How to unlock the Master's Degree achievement in Trials Rising - Definitive Guide
This is actually one of the hardest achievements in the game. The requirement is to get the "A+" grade in all 12 University of Trials tracks/lessons (found in the race menu in the USA, near Florida IRL.)
Lessons 1-4 and 12 require completing the lesson in a particularly quick time, whereas in the other lessons getting the "A+" simply requires you to finish the whole track. Like in all other tracks, you will be timed out after either 500 faults, or 30 minutes time in real life (the in game clock will add on 5 seconds per fault). The general pattern is three obstacles per grade.
All of the lessons 5-11 include extreme level obstacles towards the end, and, in my opinion, lessons 10-11 actually include ninja level obstacles towards the end. In other words, if you are not able to complete extreme tracks (and even arguably the early ninja tracks), this will likely be beyond you.
In terms of help, it is difficult to add much to the game as these are "tutorial" levels which include an in-game video explainer of the technique required, and then a ghost will accompany you in-level. By pressing up on the D-Pad you can zoom in to view FatShady, the Uni of Trials professor, completing the current obstacle. Your goal is to copy FatShady!
I will however add some pointers on what helped me on the hardest lessons.
Lesson 10 - Consecutive Bunny Hops - this is a very hard lesson, especially the A and A+ sections. The requirement is to perform consecutive bunny hops while retaining your momentum.
Tips - Every section is easier with speed, i.e. reverse from the checkpoint to the end of the platform, and accelerate from there. By doing this you can avoid some bunny hops, because your speed will mean that a normal "bounce" is sufficient.
- In the A+ section, I found it was best to reverse part of the way, but not all the way, as it was possible to go in too fast. You want to bunny point off the platform you start on, off the second free-standing platform, and off the third three-standing platform. The first free-standing platform can be bounced off purely via momentum from your speed, and the fourth free-standing platform can also be bounced off via momentum (although this one is more marginal, so an additional bunny hop can help.)
- If your bunny hops are really inconsistent, try using the D-Pad over the analogue stick for your leaning. This can help you get the back-forward-back-forward motion more consistent.
- In the A+ section, some of the bunny hops involve jumping to a higher platform. This is really hard, but I would recommend only using 75%-ish acceleration off the preceding platform to help you get the height required. You need to be leaning back in mid-air to stop your wheels clipping the platform on the way up, but then quickly lean forward so you land in position to immediately accelerate off.
- Remember your traditional Trials strategies for reaching the checkpoint where your jump isn't quite far enough (these won't work beyond the platform with the checkpoint on, as otherwise you need to retain momentum). a) do a flip and try to grab on with the rear fender of your bike, b) get your front wheel on and break while leaning forward to pull yourself up.
Lesson 11 - Rear Wheel Bounce
Tips - Here, I think, less is more. By that I mean a) you often don't need full acceleration, 80% is sufficient, especially off the boxes, and helps make your bike easier to control, b) try not to do too much with your leaning, you will want your top wheel at around one o-clock, and then simply flick the lean forward while accelerating off each box, while retaining the bike's angle. If you watch FatShady, you will see his bike position is very controlled. If you get a good bounce from one box onto another, keep the bike's position, it's working!
- Again, remember your traditional Trials strategies for reaching the checkpoint where your jump isn't quite far enough (these won't work beyond the platform with the checkpoint on, as otherwise you need to retain momentum). a) do a flip and try to grab on with the rear fender of your bike, b) get your front wheel on and break while leaning forward to pull yourself up.
Lesson 12 - Time Trial
Tips - the time for A+ is tricky, around 30.6 seconds. The key is to completely avoid the first "u" with a big initial jump (wheelie up the first ramp, and lean forward as you take off to propel yourself forwards.) Then, you want to accelerate through, while minimising the "air" you get off the ramp. Do this by accelerating as soon as you land, and then suddenly break on the up-slope so you just drop over onto the next down-slope.
It is easier to see in a video, so here is a clip of someone else doing it (thank you to them):

Focusing on acceleration in Rear Wheel Bounce really helped me understand it and get the technique dialled, +1 mate couldn’t have done it without that little tip there 🤙
