How to unlock the The Collector achievement in The Invisible Hours - Definitive Guide
Collect all the clues
There are 19 clues that show up multiple times throughout the game. They are objects you can examine at any time. You will see a magnifying glass icon when you first examine each clue. I will try and list the earliest you can see them, but there are other times and places for almost every clue. You can track your progress in the theater on the desk to your right.
1) Lever handle - This is on the floor near Tesla's body for the majority of the game.
2) Spirit radio - This starts on some drawers on the right side of Vanderbergs room. Vanderberg and Mundy both carry it around during the game and later on it's found sitting on the table in the sitting room to the left of the main entrance, across from the library.
3) Phone - This in on the left side of the dining room for the entire game.
4) Gustav's pistol - Gustav pulls this out multiple times throughout the story.
5) Tesla's pistol - This is lying near Tesla's body and Gustav gives it to Flora.
6) Whiskey bottle - This is the bottle Vanderberg is drinking from in his room at the beginning of the game.
7) Umbrella - This is Gustav's umbrella. He has it at the docks and it ends up on the roof at the end of the game.
8) Book of the Occult - This is in the library on the shelf across from the stairs initially but is easier to find once Edison reads it early on and later sets it on the desk to the right of the chess robot.
9) Passport - This shows up in chapter 4 when Mundy reads it and is on the floor outside of Bernhardt's room when he discards it.
10) Victor's will - Gustav will take this from Mundy early on in the dining room. For the rest of the game it will sit on the dining room table.
11) Tesla's will - You will only be able to find this in the short time between Swan getting it out of the hidden safe and Swan throwing it in the fireplace. This event takes place in Tesla's office at the beginning of chapter 2.
12) Burnt paper - This is the burnt paper Gustav pulls from the fireplace in Tesla's office near the end of chapter 2.
13) Letter opener - This is initially on the desk to the left of the chess robot. It will then stay in Vanderberg's possession for the rest of the game.
14) Steak knife - This is seen when Swan opens the fridge near the end of chapter 2 and later ends up in Bernhardt's possession.
15) Mundy's knife - Mundy has this knife in his boot throughout the game but for some reason it randomly disappears in some scenes. He also looks at it and pulls it on other characters.
16) Flora's locket - This is the locket Flora is wearing most of the game. In the beginning she trips and Gustav hands it back to her.
17) Edison's watch - Edison has this watch throughout the game. In chapter 1 he's asked for the time and this is the easiest time to examine it.
18) Vanderburg's watch - At beginning of chapter 3 Vanderberg shows this watch to Edison. Later in this chapter Edison uses this watch to give the time.
19) Poison bottle - This is the bottle Vanderberg is going to use to commit suicide. Later it is on the floor near the Tesla coil in the secret lab.

The handle isn't registering as a clue for me? Tried on two different playthroughs.

The handle never registered for me either. I picked it up and moved it around in several chapters. Achievement popped for me as soon as Bernhardt‘s passport appeared on screen. I didn’t even have time to select it!

There are nineteen clues tied to this murder mystery. In some small part, all of them are needed to see the bigger picture, though some are tied to one path and some are connected to the grander scheme of just following Gustav. At first glance of these items, a magnifying glass will appear registering it to the compendium outside of the timeline (to the left of the theater selection screen are two books).
Following Gustav:
#1: Gustav's umbrella: first viewable as he gets off the boat; can be found on the roof until Chapter Four's end.
#2: Flora's locket: When walking with Gustav, Flora will trip and this will appear for a short time.
#3: The lever: the murder weapon found near Tesla's body.
#4: Tesla's pistol: left originally beside Tesla, carried by Flora until Chapter Four.
#5: The phone: what Gustav calls the mainland Police with (or pretends to).
#6: Gustav's gun: held by Gustav, first moment is when keeping Mundy from running.
#7: Victor's will: Taken from Mundy, left on the dining room table.
#8: Burnt scrap of paper: following Gustav upstairs in Chapter 2, in the fireplace and held by him briefly.
Following Vandenberg:
#9: Whisky bottle: He'll be nursing this often during the first chapter. It will also be left on his table where Edison uses it.
#10: Poison bottle: Briefly on Vandenberg's table, and his possession, around when Swan delivers the luggage to his room. It can also be found in Tesla's basement after the death in Chapter Three.
#11: Spirit radio: Constantly in Vandenberg's possession until acquired by Mundy, then it is carried from there until it is finally left in the lounge left of the foyer.
#12: Letter opener: Originally left beside the chess robot in the library, but is then used to unlock the basement by Vandenberg and used by Edison to kill in Chapter Three.
#13: Vandenberg's watch: Several times to view this, with one of them being unknowingly satisfying it. In Chapter Three, Vandenberg will be standing outside the dining room viewing his watch before talking to Edison, where they comment on it. By watching Edison, when he takes the watch out to view the time in the basement to confirm time of death, this will be the watch used. And lastly, when confronting Edison on the second floor, the second watch will be pulled out and will be this one.
Following Edison:
#14: Edison's watch: Used to confirm time of death by Edison when asked by Gustav. It will be in his hands for a short bit. Can also be viewed later during the confrontation of Edison v Gustav on the second floor in Chapter Four.
#15: Book: A book on Astral Projection will be in Edison's possession after leaving the foyer and before his encounter with the chess robot. After this, it will be left on the table beside the robot for the remainder of the game.
Following Swan:
#16: Tesla's will: Following Swan in Chapter Two, he will take this out of the safe in Tesla's office and get frustrated by the contents. He will burn this and the painting of Tesla in the fireplace, which is when it will be lost to view.
#17: Steak knife: By following Swan in Chapter Three, he will be punched by Edison and then marches to the kitchen. At first, he was simply going to grab a steak to nurse the wound, but being pressured by Flora makes him contemplate using the knife on her. This will also be used in Bernhardt's path if you decide to follow her in Chapter Four.
Following Mundy:
#18: Mundy's shank: He will briefly speak of it during Chapter Two, showing it in his boot, and from then on, it is highlightable. Furthermore, he will draw and use it during Chapter Four in the events leading up to the roof.
#19: During Chapter Four, Mundy will be acquiring Bernhardt's stuff to try and get her to leave with him. In foraging through her luggage, he will find Sarah's passport, which serves as a revelation for what needs to be done. If you don't immediately follow him, this can be found on the floor outside of Bernhardt's room after he throws it away.
