How to unlock the Forest challenge: Gold achievement in Reus - Definitive Guide
This achievement can be unlocked in alt mode and can be stacked with all of the other 1-hour ambassador achievements.
Before loading a game activate all alt mode benefits and make sure to select a large world. You will receive six random ambassadors at the start of the game, make sure you start with two forest ambassadors on the forest giant. This will net you level two plants and level two fruit aspect which you will use to grow Great Pear Trees. You will also want two desert and two swamp ambassadors (on any of the other three giants) so you can snag all of the other 1-hour ambassador achievements.
You will be making orchards of Great Pear Trees on forests for this era. I will be describing the desired layout moving clockwise. From the start lay down an ocean followed by a plot of forest twelve tiles in length (you will need to use your ocean giant to trim off one tile on the other end). On the ninth tile from the start (to prevent the village from settling anywhere but in the middle of the forest) get your first pear tree started with a plant upgraded with two fruit aspects. Plant a second pear tree on the tenth tile and move on. Repeat these steps moving clockwise. You should be able to fit seven villages (with the seventh being slightly shy of twelve tiles). Do not bother putting on more than two aspects on a plant yet, you want to quickly settle your villages. Place your swamp and rock giants on either end of the world to quickly deal with any wars that erupt between villages and begin filling all ocean tiles within three spaces of land with mackerel using your ocean giant.
Once you return to your first village, place two more pear trees and move on. Continue repeating this process until all plots are filled. Now fill up any empty aspect slots on your trees with the fruit aspect. Once done, sit back, deal with any wars, and fill up the seas with mackerel. Pause often when you're initially setting up your villages, you want that done as quickly as possible. Time is less of a concern afterwards. Keep an eye on what developments pop up in the last twenty minutes of the era. Destroy any that do not offer any bonuses and get a pear tree in its place. Do not pick up any additional ambassadors!
Using this method I ended the era with 4200 prosperity and unlocked all of the 1-hour ambassador achievements. Good luck!

After completing this challenge I felt compelled to add some thoughts here:
1. Proccing 2 swamp, 2 forest, and 2 desert ambassadors in Alt mode, while obvi RNG so you might get it first try, has a 3.5% chance. Now requiring the 2 forest ambassadors to proc on the forest giant lowers the chance to well below 1%; so, for almost everyone this will take hundreds of reloads taking many hours. It might be more time efficient to do these 3 Achievements in 2 runs, so as to just need the 2 forest ambassadors in the right place; up to you, but just be aware.
2. There are 150 tiles on the large map. As oceans are 9 tiles, your first 3 forests should be the normal 13 tiles, with the last 4 being shortened by 1 each.
3. Getting over 4,000 with this strat will take some luck, specifically with projects. If you get level 1 or 2 projects that add nothing or little (animal or mineral bonuses), it will be really tough to reach 4,000. And as OP stated always catch level 3 projects that that take a separate space and add nothing to immediately wipe them and replant a pear tree. Constantly pause to check for these as it can wipe you right near the end. Given that the animations for every activity in this game takes soooooo long, you will have very little time (if any) to sit and watch anything.
4. Because of the short time span, I would recommend filling the aspects on the pear trees immediately, not on a 2nd trip around. To account for the small added food, simply add the beginner tree right after the 2nd pear tree; while it is out of bounds and adds no food it will generate another 10 Awe on the, now, middle pear tree (it's also the beginner for the pear tree you'll be making on the next trip, so time saved). Also note, the difference between all green and all purple aspects on the tree would be more than 800 prosperity at end game, so reloading to get purples might be the difference in cracking 4,000.
5. Again because of time constraints, unless you luck out and get level 2 fish from the OG or SG, placing fish is virtually worthless. Your much better served upgrading your aspects.
