How to unlock the Champion achievement in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II - Definitive Guide
here are some vids i found on youtube from the PS3 version that helped me to get the tactics i needed. hope it helps!
as Da Mitch Man 90 pointed out to me in the comments, his guide is better for the 1st one. I advise checking it out and voting it up :)
all credit goes to the maker of the vids, PSNyazter. they are his work not mine.

Oh man oh man! I was pulling my hair out for challenge #5 Retrieval after doing it a billion times. This is the hardest challenge on the list especially since there is a small window of time and some moving platforms. So I was compelled to provide a better guide to help all those who are going crazy for this particular challenge! Credits to Bennios for posting all his video challenge guides!
First of all the double jump dash to force dash is so annoying. The double jump is ok, but you absolutely need meticulous timing for the dash to the force dash. Second is that doing this method requires perfect timing and no falls, precision is key. Unluckily for me I don't have great timing for this particular move. So the best I did with bennio's video's method was like :52 -:59 range (I wanted to throw my controller at the xbox and fling my disc on the freeway). I thought how the hell were people getting platinum then? So I did some research and found 2 other methods that were not here on TA.
1st method:
When I found this method I was so relieved and happy that there was actually a different method. Amazingly you don't even need to dash to force dash! So after a few attempts with this method, I managed to pull a :48 even with 2 falls and taking a longer safer route (hopping on more platforms). The trick is to dash from the platform then jump dash (no need for a double jump). The jump after the first dash requires some timing but I figured out that spamming the jump button after the first dash is a lot easier. The only thing is that you might have to practice this method first to get the hang of it, especially if you did the regular method a billion times like me.
2nd method:
This method is crazy and only for the advanced who wants to be on top leaderboards. If your one of the rare people good with the dash to force dash then this is for you! It is slightly similar to the first method but after dashing from the platform you can go to force dash then critically time a jump dash to force dash again. With this method you can get to farther platforms and have platform hopping to a minimum. I didn't even try this method (are you crazy) but I figured there might be some TA gamers going for top leaderboards.
I hope this helps everyone who are close to going clinically insane with this challenge and credits to glowyrm for his amazing methods (use to have #1 on leaderboards).

Good guide dude :). I agree that the method in the vid I posted is pretty tricky.
Would vote up if I could :p

My only problem is I can't give this a million positive reviews.
It still took me about 75 attempts, but I managed it with under 3 seconds left. You are my hero.

Ok, about the first challenge.
it is frustrating, complete nonsense.
The awful random lag and the fact that if you start a combo too early the game won't count it make this one of the worst challenges ever.
BUT: if you - like me - have upgraded your saber to the maximum level try it, because I just made it. And I've tried to play it on saber level 1 as well, but never made it there.
I believe the more the combos (26 instead of 14), the more time you can gain overall.
TIPS:
Sound OFF. Mute your tv. Sound make this harder.
When it comes to any XXX combo, the pause time between the second X and the third one is shorter than the pause time from the first to the second.. Go X, XX. Believe me. It works. It changed everything for me.
the last combos are not as hard as you think. Once you get the first x of the second part you are done, and you can start mashing x without worrying about time.
Stay as far as you can from the dumbass, but don't put too much attention on it. If after the first ten combos you hit him, that's fine. Try to make those first ten combos by yourself though, it helps.
I am done with this horrible game. It is an insult to the average Devil May Cry player, let alone the experts. It is hard because it is very, very bad made.
Good luck people.

Was having trouble with this all night! Gonna give your advice a try tomorrow. Thanks

This helped, took a couple of tries but I did beat it and I didn't need to start a new save either. You just can't afford to make a mistake, managed it with like 3 seconds to spare. If I messed up just once, I would just restart the challenge again
Turning the sound off was a good idea

I couldn't get past the Kamino Drill Grounds until I tried this method.

Warning this is more of a mindset that helped me than a cut and dry solution...
Best advice I can give that helped me finish the 1st combat challenge after going through multiple threads on this is..... Wait longer on the last 3 sets (xx xx, xxx xxx, xxxx xxxx) then you think you would need to after the first half of the combo. The lag time is way longer then any combo before it. At least for me this was the game changing mindset. Before I started being patient I never hit the last combo once (xxxx xxxx). Once I waited longer I started to hit it. You can see exactly where to begin the next half if you pay real close attention and be patient not to jump the gun and button mash. Within 3-4 trys after hitting the last combo for the FIRST time I nailed the Gold time. Once you see it you will have it, be patient to get it.

First challenge tips
So that was the hardest challenge for me. I'll try to sum up here what the other guides and comments suggested (since Da Mitch Man 90's guide is nowhere to be found) and my own experience.
There is no/little room for error (aka fail a combo and redo it again). I finished with 59" (so a 4" margin) after a flawless run. Even if you failed a combo, keep practicing for the hardest combos (the last ones).
- If you haven't upgraded your lightsaber yet, do this challenge first, there will be less combo to do. Otherwise, you'll have to do 26 combos (some of the hardest at the end).
- Turn off the sound (it's distracting). I also turned off vibration. That way, you can really focus on the combo.
- Do the combo running in circle near the edge (see video from Bennios' guide). You don't need to touch Proxy for the combo to count.
- For the last 3 combos (xx pause xx, xxx pause xxx, xxxx pause xxxx), I instead found it easier to do it on Proxy. Why? That way I knew when to do the 2d part of the combo. It is when the movement from your saber is almost done hitting Proxy that you need to do the 2d part. There's almost no pause in the "xx pause xx" but for the last 2, it is useful to see the timing. Again, keep practicing so that you can do it flawless later on.

For anyone still struggling with the first challenge: I found the real trick to beating this is to make sure youre entering the next combination as soon as it shows up on the screen. You can actually start hitting the first a fraction of a second before it shows up on screen. This saved me about one second for every combo, which ended up being around 20 seconds total which put me over the top.
You'll end up getting the timing of the combos down after just a few runs, but limiting the down time in between really makes all the difference

I just wanted to add on to Da Mitch Man 90"s solution. If youv'e allready upgraded your light saber just start a new game save. I did campaign on easy and all ten challenges unlocked, so it's not to difficult except for # 5.
Challenges are additional challenges that unlock once you complete the game. There are ten challenges only (“first ten” refers to those who have the Collector’s Edition of the game, which includes two additional challenges). See the Challenges Walkthrough below to see how to get a Gold medal in each. It should be noted that Platinum, not Gold, is the highest rank so there is SOME room for error.
Note: the first Challenge unlocks after the initial tutorial. Apparently, it is shorter without your Saber Power upgraded. Feel free to undertake that particular challenge after you finish the first level, but keep the remaining Challenges for when you finish the game.
So, the first challenge.
f you just started or are thinking of starting TFU2, I highly recommend doing the first challenge and unlocking the Gold medal before maxing out your Lightsaber ability!
The first challenge is generally agreed to be the toughest one in the game. It is much more manageable to complete it as soon as it unlocks (after the Prologue mission), rather than on a save where almost everything else is done.
Having rank 3 Lightsaber ability adds more and tougher combos to the challenge, making it an absolute bear as opposed to an hour-long practice-and-success session. This means that the "Maxed Out" achievement makes this one harder. Fun.
As for the challenge itself: move quick, make no mistakes. Some combos will let you start a bit early, some absolutely won't. The droid might kick you upon respawning and cost precious time.
Sometimes the game won't let you start a combo for a split second. Sometimes inputs are a bit wonky. It's really no different than most time trial achievements, there's bullshit and RNG and memorization involved. Keep practicing and you'll get there, I promise.
SIDE NOTE:
If you're in the same unfortunate boat as me, this info is much too late, so you'll have to start fresh. But I have some tips to make regrinding the rest of the challenges for Gold less of a pain.
You will need to play the story again to unlock all of the challenges, so if you haven't already gotten the achievement for Unleashed difficulty, here's your opportunity to skip a redundant playthrough (if you don't mind skipping the holocrons for lightsaber crystals, health, and force power boosts).
The game is relatively short, so an Easy mode session will take about four hours.
A fresh save won't carry over all of your force powers, abilities, holocrons, costumes, and lightsaber crystals. If you want to start your fresh save on a better note, these cheat codes will allow you to unlock all abilities from the start.
I've also included the code for the Wisdom lightsaber crystals, as the extra Force Points boost will allow you to level them up faster and get back to unlimited poooooweeeer.
MAREK - Unlock Force Repulse ability
SOLARI - Unlock Wisdom (White) Lightsaber Crystals / Gain extra Force points when defeating your enemies
TRAYA - Unlock Lightsaber Throw ability
YARAEL - Unlock Jedi Mind Trick ability
There is also an exploit to get infinite Force Points, so if you'd rather be at full potential right off the bat before you trudge through the story yet again, for the sake of making this achievement much more manageable, here you go:
In the first level when you stop running away from the gunship, you will die and get Force Points. The save point at this location makes it easy to get infinite Force Points. Use a rubber band on your controller to force your character to always run. After dying, your character will begin running again and repeat the cycle automatically. Allow the game to idle in this state for easy Force Points. (Credit: cheatcc.com)
I hope this guide reaches somebody before they get into the predicament I'm currently in. It's a bit of a grind otherwise but hey, I got the challenge done.

ATTENTION: Pass the first test before upgrading your swords!
First, go through the first level in the game, as soon as the second starts, press Start and go to the main menu of the game, there select Challenge and pass the first test.
With unpumped swords, you will only need to do 14 combos, and with pumped swords you will already have to perform 24 complex combos.
So first pass the first test, and then you can upgrade your swords.
Also, in some challenges, it makes sense to equip certain lightsaber crystals.
For example - In the second test, it is best to place crystals:
Shock: SHOCK – Chance to deal additional lightning damage.
Focus: FOCUS – Using powers consumes less energy.
Kill your opponents with lightning.
In the fourth test, it is best to place crystals:
Protection: PROTECTION – Increases defense skill.
In the sixth, seventh and tenth tests, it is best to place crystals:
Focus: FOCUS – Using powers consumes less energy.
Disintegration: DISINTEGRATION – Chance to disintegrate (incinerate) the enemy.
