How to unlock the Hero on the Battlefield achievement in Soulcalibur IV - Definitive Guide

This achievement is pretty easy to do. Select Taki and do her Unblockable attack Ninja Cannon Fury (Forward+A+B) over and over again. this video shows just one fight, but just keep repeating it on the other stages. Good luck!

Edit: You can't expect to get this achievement first try, I mean like I said it's not exactly a cakewalk. You'll get frustrated with the apprentice, but just keep at it, it took me I think 3 times to complete the achievement so I was on the same boat as some of you.

This solution worked second time for me and was exceptionally easy compared to other methods I have heard of.

This worked for me, with a couple of extra cheap tactics because I was struggling quite severely;

Only spammed that move on the first three people. In addition, let those three people kill me at least once. Other people, just tried to knock them down first.

The Apprentice I had to keep grappling and then once he was down I could spam that move twice.

Overall though it ended up working for me.

Are you sure thats the right button combination? Because when I tried it, it didn't work. Plus, its not listed in the move list.

this solution does work I just did it on my first try. Die once on the early characters. Build a big # early in case you have to fight normally on the last few guys.

This method is total B.S. It doesn't work against the last three fights. Most I ever got was about 380K. Maybe if you have an unpatched version, this still works.

this worked just great you can configure youre controller so it will do a+b while just pressing 1 button... you only need to do this for both rounds of the first 3 or 4 fights and just win the rest legit, you dont even need to do the consecutive win bonus its even better eif for the first 3 fights you loose a round or 2 by the time i had finished fight number 4 i had around 350k points... ang got another 150k defeating the remaining fighters.

This solution worked for me. Concentrate on building up your points with the first 4 fighters you face. I purposely them beat down with her Ninja Cannon Fury unblockable attack (forward+(A+B hotkeyed)) over and over and purposely lost one of the rounds after beating them down to low health to score even more unblockable attack points in all 3 rounds. I had over 450K points even before reaching the 8th stage. The key is to keep about a half a body length away from them when using this attack.

Lol I don't understand why people get so worked up about this. Clearly this solution works. it's obviously not working because it's YOU, not the solution. This isn't a cakewalk achievement, you can't expect to get it first try.

Yeah I got this on the first try, great solution. The trick is to farm points on the first 4-5 stages with the Ninja Cannon Fury, and as previous stated make sure to lose one battle each stage to maximize your chance for points. Once you get the move down, you can get 80,000-100,000+ points on each of the first stages.

The trick is The Apprentice battle. He's far too quick for the move to work, and you're gonna need some real skill (or luck/patience) to get by him.

Just make sure you are capable of beating the Arcade Mode regularly before attempting this or you may get frustrated. Using the method correctly on the first stages though, and you'll have more than enough points by the end (8 stages).

This works but it's not an easy method even though it's one of the best. And the move is upward / forward x+y.

Back when I got it, I believe I had enough to just play through normally by the 6th stage using this method. This is important since the Apprentice is a royal pain in the ass, and isn't about to let you spam a move at him. As I always say, there's Hard mode, and then there's the Apprentice. He seems to be two skill levels above what you're playing on.

Oh, and the people voting down are silly. They just aren't good enough at the game to get the achievement at all so surely it must be the method's fault.

Thumbs up, got it on my first try with this method.....only had to do a retry on the apprentice a couple times, but took me only 15 min total.....Again, like everyone says, just farm those first 3 matches and lose a round purposely.....you'll need it for the end cuz I barely made it......ended with like 459K

This solution worked great, I just got this today. I assigned the A+B to right trigger, and spammed the forward A+B for the first 4-5 guys. I made sure to lose one round to maximize my points and made sure to get an extra 400 "overkill" bonuses after every round. I lost a few times against Starf**ker and Algol but I was already at 450k+ before I got to Algol. I was playing on Normal difficulty.

This is bullshit. I have it mapped so that RB is A+B, and it still doesn't always work. I press forward, which I assume is the way towards the enemy, then immediately press RB. Sometimes it does the Fury, other times it does some stupid kick thing that screws me over.

Great solution. I was sick of just trying to get it by just getting Perfects with my best character. I think you're probably getting downvoted because people don't understand what you're supposed to do.

You don't have to get Perfects -- you don't even have to win every round. Just get as many Unblockable Attacks in as possible. Taki seems to have the weakest Unblockable (that I know of), so that way you can use it a lot before the opponent actually dies. It's 1000 points per Unblockable that connects (not to mention extras like Combo, First Attack, etc.); you're looking at about 20k per round and up to 100k per stage. Letting the opponent win one round helps as well, but I only did that two or three times and was still well over the mark by about 50k.

Once you get to The Apprentince, just try your hardest to beat that sucker. I never really played as Taki so I just spammed her kicks since they seemed to catch him off guard the most. Just try and try and you'll eventually beat him. The final stage is piss compared to The Apprentince; Algol will fall off the stage more often than not anyway.

apprentice was easy once I've found correct method: just duck and hold block. let him do his combos. never mind if he hits you couple times. wait until he is close and grab him. burn him when he is on the ground. then repeat.

of course, all this time i thought strictly no continues. i failed 3 times with algol but continued on 'coz i didn't wanna restart with the apprentice. beat algol on the fourth try and surprisingly, unlocked it.
so yes, continues are allowed. for me, at least.

I'll also verify this for the achievement. You need to hot key x and y for your right trigger. Really makes life easier. I had 420,000 when I hit the apprentice. Much like the other comments I'll also agree that anyone who can't do this method just isn't doing it right. Did this my first try. Cheers.

Really can't see why so many negatives I failed with this method twice but then I had a little think on how to approach it and on the 3rd try I had got over 450,000 by round 5 final total 596,756 smile you have to spam this attack on the first 3 BUT make sure you lose a round but during that round you lose still spam this attack and let them win - I had noticed when you send them in the air you can an unblockable attack once you hit them AND when they land so 2000 for one hit
Really it's as simple as that round 1 and 2 I got 100,000+ per round
For all you negative people you are clearly not as skilled or smart to figure out how to approach this solution facepalm think a little and read theses comments
Runsen nice one for finding this out clap

Worked a treat. Had around 430k by the Apprentice, beat him (eventually) using throws - "Departure in Fire" using B&G (Mapped to cn_LT by default) took a chunk of health off him and left him vulnerable to a Ninja Cannon Fury or 2. Still not easy though!

Ended on 492.5k

the best ways i have found to do this is to get consecutive perfects, or 1 perfect and 1 critical finish, preferably 2 perfects, for every round for the first 3 matches. Then try to get at least 1 perfect or critcal for every match onwards (the apprentice is a pain, but doable). For every perfect you get, you get 15000 points (so 30000 per match for 2 perfects), and 10000 for every critical finish. So 1 perfect and 1 critical is 25000 points.

You can throw fights if you dont, but if you havent lost a single round, the consecutive win bonus is better the further you go without losing. 1000 point for 2 consecutive matches, and additional 2000 for 2, 4000 for 3, 8000 for 4, 16000 for 5, 32000 for 6, and 64000 if you dont lose a single round. That comes to a total of 127000 points just from winning every round, meaning you dont get KO'd once.

2 easy ways i have found to gain this achievement are as follows:

Use yun seong and spam his forward Y, Y combo. This not only can get you easy perfects in the first few matches, but also drains your opponents soul gauge, due to the cpu blocking alot, meaning easy critical finishers (soul crush followed by the left bumper).

The 2nd way is to use astaroths cheap combo. This is done by holding diagonal down-back and holding X. Astaroth with charge up a low swing. When this connects, release all the buttons and press Y. He will perform an overhead swing causing a fair amount of damage, and knocking the opponent to the ground. Repeat until you win.

Using the methods above ive gotten over 450k several times with ease, so they should work for you.

Tried using Yun seong but I was failing all the time with only "forward Y, Y combo" so I did A + X each time they blocked the Forward+Y+Y twice... And I still failed with ~20k to go most of the times so then I started pushing them back with Forward + Y + Y ~2-3 times then A + X (which grabs the enemy and kicks em in the chest to push em backwards) and if they're close to the edge of the arena I would just do it again and ring em out, that's how I managed to beat Siegfried, The Apprentice & Algol w/o fail :P

I found the Yun-seong worked better than Astaroth until around the Apprentice, when they evened out due to impacts becoming more prevalent. The important thing after all the perfects is to keep that consecutive win bonus going; I lost to Algol and tried again with a ton of perfects and critical finishes, just to finish at 449,800.

I do the Astaroths method and it wont do it half the time. I can only get to 300,000 when I get to the Apprientice who rapes me and I lose a round.

I lost my save from a while back and just wanted this one to show up in Battle History(or whatever it's called, sorry), I already had this achievement and I think I had used the Taki method originally, but I wanted to say that the Astaroth method totally works.
With Astaroth, I ended up losing a round against Ivy somewhere in the middle which killed my consecutive win bonus, and I only got Perfects about half of the time. But using just that single combo (used his Fwd Fwd (Kick) a few times though), I made it all the way through with no issues. Ended up with a score around 470,000 I think. I was kind've worried when I beat Algol and was only at around 420,000 (If I remember correctly), but hell, I got it, first try too.

This method with Astorath is what finally got me over the hump. That consecutive win bonus is huge, and once you get the combo down for Astorath, it only took about four tries. Thanks!

This solution will be building up off of the solution written by Runsen. The method is the same one I used, but there are some key parts he didn't mention.

First off you can't get this achievement if you aren't at least semi-decent with Taki. The Ninja Cannon fury, as he said would be Forward (A+B), if you use default controls this would be Forward (X+Y). One little tip I have to give is set the (A+B) to the Y button so all you have to press is forward LT instead of having to press forward + X+Y, reducing mess ups.

This move launches the opponent in the air netting you 1,000 points every time it hits. If you get multiple hits while they are on the ground using this technique it counts as a combo. You get one launch in the air then one hit on them while they are on the ground which will roll them away. If you are in open space, run up and try to do it again before they get up. This is where practice is key. If you are in a stage with walls try to get them up against the wall so you can simply spam this move netting you points and possibly a perfect.

Even if you lose this technique will work. I lost in the second round to Setsuka and still managed to get my points high enough by using this move over and over. Like I said, make sure you hit them in the air with the move and at least land the one on the ground then try and chase if you think you are up to it.

I would highly suggest doing this in earlier stages as once you hit stages 5+ as Antarael says the enemies get smarter. Key opponents this won't be as efficient on at least in my case were Cervantes, The apprentice and Algol. Cervantes and Algol allow a couple if you know the timing but I would suggest only going for a few and beating them normally. The apprentice will more than likely be your hardest fight as he can be rather cheap, all I can say is forward, Y will be your best friend.

A couple little tips would be that first strike each round nets you an easy 1,000 points and damaging the opponent after defeating them also gives you 100 per hit so it doesn't hurt to go for these. With the wins without losing a round you will get a building multiplier which can only help, but focus more on getting enough ninja cannon fury's in to give you a safety net. I had 450,000 at the apprentice making it so all I had to do was win, and this would be your safest bet considering he and Algol and your last two fights and they won't be forgiving. Good luck, and if you feel I should add anything feel free to comment on here or message me I'll be glad to look in to it.

Spot on this mate.

As you say, you should try and get as many points as you can in the early rounds with the cannon fury, as it gets a lot harder to do later. Even Cervantes in round four wasn't up for letting me spam him to death.

In the first 3 battles, I won the first and third rounds, but used the second round to rack up points and then let myself get beat. This way, I had over 280,000 by the start of round 4 which allows you to concentrate more on winning and reduces the need to try in vain to spam more difficult opponents. You don't even need to worry about a consecutive win bonus. I got over 500,000 this way.

Thanks a lot for helping me get this cheev!!

Just a little addition if you use Astaroth with the cheap combo (as mentioned here before) (well it's not that cheap since your enemies may be faster than you lol):

1) You should use the combo swing until Stage 5 even if you don't get a perfect EVERY time, just try to get the consecutive wins (if you get hit or they avoided/blocked your attack try throwing the enemy)

2) If you got to Stage 6 just keep on throwing mostly with A + X if the enemies health is lowered enough you can use LT to finish him (this throw is a little stronger)

3) Just do the same on Stage 7 with the Apprentice and Stage 8 with Algol, if you time correctly you can grab them every time they try to stand up and they have no chance to counter i got some more perfects just by throwing them to death (even the apprentice was a cake walk even though he hit me 2 times lol)

4) Kick 'em while they are down: Even if you K.O.d your enemy, still attack him on the ground you can pound out some extra points out of him

I got 530k points with this method, your main goal is to keep the consecutive wins which shouldn't be too hard if you throw The Apprentice and Algol to death lol

Good Luck!

i got mine by using Fatboyys layout for asteroth, all i did was use X,Y together which is the grapple attack, if u do it constantly straight away u can get perfects as u can grab them the moment they stand up, i just did the same thing all the way through, got first strike and last strike too so that was more value, only 2 that game me any slight problems were levels 7, 8, which were the apprentice and angol, the rest were easy, got loads of perfects and only didn't get both perfects on the last 2 levels.

my score ended as 549,310.

Refer to this to better understand the scoring system.

The Consecutive win bonus really makes the difference in the end with a total of 127k. So assuming you never lose a round entirely (Losing a round and throwing the fight to retry will void all Consecutive win bonuses):

Stage 1 - No Consecutive Win Bonus
Stage 2 - 1000
Stage 3 - 2000
Stage 4 - 4000
Stage 5 - 8000
Stage 6 - 16000
Stage 7 - 32000
Stage 8 - 64000

Various bonuses:

Soul Gauge bonuses - 1500 to 3500
Time Bonus - 3000 to 8000
First Hit Bonus - 1000
Perfect - 15000
Health Bonus - 100 to 10000
"X" hit combo - Depends on damage and number
Unblockable attack - 1000
Wall hit - 1000
Last Attack - Depends on damage
Ukemi - 100
Impact - 500
Overkill - 100
Critical Finish - 1500

Alternatively, You can throw a battle if you don't get a perfect without any point deductions. But if you do this, you will lose the consecutive win bonuses.

Tip: Use Astaroth's cheap combo by holding Down/Back and X, then hitting Y. If done right, he will wind up a low swing and knock your opponent down, then do a hard overhead swing. Repeat these two moves over and over and they shouldn't be able to even move.
