How to unlock the Hello Darkness My Old Friend achievement in Tower of Time - Definitive Guide

This fight is near the end of the fourth corridor. You have collected four crystals, run across the magic bridge and find a laboratory. You will be given the objective to activate the rays. For this achievement you are not allowed to activate a ray and have to fight the battle on Epic.

At the beginning it was difficult to find a strategy. I went into the battle with the following champions: Kane, Maeve, Aeric, Whisper. All of them are around level 7. I didn't really need Kane, as I only attacked the boss with magic. Therefore, it is important that the champions have a high mana regeneration.

I used the following skills and upgraded them. Aeric does as much earth damage as possible. Maeve weakens and slows down the Shade. Whisper also slows and does damage.
Maeve: Arrow Barrage, Bear Traps, Hunter's Mark
Aeric: Summon Ent, Earth Curse, Earth Fury, Healing Totem
Whisper: Magic Tower, Meteor, Suffocation Dome, Thunder Injection

There are two magic barriers on the map: barrier (1) on the left and barrier (2) at the bottom. I immediately placed the three ranged fighters on the right side of the second barrier at the bottom of the map. I sent Kane to the first barrier. But he was irrelevant for the fight.

The course of the battle could be coincidental. Shade ran to the upper right corner. The opponent was within range of the ranged fighters. I used all the skills I had. Several abilities slowed it down. Although the effect is limited, the effects seem to have stacked. The opponent stopped in the upper right corner and lost focus completely. My ranged fighters were able to attack it permanently. Once the abilities were charged, I used them all together. The life points melted quickly. From 25%, the Shade heals itself. You can compensate for the 66 life points per second with the damage of your ranged fighters. With the abilities you reduce the life points further. In the end it dies without having had a chance.

Perhaps this is the most difficult trophy in the game, because "Dusk" is the story boss of the fourth floor and until you kill him you will not be able to move further along the floors to raise the level of the heroes and return them to it, as in the case of the Orc leader . The main problem is that you can't weaken him before the battle using crystals, so you have to fight him at his full strength.

In principle, it is not very difficult if you understand the mechanics, but the battle will be long and exhausting. The main problem will be not to lose the characters, and to survive his second, most difficult phase, when he will constantly call for help, spheres that will cause a lot of problems, so they need to be destroyed as soon as they appear. The rest of the battle will be a stamina battle, you will need to heal your heroes as soon as the skill becomes active.

So the battle scheme will be approximately as follows: immediately at the beginning, inflict as much damage as possible on him. And you pull him out from the center of the arena. I had a group of the first 4 characters. The archer and the druid stand a little further away and kill the spheres. The Druid, as his abilities cool down, uses them, the main thing is to place the totem and Ent in time, I also summoned the water spirit, but perhaps it was possible to use something with a direct attack. Always place the Ent on the opposite side of the melee fighters, then the boss’s massive attack will go towards him. The archer sets traps and shoots the spheres when the boss calls them. The warrior and the dwarf cut down the boss close, they must be constantly kept in manual control, so that if something happens, they can be withdrawn from the boss’s zone attacks, this is especially important at the last stage. The main thing here is the survival of the warrior; with proper development, the boss will only attack him, and the rest of the heroes will be able to calmly pick at him. Perhaps the gnome could be replaced with someone else and the boss would die faster, but I’m not sure.
