How to unlock the Jill Valentine achievement in RESIDENT EVIL 3 - Definitive Guide

To unlock Inferno mode you'll need to beat the game on hardcore & then nightmare mode, for the achievement you'll need to beat the game in less than 2 hours without saving more than 5 times, to make this achievement way easier you can use the infinite RPG & any defense or healing coins you buy in the shop, what I did to get all the points was keep loading old saves at certain points like the hospital zombie waves or getting the fuses & just keep killing the zombies with whatever gun you need for your next record
I would recommend using your 5th save before the last boss fight as he has an op move that can kill you very easily, the only way I could deal with him was by buying the dodge manual from the store & dodging his 3 or 5 attacks then attacking & then just rinse & repeat
Doing it this way I was able to beat the game in an hour & 2 minutes

Smart with reloading saves. I didn't know you could use the infinite ammo weapons. Apparently there is no S+ or any unlocks outside the shop. Idk how I feel about that.

Defiantly take them coins with you because the last nemesis boss can be quite tough but the rocket launcher makes it way easier

A small note, I have all the coins unlocked.
But when I have the attack coins in my inventory, the game seems to break. Enemies aren't always responsive. The first Nemesis fight on the roof, was completely broken, I couldn't kill him.
Had to remove the attack coins and now it seems the game is working again.

Not really sure what the issue is, maybe it's a combination of the coins and the inf rocket launcher.
In case anyone else encounters this, try leaving the attack coins for the last boss fight.

edit: this is on xbox one x btw.

Nevermind I completed the game. Easiest RE completion of all RE titles. This is a piece of cake compared to Zero and RE1 achievements. That Resistance is going to be tricky though.

Inferno is very easy with the RPG and the coins. I used heals only in the last fight lol. My time was one and a half hour. Just be careful of hunters β they can instant kill u. Same as γ but they are very slow.

How much harder is Inferno compared to Nightmare, especially the final boss? I have the Inf. Rocket Launcher and finished Nightmare at 1 hr 4 mins. Nightmare final Nemesis was signficantly harder as sometimes its attacks would stun-lock Jill right to death.

So any tips against its attack patterns should be of great help to players.

It felt the same as nightmare to me. It's easy with the RPG. Same enemies and same spawning spots as nightmare. Enemies do a little more dmg than nightmare. I think that stage 1 nemesis is more mobile on inferno. Stage 2 is very easy and stage 3 same as nightmare.

Haven’t had one problem on inferno my only heal was at the spiders but I can not get past the final nemesis at all. I’ve watched video after video and I just can’t do it. I have the infinite rpg all coins and the book and I just can’t do it. Probably 50 attempts at it

Best I can say is to stay CLOSE to Nemesis' 4th form. When you're up close he can still hit you, but he doesn't seem to use his variably timed slap attack (which always takes me down.)

When you push in the final battery and have to get to the railgun, face him as you back up since he has ample time to counterattack.

Nemesis' final form on Inferno is a bitch; even with all the upgrade coins, the dodge upgrade, and the infinite rocket launcher. I've died 15 times in a row trying to beat it. I can't imagine doing it with no coins or anything.

I'm not sure what you mean by "stay close"; I tried to "stay close" and he killed me faster than when I was trying to stay away.

By ResidentialEvil on 09 Apr 2020 14:59
You need like a “perfect distance”cuz too close and he push you back then pulls you in which usually kills u but perfect distance would be for him to do is “drum roll”attack then sweep the area

Without infinite ammo nemesis stage three is still the same but with Samaria edge(this one shots almost all the pink bulbs)you just dodge then shoot I did it on nightmare took 2 hours then on inferno and it took 1 hour

Super easy with almost everything in the store already bought. Took a few tries, but you have to master the dodge while he's doing hand attacks, those are powerful, and 1 or 2 doesn't kill you, the problem is when you receive 3 or more hand attacks, that's when you're dead.

Anyway, easy enough.

I'm finding the final boss impossible with the rocket launcher. I don't have the samurai edge, already spent all my money buying the coins and rocket launcher. Looks like I'm screwed then. Hardest final boss I've fought in a game without a doubt.

On my nightmare run now with the infinite rocket. The game is easier than assisted, every boss took about 3 rockets before dying. However the final, final Nemesis form is complete bullshit as it stun locks you and you can't get hit once

By YaIrishMick96 on 31 Jul 2020 23:24
As someone who had to complete this without the infinite rocket, I had only the infinite AR and the dodge manual as well as the coins for recovery and etc... My strategy was to save every single magnum bullet and use that for the final boss because those will instantly blow up a pod after a perfect dodge-aim no matter what. That was the most consistent way for me to beat the final boss (which is incredibly difficult).

A note about people saying to quit to menu instead of hitting continue, that does not really matter on the final boss. It added less than a minute after every fail.

I managed to miss the shot on Nicholai three times. 🤦 Went too far left on the first two attempts, then too far right on the third. It's funny cause I never missed it before on any of my previous runs. Doing it out of the cutscene does feel a little strange. The fight does get considerably easier though once you've figured out the patterns and managed to beat it once so it wasn't a big deal.

@Nick. I used the 2 healing coins and the 2 attack/defence coins. Along with the RPG. Just make sure you have your 5th save at the very last boss. By the time you're coming around to this Achievement, you would have played this 3-4 times now and would have a good understanding of where things are at. 1st save after you reach the subway. Second save before sewers. Third save at the Police Station. Fourth save after you defeat the wave of zombies at the medical centre and the 5th save before the last boss fight. This is easily the most annoying boss fight in the whole run.

Hope this helps.

All the YT comments giving out about how hard the boss is and everyone here saying how easy it is LOL.

I think the game is significantly easier than RE2, and Hardcore mode w/ coins was a complete joke. I did it blind, with no guide and never healed dying 0 times and saved about 9 times just because I wasn't aiming for S rank and expected bosses to be difficult - but they weren't. Im wondering how big the jump is from Hardcore > Nightmare > Inferno. The only bits I "struggled" on was the early stages where Nemesis is sprinting after you at top speed and I can't time a dodge when he's behind my viewpoint. The final boss is a complete pisstake on Hardcore, it may aswell be a QTE

Anyone struggling on the final Nemesis battle check out jewhack's solution on here. There is a piece of dlc for £3.99 called the 'All in-game Rewards Unlock'. This gives you all the items in the shop, but you can also still buy the same items again in the shop. This means you can stack up to four healing, defence and damage coins instead of two and you can have two of Chris's dodging manuals. With four defence and healing coins you can survive the Nemesis 'stun lock'. I managed to do it first go, although I had to heal three times because he does take your health down to caution. So make sure you bring a few healing items into the battle. The dlc also automatically unlocks Nightmare and Inferno difficulties. Therefore, you do not have to play through the game on Hardcore and Nightmare difficulty and just go straight to Inferno difficulty as the difficulty achievements all stack. So if you are willing to pay for the dlc it will save you two playthroughs and make the final Nemesis battle much easier.

To complete this achievement you need to first beat hardcore and then follow that up by defeating Nightmare. If you've farmed enough kills at the "defend Jill" stage for the 2000 kills and met prerequisites, you should have enough shop points for Infinite Rockets, both of the hip pouch boosts and 2 of every stat/ recovery coin.
Saves I used for my 2 runs were:
1) immediately before nemesis fight one
2) immediately before nemesis fight two
3) [this save can be wherever you wish]
4) immediately before nemesis fight three
5) immediately before nemesis fight four (final)

If you die at any stage, return to main menu and load last save to keep your save state run time. This is trial and error at times but provided you know your route through the game and what you NEED to get, (e.g. forget about weapon pick ups and ammo for example), you should clear this in less than 1 hour 30 minutes with good final nemesis luck.
My 2 times have been 5 saves 1h26 and 5 saves 1h12

God speed and be prepared for mass annoyance.

Is it just me or is the part where Nemesis shoots down the massive toy head like way harder on Inferno? I never died at that spot and I've tried 2 Inferno speed runs now and both times died at that spot. It's like when it give me back control it has me turned around weird and no matter how fast I turn around the head catches up to me and crushes me. I hadn't saved up to that point both times and it pissed me off so much I rage quit.

The toy store head does roll down the steps faster than before. Manually skip the cutscene of it being toppled so you know when to turn and bolt.

Not much of a guide perse, but a tip in relation to the final Nemesis form which can be a bit of a nightmare on this difficulty seeing as if it manages to stunlock you you're pretty much done for.

I recently played through the Z Version on Inferno using the DLC which unlocks all the unlockables including the Infinite Rocket Launcher, Coins and S.T.A.R.S Manual in order to speed through the stack quickly. The latter two can be stacked to improve their effectiveness. You can also unlock these in the Bonus Shop allowing for a stack of 4 Recovery Coins, 4 Defense Coins, and 2 Manuals etc.

Using 4 Recovery Coins, 4 Defense Coins, and 2 Manuals in tandem with the Infinite Rocket Launcher will make you practically invincible, allowing you to tank through the Nemesis' stun lock. I got trapped in the stun lock 4 times and only had to heal twice, but was able to defeat it on my first try.

Using this loadout will make this boss fight far more doable if you're willing to drop few dollars/euros/pounds on the DLC considering it can be a little cheap normally.

This worked wonders. Kind of struggled with the timing of dodges. With 4 recovery and 3 defense coins, the 3 consecutive slams only brought me to yellow each time on Inferno. Definitely a good idea for anyone who struggles with the dodges.

This gets a big thumbs up from me.

Potential walkthrough for the entire game using this plan.
-Spend $5 on this DLC (unlocks infinite launcher, all shop items, and all difficulties)
-Run 1 (assisted) - don't use item box, get all collectibles. Takes about 5-6 hours
-Go to shop - buy recovery coins (2), defense coins(1-2), hip pouch (1), manual, assault coins (1-2) (in that order) depending on how much credit you have
-Run 2 (infernus) - don't use any healing items (except 1 - story related), finish in less than 2 hours, save 5 times or less (for S rank). Takes about 2 hours factoring in deaths.

This is what I did. Total game time should be 7-8 hours. $5 was definitely worth it for me to save about 5 hours and 3 additional playthroughs of the game

Just a quick PSA since no one seems to care enough to post this.

The spawns are the same as Nightmare so if you got caught off-guard by the Gamma in the sewer behind the waterfall -> rocket wala he's gone. I would recommend doing back to back - runs since each runs barely takes above an hour even if you get lost once or twice.

Pouches; the one near the Fetish-substation is gone, but getting the one in the sewers with the Battery pack and the one in the warehouse near the end are more than enough. Oh, and the 3 next to the first storagebox ofc.

Make sure the Inf-RL is your first purchase, get all coins, pouches and the manual and that's all you really need.

To unlock Inferno difficulty, you must've completed the game on Nightmare difficulty first. Please follow Step 2 in the Road Map on how to take on this difficulty head on. Skipping a majority on the areas in the game will be a must as time does play a factor when going for this achievement. The coins and items to carry with you should be as follows: x2 Recovery Coins, x2 Iron Defense Coins, x2 Assault Coins, S.T.A.R.S. Field Combat Manual (for perfect dodging), and x2 hip pouches. The pouches will not be in the item box but next to it. Only the Infinite Rocket Launcher will need retrieving from it and store any items you start out with. Going by that you know the layout of the game already, you will have no problem speedrunning through this difficulty with these items in tow. The only real danger, in my opinion, will be the start of the game since you'll be "stock Jill" with no coins. The first zombies are tricky (the one that rushes you when you regroup with Brad, the one by the fenced gate by the school bus, and the two zombies that exit the elevator). After this, just glide through the game.

The other real roadblocks will be when Toy Uncle's big head comes rolling down (mistimed dodge can actually get you crushed) and Nemesis Stage 3. So make a save prior to these events. Remember to also keep saves to an absolute minimum (5 max) as too many saves will affect your S Rank. Let it be known that there is no checkpoints in Inferno mode, and some typewriters will not be available in some safe rooms. Just unload on every enemy you see with the Infinite Rocket Launcher even in slowmo mode. The splash damage will not hurt nor stun you in slowmo mode. There will be no need to pick nothing up, only the story-driven items. You can carry herbs just in case an enemy got really lucky and hurt you. Doing this will have you in the 1 hour, 25-40 minute runtime, well under 2 hours if you're going for that "Sprinter" achievement as well.

Just few TIPS from my experience. This is not as bad as it sounds. I have beaten it using 5 saves, 2 deaths (apparently) and 1:20 on the clock. My save points were: 1) As Jill - first opportunity after meeting everyone in subway station 2) As Jill - in the shop after grabbing key to side alley (before rolling head) 3) As Jill - after train crash 4) As Jill - after hospital siege/receiving antidote 5) As Jill - after killing Nemesis in the round arena with big tanks.

Hardest parts for me were: getting to first SUPPLY BOX/Save point, Rolling Head and final battle...

- each cutscene is a skippable by pressing "start" and X. Radio convos are skippable too - these can slow you down or disable action button for door and etc.
- you should have 6 coins, 2 pouch extensions and rocket launcher "purchased" from in-game store for this run. I unlocked mine after completing challenges but you can get DLC to unlock immediately. These apparently stack with unlocked in game for extra functionality.
- you can but don't have to have purchase pick lock and bolt cutter. Pick lock is next to the fence entrance to 4 generators area in a box. Bolt cutter is after you extinguish the fire with a hose.
- If you unlock all the pouches the only extra one for Jill will be in the sewers area after using the "battery pack" on the door upstairs. It's good to have all pouches to get as much space as possible for first aid spray/herbs for final battle - I think I got 7-8 of these items and used 5 or so. Don't go out of your way but try to accumulate the health items and drop them into chest across the run to equip on the end. Run run run and bazooka everything! If you get caught into a zombie you can potentially survive after holding A. You get full health back sporadically across the main events of the game
- GETTING TO FIRST SUPPLY BOX: do not kill anything - it's risky trying if your aim is not perfect, just run as fast as possible, cut corners where possible. Shooting "tutorial" is a skip - just quick turn (DOWN + B) and run away towards the bus/gap underneath. Elevator zombie can be tricked by running a circle around to get him away from the elevator button. I didn't even bother shooting him.
- You don't need ammo, weapon pick ups or Nemesis Cache drops - waste of time and space.
- Everything is one hit kill with rocket launcher (except Nemesis). You can just proactively shoot around while running. I don't think any zombies will resurrect after rocket launcher. 1 hit will stun Nemesis in earlier areas so sometimes is easier just to hit him outside of combat arenas and run away without looking back. After restoring power when you get to main street and there is a tempting yellow shortcut ladder, he slides down it and if you are too far, he has enough space to dodge your rocket and the moment he jumps towards you - you can be dead. I just shot the zombies on the left and run down the stairs. Most of the Nemesis (forms) boss battles are 4+ rocket hits and take seconds if your aim doesn't suck. Just spam spam spam rocket shots.
- ROLLING HEAD - skip the cutscene that plays on top of the staircase, DOWN + B to quick turn and ruuuuuun all the way to bottom and THEN right, away from head. Give it few seconds before you continue going up the stairs. I had Rocket Launcher unequipped but dont think holding it slows you down.... realism, eh?
- If you need a good guide to follow along (if forgot enemy locations and quick shortcuts) I recomend having PowerPyx's 1:10hrs long video - I play these x1.5 speed and pause when think there is something important I need to focus on.
- I actually saved my 5th time before round arena battle so each time final form got me I had to run for extra 45 seconds from save point and do arena battle (skip cutscene, 2 shots, skip cutscene, 3 shots) then get extra health item (you get new spot after losing the cure) then try final boss.
- FINAL BOSS - It's really not that bad. I struggled because forgot there is a dodge button lol (right bumper). If you get hit once - use health item. I started with far right push of "battery" then went to left side then did the right one on the end. when you are running across the room its easier to time the dodges but make sure you have camera facing the Nemesis.
- you get a pistol in final scene (magically) so don't need to grab it from last SUPPLY BOX.
- I don't think it matters if you die for final score but after each time I was going out to main menu and reloading the save file. If you "continue" the timer will add up. Inventory screen doesn't pause the timer. The settings menu does. If you make 3 saves and reload 2nd for whatever reason, get farther in the game than before and then save - That becomes your NEW 3rd save not 4th in a row.

rank S on Hell - meet 1:45 total game time and a maximum of 5 saves.
