How to unlock the Insightful achievement in Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna) - Definitive Guide
There are only a couple of insights that are not directly in your path. Each owl you pass in the game represents an insight, and there is a video you can watch that goes along with it. When you hear an owl hooting, you know an owl is close. The two I did not have when completing the game were 1 in the Forest, and 1 in the Tundra Meadow.
Just a note: You do not need to finish the level after picking up an owl. - Thanks Musquito
Click Play>Chapter Select to see which you are missing.
Easy to miss Owl #1: Chapter Select - Forest
Toward the beginning of the level, when you are trying to get over the second path blocked by trees that you must find a way over, you will hear an owl hooting. This is the owl you need, but you can't get it now.
Once you make it to the other side, this is when you get it. Make sure you don't drop down to break the ice (it will be after two birds, when you start making your way down. Instead, jump over, knocking down a branch, and jump up, but watch out for the blizzard wind that wants to knock you down the hole, making the owl missable.
The video below shows exactly what to do. I put the video in spoiler tags for those people who might think about clicking the video without playing the game first.
Easy to miss Owl #2: Chapter Select - Tundra Meadow
Simply keep going right at the start of this level, and don't go up. The Owl will be on the far right, as far as you can go.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let me know if anyone has issues with others besides the two I listed.
Once you get all 24 Owls, click on Insights in the Main Menu. You don't have to watch the videos, although I would recommend it if you are into other cultures. Just simply click and back out until none of the videos have exclamation marks.

Tundra Meadow is the 9th choice under Chapter Select, just to be clear. Don't understand the negative votes. This guy is spot on. 1 in the Forest (follow video) and 1 in Tundra Meadow. It's that simple

There is an owl up above your head in the Ice Floes, where the ice blocks are smashing up and down. I'm having a heck of a time reaching it. The game goes all wonky, and the characters move in very weird ways, and then die.
If anyone has any tips for that pesky owl, it is appreciated. :)

Welcome to the Cultural Insight Guide for Never Alone! Cultural Insights are the game's collectibles. They are mostly found within levels by approaching owls when you see them. Most of them must be passed to progress through the game. However, there are a handful that you will have to stray a tad off the beaten path to find. There are a total of 24 Cultural Insights to collect and watch for all of the related achievements.
You can check the number of Cultural Insights you have/need to collect on each chapter from the chapter-select screen. If you happen to miss one, you can use chapter select to pick it up. Once you unlock a Cultural Insight, the game saves automatically so feel free to exit if that is the last one you need from that level.
Without further adieu, the location of each Cultural Insight is given below, following the numbering order used by the game. Insights are colored in BLUE, while Achievements are painted PURPLE.
WARNING: I tried to keep the location descriptions below as generic as possible, but there may be a few minor plot spoilers.
PRE-GAME: (3 Insights)
#1 - A Living People, A Living Culture - This one is unlocked automatically before even starting the game.
#2 - It Would Be Really Nice to Hear a Story - This one is unlocked automatically before even starting the game.
#3 - Scrimshaw - Unlocks automatically at the end of the opening cut scene.
CHAPTER 1: PRELUDE (No Insights)
Achievement - Close Call - *Story-related* for completing Chapter 1.
CHAPTER 2: TUNDRA (4 Insights)
#4 - Arctic Fox – At the start, head right and jump up. The owl will be immediately in your path.
#5 - Caribou & Clothing – A little after #4, in plain sight, after learning how to brace against the wind.
#6 - Sija Has a Soul – After jumping across the three “spirit platforms”, you will immediately run into this on solid ground.
#7 - Trapping Trail – After using fox to crawl through a small opening and then double wall jumping, you will get this when you reach the top of the cliff on the right.
Achievement - Tundra Expert - Unlocks after finding all Insights in Chapter 2.
Achievement - Homecoming - *Story-related* for completing Chapter 2.
CHAPTER 3: NUNA'S VILLAGE (3 Insights)
#8 - The Heartbeat of the Community – Directly after meeting the Owl Man for the first time.
#9 - Little People – In the area where you are chasing two little people, you will use the wind to make a large jump to the right, then slide down a slope and jump back to the left. You must make this second, leftward jump to reach the owl. If you miss it, quickly reload the last checkpoint, as there is no way to get back up.
#10 - Bola – After returning to the Owl Man with his drum, head right to find this owl immediately.
Achievement - Village Historian - Unlocks after finding all Insights in Chapter 3.
Achievement - Bola Expert - *Story-related* for completing Chapter 3.
CHAPTER 4: ICE FLOES (3 Insights)
#11 - Stranded – Unlocks automatically at the very beginning of chapter.
#12 - No More Thick Ice – After finally escaping the polar bear (for now), head right to find this one in your direct path, located in an area with an icy cave background.
#13 - A Girl & Her Nunaq – In the section where you are navigating ice structures that are moving up and down in an effort to crush you, you will come to a gap in the ice above where the owl is perched. Use the fox to scramble up the wall to grab it.
Achievement - The Cold Truth - Unlocks after finding all Insights in Chapter 4.
Achievement - Swallowed - *Story-related* for completing Chapter 4.
CHAPTER 5: WHALE SPIRIT (3 Insights)
#14 - Substience Lifestyle – At the beginning of the chapter, swim up and climb out the left side of the hole. Walk left and use the bola to destroy the wall of ice and grab the owl behind it.
#15 - Everything is Alive – After reaching the top of the icy chamber, swing on the long rope with Nuna to reach the ledge on the left. Use the bola to destroy the large icicle holding back water. The owl is right behind these icicles (the story will take you to this spot).
#16 - Sharing for Survival – After #15, swim back through the water to the newly accessible area. Once you exit the water, use fox to wall climb and jump up the corridor above you. Maneuver around and slide down the waterfall to gain speed and jump at the end to land with the owl across the large gap.
Achievement - Swimming Through History - Unlocks after finding all Insights in Chapter 5.
Achievement - Sea and Air - *Story-related* for completing Chapter 5.
CHAPTER 6: COASTAL VILLAGE (3 Insights)
#17 - King Island – At the beginning of the chapter, head right, jump the first gap, and the owl is directly in your path.
#18 - Northern Lights - Shortly after #17, you will solve a small puzzle where you must drag a platform above for fox to cross below. Just after this, the owl is directly in your path.
#19 - The Month of Night – In the section where you swing leftward across three ropes with Nuna (there are green aurora ghosts flying around), this owl will be on the platform after swinging across the third rope (story will take you to this platform to progress, thought you do not have to go far enough left to grab the owl).
Achievement - Seaside Lessons - Unlocks after finding all Insights in Chapter 6.
Achievement - Highs and Lows - *Story-related* for completing Chapter 6.
CHAPTER 7: FOREST (2 Insights)
#20 - Animal Spirits – From the start of the chapter, head right and notice the owl in the tree. Collect it with fox.
#21 - Rebirth and Naming – When navigating platforms and branches using fox to control them, you will drop down to a large platform and vertical corridor on your left. Before falling down the corridor, jump over the gap to the left (if you fall down the gap, quickly reload the last checkpoint). Jump up and left a few platforms to a branch with the owl. This owl is visible earlier on in the level, but cannot be reached by Nuna until this point (and for some reason, it wont allow fox to collect it).
CHAPTER 8: FOREST LAKE (1 Insight)
#22 - Manslayer – After the boss battle, head right through the newly opened area and it is directly in your path.
Achievement - Dendrologist - Unlocks after finding all Insights in Chapters 7 and 8.
Achievement - The Old Ways - *Story-related* for completing Chapter 8.
CHAPTER 9: TUNDRA MEADOW (1 Insight)
#23 - Reading the Weather – Just after the cut scene with the ice giant, head to the right. Instead of going upwards to proceed with the story, jump down and head all the way to the right to find this owl.
CHAPTER 10: FOREST CHASE (No Insights)
CHAPTER 11: COASTAL CHASE (No Insights)
CHAPTER 12: ICE FLOES CHASE (No Insights)
CHAPTER 13: EPILOGUE (No Insights)
Achievement - Caribou Feet - *Story-related* for completing the game.
POST-GAME (1 Insight)
#24 - Kunuuksaayuka - This one will unlock automatically upon completion of the game as soon as the credits start to roll.
Achievement - Insightful - After unlocking all Insights, you must select each Insight to watch the video. You do not need to actually watch the clips. As soon as it loads, feel free to exit them.

Achievement didn't show up too. I have to watch all 24 insights. I recommend that is pretty good.

That's why it says "viewed" in the description.

Here's our complete guide, including all Insight locations.
I have a full video walkthrough here:
Here is a video collectible guide, the game gives you some of these automatically so those won't be shown here. Also you have to watch these for the trophy to pop, you can start them and immediately stop them (but why would you do that?)

Excellent. Thanks so much. There were a couple that were kinda out of the way that I missed on my initial play through.
