieve it" Nah, the game itself is broken. What if someone was only playing for the fun of it, which is why we play videogames in the first place, and we all do to deal with all of these absurdities, what would you tell that person thats ONLY playing for the fun of it uh ? "Ahh man sorry go buy another game then" . Nah, we payed for a product and we expect it to work the way it should be. Sorry but random crashes ? Game thats adding time to your score, cars thats slowing down, all the 7 other racers thats only aiming to take you down EVEN when you doing dirft racings or drag racing ? Dosent make any sense if you ask me right ? Look ,if fixing those bullocks makes the game easier, so be it, but if ya'll wish for those stuffs to stay there JUST for the only purpose of making the game harder, than you understand nothing about gaming my friends, nothing at all. The game itself is broken, fuck the achievement for a minute, my cousin even told me stuffs like yo manual is just not right in this game, I don't feel the way I'm driving compared to forza and PGR and GranTurismo and he never played a single game for achievements, just to enjoy a street racing game. Thosepeoples who bought this game have been robbed of that fun, this is why they mad. Also, why there is only two cars that's able to get such "workers" those achievements tell me ? I mean ... I love the dodge charger, does it mean that I will never be able to complete the game because my choice of car is not suited for the achievement ? Thats BS. Oh another thing, there is about 5 cars that are better than the require car for gold medals, how come those cars are never good enough for gold ? My guess is... as everyone guess is .... This car is bogus, and yes there is plenty of youtube videos showing how this car is a little bit broken, and how the game is broken. Stop protecting the industry by saying stupid stuffs like " Oh man up and work for it" Fuck you mean if anything EA and Ghost shoulda worked on this game and fix their bugs, not us to deal with them, pussies. Fuck you mean. On God next person that says that type of dumbass stuffs I'm reporting them straight up. Go get your facts then comeback, now that typical phrase. I know I worked for it, but I have a job and a life, and I love playing games too! But just like I wouldnt do a 300 hours achievements on Gears cause its grindy, I wont do it cause its poorly designed, and havent been tested since we even asked EA to show up the peoples in their studios who did those times, no answwer at all. The moderator left the forum EA_Tom , and now EA is acting like they never did this game, no wonder Payback was such a market failure.

I'm just going to sell this game, sad because I was having a lot of fun obtaining the achievements. All I was missing was level 70, which I was 4 levels away, and the hard drift achievement everyone keeps mentioning. Was excited to hit my 2,000 gs, but after reading all the comments and trying one of the drifting events myself, I decided to sell the game. I will not support a company that does not care about their fans or consumers.

Yup it's absolutely ridiculous, those requirements. I'm like half way through the bronze medals but I'm really struggling to beat the bronze requirements for the next races in the list.
And that's only bronze. Like how am I supposed to go for gold if bronze is so hard already. The dude in the video makes it look easy but it isn't. There's so many random factors involved, it'll take hrs of retrys to beat some of the bronzes, for me at least. I'm still trying to figure out how to keep the cars under control. And I've put in a good amount of time on this game. It's like nothing I try works. Changing car or setups doesn't seem to do much difference for me either.

But knowing ea they probably won't do jack shit about it.
They're just stalling us, keeping us on a leech.

My goal personally is try to beat bronze and leave the gold achievement for what it is.

@TFV Ghost None of the games I mentioned are hard, they just received poor DLCs that took a ton of boring gameplay to complete and Battlefield tops them all with an insane requirement. 40.000 kills is WAY to much for Hardline. Specially since as far as I read this update was released months after the game came out and did not count kills retroactively. It's just another example of a poor job from them, in no way I'm trying to compare it with the ridiculous difficulty of this one.

It's like Killer Instinct and the 2000 matches per fighter. Some people will do it? Yes, die hard fighting game fans probably have more matches than that with a lot of fighters, but it's just unreasonable as an achievement for the community in general. Glad they had the sense to come around on this one and changed it to 200.

I've been weighing in on the NFS thread at EA too, and they're flat-out ignoring the gamers. I even posted a screencap from here on TA last week that showed that less than twenty people had completely bronzed, no one had gotten all golds, and somewhere around forty people aced the Speedlists.

EA and Ghost just don't care anymore.

I don't have an account on any of the sites mentioned (maybe I do, but if that's the case then I probably forgot my login details long ago). I have been browsing those threads and reading all the replies there though. I personally am on the "it should be changed side". Yes, someone on NFS Forums argued that The Run's platinum times were harder, but there were no achievements tied to them. I think that this achievement is harder than The Run's gold times since those can be obtainable without touching manual transmission (I didn't use it) while here, it sounds like manual is a must, and it can take some time getting used to. The main problem I have with this DLC is that before this, it looked like a list the average joe could complete. Then EA hits them with what probably will be some of the toughest achievements out there. If it was something with hard achievements from the get go like Wipeout HD (PS only game I know, but couldn't think of a better example) then okay. But it just grinds my gears when the initial list looks easy then a developer drops an insanely hard list in a DLC.

NFS carbon is a very frustrating one especially since they never bothered to fix one of their little achievements. EA seem to just want their game out of the factory and be done with it, wait for the money to come in and then straight away work on the next and not respond to the community who are asking questions and help.

@Nobitsura Kage: There's a difference between practicing for a hard achievement and dealing with all the randomness involved with this. You have a timer that doesn't track correctly, bumps that should be fine register as crashes, and floods of traffic with no pattern. All of that on top of insanely hard times and scores make this practically out of reach. One of the Drift events is the same as the previous hardest achievement in this game, yet the score needed is more than double. If this was a stable game it would be down to practice. But all you need is 10 minutes of playing this game to see the basic issues.
0
0
By Stig Assassin on 12 May 2016 22:10
@Stig Assassin: Funny enough there is a bit of a pattern with vehicles spawning if you play the same track enough times. Granted the clock doesn't stop at the right time and the physics are crazy as a tiny bump could catapult your car into space. Its hard to get luck on a game that has so many variables, but luck is still there and those that are fast and stubborn enough will definitely obtain it music

Way too much RNG on the traffic, the AI's way too aggressive, and EA/Ghost expect too much of regular as well as irregular gamers.

By Crater Bob on 13 May 2016 05:12
The worst part is being screwed by something that's totally out of your control.
Finally nailed every part of the race perfectly? Sorry, traffic just spawned on the racing line for the last corner, you lost a second going around it. Silver medal.

By Pra1s3Th3Sun on 15 May 2016 18:04
It doesn't really help when telling people that you need some luck for each track, but the unfortunately reality is that its true. Plus no 2 race attempts are the same so you have to have your guard up all the time.

I will say after some tries, try to remember when cars spawn. Sometimes there is a spawn point for civilian cars that will appear at the same place 2 out of 5 times

Still waiting for EA/Ghost to issue any kind of official response to all our complaining on their forum. Obviously, they're abandoning NFS 2015 to work on their new screw-you, due to come out in a couple years. Regardless, this is the last straw in my book. I've been buying EA titles for over twenty years, and I'm sick of their lack of commitment to their customer base.

You're not alone my friend! This was the last EA game for me too. If an EA game interests me now, I'll first wait a year to see every single DLC they plan to do and if servers are still up, only then I may get the game. Need for speed lost a good amount of fans with this DLC, far more than it has pleased....

I'm just too much of a fan of Mirror's Edge and Battlefield to boycott EA entirely. DICE seems to be a decent developer when it comes to the fans.

With that said, Need for Speed is never getting another penny from me. The one time they drop the overpriced DLC it's used against us at the last minute. I even had fun doing Mental Unblock. Really sad to see it come to this.

I want to thank all the guys who already posted into the technical issues area. I really looks like this shit don't get patched, because it's not really a "glitch/bug". It can't hurt to bump the topic back to page 1. Let's go for 1000 comments! laugh

It seems PS4 players also have a new kind of bug with this title update, because they can't play without other players anymore. Some people also complain about lags (like the trigger to complete the event if you pass the last checkpoint).

Maybe both glitches/bugs are worth a own topic. I know we only care about xbox achievements, but the glitched play solo function affect the whole game. I think with enough reasons for a dlc patch we also raise the chance for a dlc nerf.

Yeah, we should bug them until they fix this. The more we drive away people from buying the game showing how badly done this was the more chances we have they will give up. We have to hit them were it hurts, sales / brand name.

I was going to buy this game since it's on sale for $8, but after seeing this, hell no. And this is more staggering that people say "get good" or " people unlock it so it's not that difficult"..

I guess they've not seen how many have unlocked it year/s later lol

Unlocked by 19 tracked gamers (0% - TA Ratio = 58.62)

Disgusting achievement. This is why I never buy EA games. I cannot support them when they bring out stupid updates like this.

If we all stopped buying their games, they will sit up and listen.

More than a year since this update first release and only 21 people have it. I don't agree with the "people unlock it so it's not that difficult" argument. By that logic, is climbing Mt. Everest not that difficult because people have climbed it already?

Lol just stumbled upon this. These always make me laugh. Everyone always seems to forget they are called achievements. Not participation awards. Git gud. Plain and simple. If you aren't good enough, that's your problem. Crying about it and trying to make it easier is pathetic at best and a slap in the face to people who have earned it legit.

@Shadykilla420
I think the main issue is that people, namely completionists, initially purchased the base game under the impression that the completion was achievable. The DLC is a slap in the face in the sense that it is much harder than the initial game. If the base game was as challenging as the DLC from the start, I'm sure alot of said completionists would have avoided it, or at least would have known what they were getting into.

I agree with you - someone doesn't have the right to an achievement because they purchased the game. If you don't have the ability or time to earn the achievement, then don't. However I do feel that this wouldn't be an issue if it was in the base game.

I don’t really see what the issue is here. Unless everyone that is complaining has tried for hours on end with zero progress (which I doubt) then why are you crying about it? Man up, practice and earn the achievement, don’t expect to be given it on a plate. If the achievement was actually unobtainable or broken then fine, I’d agree it needs fixing. As a completionist myself, I agree this achievement sucks but it’s ridiculous to expect that a game’s achievement list should be catered towards achievement hunters and their silly quest to complete every game they play.

If there is problems then report it to our staff, but being irritable is different. Watch the insults and phrasing.

As someone that completed this on PS4 I'll tell you right now it's rough, it's maddening even. Is it hard as hell? Yes.

But yes. It is doable.

I loved this game personally, and this achievement was definitely taxing. I'm not looking forward to redoing it all at all. It's not entirely fair and is very precise and takes hours of retried and patience.

I for one forget what gaming for fun is most of the time. But is the achievement in question doable? Yes. But it's definitely a breaker.

I'll be recompleting this on probably X1 and my other PS4 account when I rebuy one but when I get here I'll be rechecking how things are going.

EA fixing this achievement however isn't going to happen. It ain't broke and they don't care about an older title that doesent bring in revenue anymore and have unlocks.

I remember being a lover of the NFS franchise, I remember enjoying all the titles without exception ... but I also remember the amount of frustration I felt trying to get this achievement.. and after that I haven't eager to play NFS anymore, because I know it is not matter of me, of my skills as a pilot... I prefer to dedicate 200 hours of my life to polishing each event and to beat IA on maximum dificulty, but in a game well done, in a game just like any Forza!

Those saying git gud are stupid, the games broken, the fastest cars in the game can barely get these times, those who have completed it are an elite breed, you not only need to drive flawlessly, you need to avoid random traffic that aims itself towards you, you heard me, oncoming traffic steers into you. On top of this the controls are horrific, the cars don't respond well. Game has some of the worst vehicle handling ever. Git Gud by all means in other games, but saying it for this one makes you look silly.

All I can say is that if EA does not patch this, I'll never get a game from them again.

They made this stupid 40.000 kills DLC for Battlefield Hardline and never changed it (thank god I don't like Battlefield and never played that game).

After that, they made this ridiculous challenge DLC for Dragon Age where you pretty much had to replay almost the entire game 1.5 times to complete them. I did it, but it was by far the worst DLC I have ever seen on an RPG, it had NO CONTENT at all, was just an attempt to make people replay the same game they had already played.

Now this? They have completely lost their way with DLCs, it became a habit for them to release the last DLC for a game a year later when support for the game is about to end filled with pointless achievements in order to keep people playing the game over and over again.

The last DLC for Titanfall was like that too, a lot of stuff that should have been added back when people were leveling up. As a final DLC it was just a pointless grind to everyone that was already gen10.

This kind of behavior sickens me from developers. I think one of the worst I seen was the producers of the game 'Alekhines Gun.' Games been out less than a month and they decided not to fix an unobtainable achievement leaving loads of gamers stuck with a game that cannot be completed. I wish as a community we could pull together enough that it made enough impact to these companies financially that they would have to reconsider their ways or risk going under. I for one have always been skeptical about EA from a previous NFS title...CARBON, so luckily I have not yet started this game up. I find it sad that I feel I have to wait now until a developer has released all DLC for a game and that TA registers gamers completing games knowing that all achievements are obtainable before starting them myself just to avoid getting screwed like many gamers already have...by this point the game has often gone on sale and I get the game cheaper. If everybody thought this way, companies couldn't survive :/

I support this. The problem is not that challenges are hard, the problem is that this game is a f***n piece of garbage with dumb and unpredictable physics.

That may be, but it's not their fault that there's a bunch of hungry fools out there that get butt hurt anytime a dev puts a half difficult achievement in. The fact remains it's not their fault most people can't handle it or don't want to put the time in. There is absolutely no reason to nerf a perfectly obtainable achievement because not everyone can get it with little to no effort. It completely takes the value out of it for anyone who did it the hard way. As for the completionists, basically anyone who has ever played an ea game should know by now that they are one of the worst devs for unobtainable/discontinued achievements, as well as customer feedback. As such one should always be wary when purchasing any ea game. Imo no achievement should ever be nerfed though unless it's requirements are legit unobtainable.

You don't have to git gud to get this achievement. I am by no means an elite breed when it comes to racing games, and I got this achievement done in 3 weeks playing 4 to 5 hours a day. The key to this whole achievement is to find a tune that works for you on the Porsche 911 there is no other car that will work for the racing part and learning how to drift in the Lambo with manual transmission. I was stubborn and tried to do it in auto and there is no hope. It took a few hours but once you learn it the drifts ones are pretty easy. It also helps to watch videos of what others did to get gold and see how it is done specially for the draft ones. They often find little areas to get the most points out of the run. In the end it comes down to finding a tune that works for you on the 911 and learning how to drift in manual. I found a video of a guy that had some world records that showed his tune and copied that worked well for me.
